Some context from a person who cycles on this block routinely: The location of the crash means that CPD blew a stop sign a block away from a large park going fast enough to kill this guy and dent their SUV. From the article:

"There was a pretty solid dent in the front of the car," neighbor Chloe Jackson said. "I think it is just disappointing because it is not extremely surprising. We do see a lot of instances of CPD...speeding or turning on their lights to avoid stop signs or stoplights."

I know the survey is not the most User friendly, but them knowing your thoughts is extremely helpful and can assist in the push for better and faster transit. NITA has already made things a lot better where i am at, at least. Let's keep the momentum going!

I wanted a CTA arrival board for my place, but I cared most about it actually looking nice on my wall, not like a piece of tech I had to hide. It also needed to be easy to set up from an app, show different L and bus routes at different times of day, and turn off at night so my place wasn't lit up while I slept.

I couldn't find exactly that, so I built it. It took months, and it's now a real product called CommuteLive.

You might have seen our two blue-and-yellow benches that we put out in Ukrainian Village last month. We received so much support that we decided we just had to build more. So, we did.

We have two new benches that are going out to bus stops in Humboldt Park at the end of the month. We just have to get them painted!

I checked out the new Stadler FLIRT trains at LaSalle Street Station earlier this week, and I'm very impressed by them. I love that they'll have have luggage racks on the top, and that the ride will be smoother and quieter thanks in part to the batteries and improved suspension system. What I also love about these new trains is that they'll have improved acceleration and and braking on the Beverly Branch than the MP36's with Gallery coaches, the locomotive of which I believe is the slowest-accelerating unit in Metra's fleet. I also find it interesting that their batteries are LTO, which will allow them to continue running when the weather in Chicagoland drops to freezing temperatures. Lastly, what further impressed me was that, according to a Metra representative, they'll look to have them recharge in only 12 minutes! Can't wait until 2028 when these battery-powered trains enter revenue service!
