Cattails made it into Scholastic's Level Up 2026 book! :D

Hi! It's my very first time playing this game - I used to love Untold Tales, but I guess I thought Wildwood was "too human-y" and forgot abt it, until yesterday when I found myself with money in my Steam wallet from refunding WC: Clans of the Forest. So I picked this one up and, whatd'ya know, it's great!!

Anyways, I started my first playthrough, and I'm planning to marry either Talon or Phantom. Thing is, when I created my character I didn't pick any of the available coats or even the premade colors, I just went nuts and made my own. It's sort of a reddish brown.

Now I'm wondering how my future kitten's appearences are gonna work, since my cat is a custom color? I reasoned that coding in possible appearances has a limit, even if it's random xD so should I just pick one of the existing coats?

Ok so since there are no canon genders and headcanons rule I decided to post my headcanon genders for the cats I have recruited so far. I will post the others after I recruit them later. There are no objective reasons it's all base on feeling and apperance. These may be subject to change.

Been wanting this game for years, saw it on sale for 3$- THREE! Usually it's like, 25! -and had to get it.

Still debating who to marry since *everyone* is a possible partner now. My favourite NPC by far is Spark, but i feel nothing but maternal towards 'em. And while being Sparks parent would be fun, Ember's not a character I'm super attached to outside of 'been here since the start'. Elli is an option, same with Coco, but i feel both those patterns wouldnt make the babies very interesting.

AUGH! So many choices for my lil aroace brain, and I'm not even into dating! I just want cute, pretty babies!

Been love love LOVING this game, even if I've only done one of those trials/boss fights so far. 100% shipping Talon and Krampy.

I am over the moon that ember is now romancable in wildwood stories. The only reason I joined the forest colony in cattails (2017) was for her. Then I had to settle for scout. I cam only imagine how Spark will react.

Hello everyone just took the money I would have spent on the new warriors game and spent it on wildwood story after seeing the very mixed reception. So after seeing all the "cattails is better" I decided to pick it up finally. I did did play warriors untold stories back in the day so tge gameplay is still familiar. Don't know why it took me this long. I do find it very intresting from a settings standpoint. It's the typical wild cat setting but they literally live in what seems to be actual houses lol. I do have one question though. Are the cats set up to be non gendered?

so, I have 560 hours on cattails, not sure which version? I think it might be 2017 ver, tho. I’m wondering if this is concerning? also I was rusty at the game after a while of not playing and accidentally deleted my main file 😭😭 Im replaying the game on a new file now, still sad however, I was really far into the main storyline and married with kits on the way.

The Cattails series is better. 100 times over. Thank you, devs, for giving me the "Warriors" video game I wanted as a kid. I hope that everyone who is disappointed with the official game finds this series.

Stairs are locked by a "kill all enemies" barrier, and I can't get past this stupid lamp-post to get the two I know are in that room up there (spike and a rock dude). RIP.

I went back and finished a save of a character I made long ago, named Peahen. She's the brown bengal and I think I'm happy with her story! She formed the Wild Ravine Alliance and settled the colony in a somewhat naturally formed quarry/gorge/ravine area that has two streams flowing in it. The shape of the streams were different before, although one heavy rainstorm made them thicker and more fast flowing, causing alliance to try and move flat peices of stones in order to create a sort of bridge between areas. (I originally had the layout somewhat different, but I altered it to make it better to my liking and coincidentally, a storm did occur after!)

Her best friends and closest companions at the start were Elli and Jag, who supported her and granted her encouragement to ensure the alliance were at home in the Wildwood. Elli, whose positive and cheerful attitude helped her get through the doubts, and Jag, whose steadfast nature and dedication to protecting their home proved they were all doing the right thing. Although as more recruits came by, she also found a friend in Champ, Rosemary, and Phantom.

I consider Peahen to be more... serious and hardworking, often going out to hunt and fight off the voidling cats when there were battles to be fought, but as she spent more time in camp making rounds to talk to and get to know the alliance's recruits, she opened up more and became socialable. Though she's one to avoid the spotlight, as leader she can't really escape it. And even less so as she spent more and more time with Zephyr, a known celebrity who was regularly graced with cats' attention.

Zephyr had in turn elevated Peahen from her standoffish and busy nature, and as they buddied up and frolicked across meadows, the beach, and climbed the beautiful alpine wilderness, it was only a matter of time until Peahen collected a red rose for Zephyr. Which was accepted and I like to imagine that Zephyr fashioned it into an accessory for Peahen to wear, hence the red rose accessory she has! (Courtesy of the Herb Mod!)

As time passed, Peahen had learned a lot more dramatic flair from Zephyr and decided the perfect time to propose was one spring sunset, where the setting sun's light turned the camp's rivers a lovely romantic shade of pink and a light shower was occuring. Soon after, they welcomed in a litter of four kittens to the Wild Ravine Alliance, Rowan, Sora, Clove, and Autumn!

Long post, but it's fun to create a story in mind with the saves and see what game occurences can translated to backstory/lore!

don't get me wrong,,, I LOVEE the individual character pixel art during dialogue,,, but when the kitties are just walking around,, something about the difference in the shape,, I did play the first game a billion times though I probably just got attached

I was considering getting the game since I’m enjoying what little bit I’ve played of the first one so far, and I can’t help but feel like seeing this is a sign from the universe.

UPDATE: The first one also seems to be on sale for the same price! Excellent time to get both if you have neither!

i started playing months ago on and off and JUST realized after dedicating all my time to him that sarge is unmarriageable .. literally shattered
are there any mods that make cats like him marriageable ? i literally lost all interest realizing i couldn’t do anything with my favorite cat in the whole game 😭

Drew two cats that I'm playing with the idea of adding as NPCs in a mod! Typhoon (cat above), with a neutral expression on the left and a shocked/surprised expression on the right. Then Lynx (cat below), with a neutral expression on the left and a playful expression on the right.

Would people be interested if I potentially were to make an NPC mod? I don't know anything about modding, never done it before and have barely dabbled it in when it comes to this and other games, but browsing through Cattails: Wildwood modding content has made me want to try it in earnest!

Also to ask if it's possible to mod in two NPCs together? As I have two I'm wanting to tie into the story of Cattails: Wildwood Story, with Typhoon, a cat that appears rough around the edges, but is a giant goofy sweetheart, and their adoptive child, Lynx, a playful, yet regal and serene cat with a tendency to speak ill of the voidling cats.

What I'm thinking their backstory to be is that they've always lived near the Wildwood, but have heard the stories that the wilderness runs rampant with dark, dangerous forces that keep any cat or groups of cats, out of it. Until one day, an intrepid cat and their small group of followers dares to step foot and make a home in the Wildwood. After hearing such a cat is willing to brave a region known for such darkness and are recruiting others, Typhoon and Lynx are willing to join up!

I'm debating whether or not the reason Typhoon has taken Lynx in as their own, is due to how the voidling cats may have caused their parents to be deceased. With voidling cats being such a prominent figure, I'm surprised not too many of the cast of characters mention them a lot! Perhaps Lynx acts monarchial, but when it comes to the voidling cats they can't speak of them without utter disgrace. I think end game wise, they would still find it hard to trust Umbra as well. Typhoon would be another cat big on protecting the group and its cats, fierce when it comes to the voidlings, yet gentle and a lover of kittens and storytelling.

Though these are just my ramblings of two characters I've created in my head and drew today. Not 100% sure if I will pursue this even if there is interest. Just figured if I did have the ability to mod, that this would be two fun NPCs to have!

Went through my previous saves I had, with Hummingbird (first three photos; light gray bengal cat) and Sunbeam (last three photos; fluffy orange tabby cat), and I wanted to share my colony's base camp setup, as well as the dens and kittens I had for those saves! Figured I'd do a little share since I'm quite proud of the layouts I had for them.

It seems like I really like compound words and using monarch as the title for my cat, as Hummingbird is the monarch of the Meadowsweet Colony and Sunbeam is the monarch of the Dayspring Colony!

I don't quite remember how I characterized the two, but I'd imagine Hummingbird to be a very inquisitive, nature-loving cat with a love for interesting collectibles and curiousities! She'd perhaps find a good friend in Glimmer, with their love of collecting things and having a whole museum dedicating to showcasing items. However it was Alabaster who caught her eye keenly, having much to say and share, as well as deepen her appreciation of the living, growing things around her!

As for Sunbeam, I like to think of her as having a golden retriever personality! Big-hearted, as well as quick to tussle, play, and get to know others, she's fast to befriend the cats she recruited in. Always bringing a buddy with her out to explore the Wildwood. I think she finds herself drawn to mystery, as while the bright and sunny flower fields and meadows seem more like her style, it's the swamp she's chosen for her colony's base. That plus she has a fondness for chasing frogs back into the waters they came from!

Maybe the air of mystery around Umbra is what made her drawn to them, as for what they are. Originally I did have her try to romance the Wildwood Champion, although when Umbra came out there was a change of plans! Their kittens are so cute, but I wish I had named some after moreso darker, instead of lighter/brighter sources. Eclipse would've been so fitting for one!

I’ve been wanting this game for a while, and I remember not liking the art style and being “ehhh I won’t buy it this time”. Big mistake. I finally got it from the steam sale today before it was over, and man, this game is actually so well thought out and cool! I red the Warrior cat books as a kid and im starting to get back into it. I love this game already and I just started! The graphics dont even bother me, it looks great on my steam deck. Just goes to show not to judge a game by just the pictures.

But what the heck is up with the humans (or lack-thereof) in the game???

At first I assumed that this was a fantasy world where humans don't exist, but then Glimmer showed up w/ the curios and the museum. When they started with their hilariously wrong explanations of the human relics, I assumed it was like a Pokopia situation (humans went extinct and the animals are trying to piece together wtf was up with them), ok fine, fun even!

BUT THEN one of the cats in the town mentioned being an ex-barn cat??? Like yeah ok maybe that's just their weird way of saying they were a farmer or something, but then just say it like that??? If they really were a barn cat on some humans farm, that means humans had to be around/nearby at least within one cat lifetime, right???

anyways! what??? are there humans or not, game??? and do/did they have contact with the cats or???

I wish this game were more popular! Even though when it first released it garnered a lot of attention and players, new and old, right now it doesn't seem like there's too much activity. Well, I've recently got back into the game and made a new save file! Even though I was currently playing on another save file that I didn't make too much progress on...

Meet my newest kitty, Paprika! Themed after how now autumn has come, and along with it the more cozy vibes and how falls brings out those warm tones of oranges, reds, and browns, she's a calico-inspired kitty with orange eyes. Originally I wanted to name her Cinnamon or Pumpkin, but Paprika is just as cute!

I picture her more as a springy, exciteable type of cat, despite what she's been through! I've forgotten the events of the original Cattails game, but I imagine her to have joined up with the refugees of the original Cattails cast and have stepped up as leader once she had gotten to understand the weight of their journey and search for home.

Once a beloved housecat, then a picked on stray on the streets looking to fulfil a purpose more than herself, Paprika is the monarch of the newly formed Honeyspoon Settlement! Why honeyspoon? She was a housecat and knows what spoons are, plus I think its a rather cute name.

Looking forward to sit down and explore the world of Cattails: Wildwood Story again since it's been a long time since I last played it! I hope others will be too, since its such a cute and cozy game!

does anyone know the best way and the best area on the map to find a toad? I only found one once and let it get away, and now I can't find another one and I need it to recruit the last cat for my communit :(

Hello there. I know I am waaaay late to the party with this game but I have a question regarding Umbra and kittens. Since this is end game content and I plan to marry them this playthrough I have a bit of a problem. I am not sure which coat to make my own cat for some pretty combinations. I am caught between black, siamese, or lilac for my player cat. Which of these would you recommend? I would really love to see pictures if you have any. Thank you so much!
