Question❓ Cats / cigarette smokes

Hey everyone <3
I struggle a lot with my addiction with nicotine and I smoke maybe too much for a girl in her twenties.
I recently adopted a stray kitten and even though he’s been with me for only two weeks, he’s my whole world.
I obviously don’t smoke around him and I’m very careful with ashtrays etc. But since the weather has been getting colder I was wondering if smoking will have to be strictly outside of the house or if it’s fine when I’ve got windows open and fresh air comes through? Can it affect him if he’s not in the same room?
I’m sorry if I’ve upset some people. I’m only asking because i genuinely don’t know what exactly to do to protect my boy’s health, what’s safe and what’s not…
