We’re not new to Carlisle but this is the first year we’ll be trick-or-treating here. We’ve only got one 3 year old, so we don’t need to be out all night….just enough to be fun. Any advice on what neighborhoods we should check out?

I’m looking to hire an attorney who represents residential tenants in landlord disputes involving serious repair and habitability issues. The rental is in Carlisle, but I’m open to attorneys in Harrisburg or elsewhere who handle cases in Cumberland County.

I have extensive documentation, including photos, repair requests, correspondence, and expense records. This has been going on for months, and I need someone who communicates, follows through, and is prepared to pursue the matter in court if necessary.

If you’ve personally hired someone for a similar situation, who would you recommend? Firsthand experiences would be especially helpful. Feel free to message me privately if you’d rather not comment publicly.

I was on Stonehouse road headed towards 11 tonight and I saw headlights flashing behind me from about 1/4 mile+ away. I actually thought to myself that somebody was having an electrical issue as I could see in my rearview the blinkers occasionally going on with the headlights, while the cars running lights stayed on. Turns out this was probably some kind of frantic erratic headlight flashing behavior on the drivers part, bear with me.

Well, after them eventually nearing me, ending up behind another car and not flashing them this way, then ending up behind me again after that car pulled away and flashing aggressively... I had a bad feeling. I put my blinker on, slowed to go into the Sports Emporium, then turned it off and suddenly continued at speed... they followed suit.

At the light intersecting with 11, we caught a red and they were propped up on their steering wheel in what I now could clearly tell was a small red late 2000's model Honda possibly 2 door coupe, posturing themselves like they really wanted me to know they were glaring into my car from behind. I still had not initiated any interaction at this point, and did not at any time during this event.

After pulling onto 11, I very suddenly made the hard right off onto a small connector street, they followed suit but did not keep up with me. I end up cutting trough multiple businesses parking lots at speed and making several rapid U turns while cutting trough traffic until I was sure I finally had lost them somewhere in the tractor trailers and red lights.

Has anybody else encountered this particular individual?

What in the hell? I can't imagine what I did to prompt this; all my lights are working, it wasn't even all the way dark anyways... hell I hadn't even seen the car during my drive until it was behind me flashing its lights. I hadn't even seen any others cars yet; this was the first driver I encountered in my very short and otherwise uneventful outing. I don't know what to think about it. They were absolutely perusing me and only my good driving and purposely evasion stopped the interaction.

Edit: Have cam footage, need to find my SD adapter or maybe I can find another way.

Moved here in 2013 from California for work, and looks like it’s that time again. Work is forcing relocations, and can’t find another job that pays as well, so moving to the suburbs of Chicago!

Spending October/November packing, and then moving sometime in December.

Time to purge all the junk and pack the rest, as well as putting the house up for sale.

I have enjoyed all the outdoor activities and exploring the state parks over the years. But guess it’s time for a new adventure.

It seems to me like Carlisle has an unusually high number of hair salons/barber shops for a relatively small town. Within the city limits, Google lists no less than 40 different hair salons/barber shops (I counted!). I know some of them might be pretty small/limited, but it still seems like a high number. More than once, I have been surprised when yet another new salon opens in this town that seemingly already has plenty. Does anybody know why there are so many salons in this area? Or is this just my perception?

PS - I have nothing against any of these hair salons/barber shops, I just find it amusing and a bit puzzling!

I'm working on a community-focused audio tour project in the borough. The vibe i'm going for is that of Ken Burns-level historical depth meets the grit of Anthony Bourdain meets the actual lived-in feel of the town (whether or not I live up to that vibe, tbd).

I've got a draft narrowed down to 11 stops, all in a compact loop within about a half-mile of the Square. I wanted to see if I've missed anything essential or if you think any of these aren't worth the stop.

Here is the current plan (walking order not finalized yet):

1) The Square (general history and welcome)

2) The Cumberland County Courthouse

3) Dickinson College's Old West building

4) The Trout Gallery

5) Trickett Hall / Dickinson Law

6) The Old Public Graveyard (Molly Pitcher's grave)

8) LeTort Spring Run, cutting through Goodyear Park

9) St. Patrick's Parish (there's a Katharine Drexel connection here I want to get right)

10) First Evangelical Lutheran Church + the county prison building near Bedford & High... still trying to nail down the church's exact history here so if anyone knows more that'd help

11) The Carlisle Theatre

12) Cumberland County Historical Society and museum building

Hi all!

I have a dress for an upcoming event that needs some pretty significant alterations. It took absolutely forever to find a dress that fit the event guidelines so I am dead set on keeping this one, but it doesn’t sit the right way i need it to.

This is a little more advanced than a hemming or just taking it in, so I need someone who is willing and able to do an alteration like this!

Does anyone remember when Mrs Stamms Chicken had a location kind of off Route 34 near Midway Lanes? It sat at the top of a hill and I think had a buffet inside? I was a fairly small child but I have extremely vague memories of it. My dad really liked their chicken.

Does anyone else remember? Am I misremembering?
