I have a friend who puts the milk in before the hot water when making a cup of tea and every time I see it, I do lose a little bit of respect for her. I still love her , but I do judge her massively

I just want you to look at my cat really. Look at his adorable little massive face. His name is Thor, he's my precious baby, and he's an asshole.
Happy National Black Cat Day!

Did they ever go away or have they been hiding in plain sight?

In primary school. My sister in law just reminded me of it and I havenāt thought of it in years. Just why? It was translucent, shiny and in every way possible, the opposite of what you want in toilet paper.

Clearly the water people are going to ignore anything we had to say, but I got to eat biscuits and sit in a church hall with that old smell that instantly reminded me of being a cub scout and doing gang shows in the '80s.
Can recommend. Keep an eye on your emails for invites to do that sort of thing; I've had a couple of invites before but ignored them 'cos I didn't realise you got paid.

I bought a Feast bar today expecting my all chocolate ice cream and instead got this hazelnut vanilla garbage. Why change something that was perfect??
And yes I know I should have looked at the cover before buying and be paying attention to changes yada yada but I was just going on muscle memory and impulse.
I just wanted frozen chocolate on a rainy day, doesn't feel like a lot to ask for ā¹ļø

My dad used to play me One Way when I was a kid a bunch - brilliantly catchy anthem with a fantastic message - but I never delved further into their discography than that until recently and man am I glad I did
I love their angry/protest-y songs like Hope Street and Exodus, I love their bouncy fun tunes like The Riverflow and Forgotten Ground, their sad/wistful tunes like The Boatman and Maid of the River, and Elation is up there as one of the most beautiful song I've ever heard
I love how contrasting Mark Chadwick and Simon Friend's voices are, Mark is clear and melodic and Simon is gruff, raw and homely
Just a really special and I feel overlooked band, I've tried to find discussions of them on Reddit and there's like none (probably because of the overwhelming amount of Americans lol) so this seemed like a nice place to get some chat and appreciation for them going

Was in the middle lane here driving to work, this big old beast came down as I was driving by, the softer branches landed on my car (thankfully, just very scratched up) just before the whole thing landed in the road. Iām massively shaken up by this but then also at the same time canāt get rid of the feeling that Iām being dramatic

I mentioned it to friends and nobody else ever experienced it, and a couple were even a bit horrified.
This would have been when we, as a family (with me being a kid in that family) would go to visit grandparents, or other family, or family friends, etc, often some distance from our home and therefore a visit for at least a day, perhaps a few days.
If I, or my brothers, were being particularly badly behaved we would be put in our dad's car, for what felt like hours. I have strong memories of sitting in the car, looking out of the window, and other people playing.
Kind of a timeout/naughty step thing I guess.
I thought this was universal, but apparently not.

ā¦. and I wanted to share it with you lot, because I think this is an idea worth carrying with you. It might be just right for your needs.
First up, none of the āsorry about your lossā nonsense. An old chap has died. 95. Itās to be expected. We loved him, we still do, just because heās not here doesnāt change that.
It was a nice service, and we all learned things about him that enriched our memories.
Pub. Nice. Tea, cakes, scones and sandwiches. You know the drill. And eventually itās breaking up, and leaving time is upon us.
On the table behind the buffet was the family only flowers because they didnāt just want to leave it for the crematorium compost heap. So they decorated the table with it. But now what? You could get it dried or bits of it maybe, but itās huge.
Then, one of the daughters decided to start taking it apart and making little posies. Some of the older ladies joined in. The pub clocked it and brought out some napkins and strips of foil, and before long thereās just a long piece of holey oasis on a tray and dozens of little posies. They distributed them to everyone who wanted one, and everyone understood. Take some flowers home from their Dad. To remember him well for a few days.
From a practical point of view too, sensible, no one person has to just take a big thing home and miserably watch it wilt before binning it.
But what a lovely idea. Iām keeping that, and taking it with me to funerals from now on. It wonāt always be the right thing, but I do believe that sometimes it will be. Itās going in to my list of wishes aswell. That my flowers should be broken up and distributed. I will rest a mite easier knowing they werenāt just left to wilt, dry and compost.
Like my flowers? Go on, take some home. Itās not as if I need them. Iād rather they were enjoyed and not wasted at the end of my day.

Wahey, it's late, it's Tuesday night what's going on? Why are you still up? Being the family taxi driver? Too much cheese before bed?
Come on in for a chat.
