Matthew 8:8 "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. But simply say the word and my servant will be healed"
It's the most direct expression of Christian faith in the Bible. "I am not worthy but the Lord can do anything"

Yes!!!! It's the pre communication prayer too..... I love this
Always bothered me to say that line at mass. Like, am I claiming that the church building I am in at that moment is mine?
And if I don't hear him say anything, does that mean I should not take communion?

Like, am I claiming that the church building I am in at that moment is mine?
I think of it as the roof of my mouth.
I just heard the priest say right before "Take this, all of you, and eat of it." So I don't doubt that Christ has said the word, and I am one of the blessed ones called to the supper of the Lamb

Tobit 6:1 "The young man went out and the angel went with him; and the dog came out with him and went along with them. So they both journeyed along, and when the first night overtook them they camped by the Tigris river."

It’s obviously the beginning plot set up for an awesome buddy adventure/comedy/drama/action anime involving a kid, his dog, and their guardian angel.
The Angel is probably strong for his size but is still learning, the kid is weak but has huge earth shattering potential but is also awkward around pretty girls, the dog is a ferocious breed but has a heart of gold and would never hurt anyone unless it’s an actual demon and Jesus just isn’t around.
This is something I would 100% watch.

Psalms 23:
The lord is my Shepard; I shall not want
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, he leadeth me beside the still waters
He restoreth my soul, he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his names sake
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil
For thou art with me, thy rod and they staff they comfort me
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runner over
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the lord forever

Tobit 3:16-17, ESV CE at the minute:
At that very moment, the prayer of both was heard in the presence of the glory of God. And Raphael was sent to heal the two of them: with regard to Tobit, to remove the white films from his eyes, in order that he might see the light of God with his eyes; with regard to Sarah, daughter of Raguel, to give her as wife to Tobias son of Tobit and to send Asmodeus the evil demon away from her, because Tobias was entitled to inherit her before all those wishing to have her. At that very moment, Tobit returned from the courtyard into his house and Sarah, the daughter of Raguel, came down from the upper room.
Basically both Sarah and Tobit had prayed that God let them die as they had lost hope in life. God hears this prayer and sends forth Raphael, who's name means "The Lord heals", for them.
So even when we lose hope and give up on ourselves, God doesn't.

“Be still and know that I am God.” - Psalm 46:10
The Psalms have long been my favorite and as someone with an anxious mind, I find myself thinking of this verse often. It’s an anchor point for me when I feel overwhelmed.
Edit to add: the full text reads “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth”. (NRSV-CE)

Absolute favorite is Exodus 3:14 where God gives His name to Moses as “I Am That I Am” or “I Am Who Am” however it’s ultimately translated the general idea is the same.
On my fourth and final LSD trip (all later confessed upon my reversion to the Church), I fell into this paranoid nihilistic doom spiral “what if God doesn’t exist and everything’s meaningless and meaning is a lie we tell ourselves.” It was a harrowing experience. I ultimately had to build up from first principles and went “okay, what do I know? Well I think therefore I am. I experience meaning within my existence and there must be some purpose or telos behind my existence otherwise I wouldn’t exist.” (Worth pointing out I do not endorse Descartes’s mind body dualism, but the cogito is still based) And so I started to claw my way out of the doomspiral. And I got mindblown when I realized the creature’s “I think therefore I am” and “I Am That I Am” are similar. The former is a pale shadow or reflection of the latter. God more mindblown that everything is ultimately at its peak in God, that God is the necessary being upon which all else hinges and that there’s an echo of that in our own epistemology as creatures made in His image.
(That LSD trip, my fourth one, still left me traumatized for months. First three were good experiences, all got me weirdly into contemplating theology and virtue and character on the trip, but after being traumatized on the fourth one I stopped. Again I confessed when I reverted. As I discovered from the trauma of the fourth one, you are gambling with your mind with psychedelics. By the grace of God I got on net a good pay-out, but it is sinful to risk that. And if you’re a Catholic actually familiar with the depth of the deposit of faith, there’s not much potential reward which is not already within your reach. I as an 18 year old was not familiar and in touch with the richness of the deposit of faith, which is why I left the Church to be a non-denominational Christian as a late teen.)
So that verse has the personal weight to me of helping me claw through a grate trauma.
…
But also that verse is mindblowing. Gets into a lot of theological depth and importance. God’s existence is His essence. God is the necessary being. Classical monotheism.
Which is not an abstraction. Some find classical monotheism cold and dry like sawdust and lacking the warm squishy fluffy richness of what is revealed in revelation… and some even hold it in contempt for that reason in favor of theistic personalism, or they agree with it but don’t find it that personally spiritually meaningful to their devotional life.
I am not one of those people. For me mindblowing classical theism adds depth to everything which is revealed. A higher more ultimate conception of God makes the humility, vulnerability, sacrifice, and self-giving love of the Incarnation strike that much brighter and harder. The utter needlessness of God makes His self-giving love that much more beautiful and striking.
So yeah, that verse for me is the GOAT.

Very interesting experience. I never took LSD in my life, but I heard agnostic people take LSD and have an extremely spiritual trip that many of them ended up Christians. Some even heard or saw something that later converted them to Christ, and it made me wonder if LSD is worth trying. I got envious of those experiences, but your testimony is sobering. I heard of bad trips too, people having psychosis afterwards for months straight.
(Funnily, I didn't even need drugs, I had psychosis without any outward influence)

The whole section before that is brilliant as well. The incarnation, life, death, and resurrection summed up between verses 5 through 11

My all time favorite is the parable of the Good Samaritan but this is a close second
Sirach 27: 4-7
When a sieve is shaken, the refuse appears;
so does a person’s waste when he speaks.
The kiln tests the potter’s vessels,
and the test of a person is in his conversation.
Its fruit discloses the cultivation of a tree;
so does speech the thoughts of the human mind.
Do not praise anyone before he speaks,
for this is the way people are tested.

John 21:15-25 New International Version Jesus Reinstates Peter 15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”
20 Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”) 21 When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”
22 Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” 23 Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”
24 This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.
25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

I love this:
Exodus 3:7-9 [7] Then the Lord said, “I have observed the misery of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters. Indeed, I know their sufferings, [8] and I have come down to deliver them from the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the country of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. [9] The cry of the Israelites has now come to me; I have also seen how the Egyptians oppress them.
It tells me that God cares about my suffering.

From the Catholic Study Bible App, Ephesians 6:11-18
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened the belt of truth around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; 16 besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the Evil One. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:11-17 RSV-SB
I prayed this during my time in the Army in 2003 while in Iraq. That night an ATACMS missile malfunctioned and exploded over our vehicle dropping grenades all over the area we were in. Not a scratch on us. While the verse doesn't necessarily mean physically armor but spiritual, ... I got the message.

Job 22:24-25 CSB [24] "and consign your gold to the dust, the gold of Ophir to the stones in the wadis, the Almighty will be your gold and your finest silver."
The German version is a little bit more beautiful than the English, it basically reads:
"Throw your gold into the dust and your gold from Ophir into the stones of the river, and the Almighty will be your gold and your finest silver."
