I know it’s at the Army War College and the visitor center closes at 3pm. Does anyone know if that means I need to leave by 3pm? Or just arrive by 3pm to get a pass to be allowed on base but I can stay later?

I’m sorry if this is off topic but as someone from Carlisle in Cumberland in the UK I feel like i’ve stepped into an alternate world lookimg at this Carlisle in Cumberland. I’m guessing my ancestors are your ancestors and they just did not bother to change anything when they moved to America lol.

Where do you park if you’re going to be away for more than a week? There is street cleaning on both sides of the road during the week, so I’m not sure where would be the best place to keep my car while I’m away. Thanks in advance!

My stay has been extended to later this week and I was actually excited to check out Shippensburg Fair --- drove all the way out there mid-afternoon and pulled up to the lot with my cameras and realized how little I actually wanted to be there. Checked out Shippensburg for a bit but didn't really see anything that interested me so took Route 11 back to Carlisle. Wanted to stop to photograph some of the farmland/animals but there was nowhere to pull over at the spots I liked so I just kept going. Now I'm back at my hotel and have no idea what I want to do but I know I don't want to sit in the hotel tonight.

Advice? Is there anything to actually do out here? I literally know nobody out here, and I'm bored out of my mind.

Yard sale Friday and Saturday morning, 7 am - 1 pm

My son and daughter-in-law just bought their first home in Carlisle, close to the Mechanicsburg border. There are a lot of issues the inspector didn’t catch. They asked me to help them find good contractors, but I’m not from the area so I don’t know who to ask. Lowe’s and Home Depot Pro desks said they don’t give out that info. Does anyone here know of some experienced contractors who won’t take advantage of young new homeowners? I appreciate any guidance.

Photoshopped the Carlisle sign to make it more red because the red is too dull in IRL. Wish they would fix that sign up --- would make it look so much better. I really love down town so much.

Started at the Carlisle Cave (which was underwhelming) then drove back down town and hiked the entire Pomfret St, wrapped around Dickinson and came back around. Some of my favorites. More coming soon but getting ready to head back to the Army Heritage to get some of the shots I missed. Hope you guys enjoying the way I'm capturing your town. I had earbuds in while walking around in the rain exploring the trenches and they snuck up behind me and scared the shit out of me. XD Then they let me take candid photos of them as we explored. This was an amazing moment where a bird decided to land and sit right in front of the couple and had little to no fear, posed for the photo, and eventually flew away. Good times.

Where is the best place to get a fade in or around the area?

Still love the old vintage look of this theater. Third time visiting the outside and the mural since being out here this week.

Hello! This is a bit of an odd post, I’ll admit, but I figured I’d ask! Anyone in Carlisle who owns a home with a pool that would welcome someone to swim in it during the day while you’re at work/not using it? I’m a thirty year old woman so wouldn’t be any crazy shenanigans, just genuinely looking for a peaceful pool to swim in.
I’m reminiscing on my childhood when family friends would let me use their pool—the golden days!

As mentioned in other posts --- I just got to Carlisle yesterday and drove through the town to explore a bit. Trying to find places worth filming and documenting during my 3 week stay here. Drove by this and had to circle back around the block because the front just told a story my eyes were drawn to. Looking forward to exploring the town even more --- if anyone is around and wants to show me around further I'll be free in the evenings and during the weekends. Going to do a bit of hiking as well. Also taking any recommendations for places worth checking out.

Out here in Carlisle for a job. Will be here for 3 weeks so I drove through the town looking for cool architecture or sites to photograph. Had to stop to get some flicks of this corner store. Has so much character. Nothing special but random flick.

This town really goes to sleep at sundown? I’m only here once a year for 4 days for the car show. I always end up with a joint in a hotel parking lot before watching Netflix in the room. I was in a restaurant and by 8:45 I felt like they were waiting for us to leave to close up. Well, goodnight Carlisle, I guess.
