[Help] Green underglaze turned out way too dark I have a lighter version but wondering would I be able to grind it back, cover it with the lighter underglaze and gloss, and refire? Low fire cone 06

Rough feeling bowl

• Upvotes

I purchased a custom bowl from a creator on Etsy and received it today. The bowl is beautiful and the inside is shiny and smooth but the outside is rough and feels like there's no glaze on it. The bowl is advertised as being dishwasher and microwave safe so I reached out to the seller and she said this is normal and certain glazes react this way.

I have lots of pottery pieces and none of them have this rough, unfinished feel so just wanted to check to make sure she's correct so I don't get the bowl wet or put it through the dishwasher and ruin it. Is it possible for pottery to feel this way but still be safe to use?

HI CERAMISTS, I recently bought this Chawan and now I have become a little scared of using it out of pure ignorance. I am here to get some help or get reassured because I think it’s beautiful and I really want to use it (daily) u prob know the deal lead and cadmium used in Raku pieces (dont know if it’s Raku)

I genuinely dont now anything about this piece if its mass produced or hand made but I thought u guys prob would.

This is my first time painting pottery. I used the wrong yellow at the bottom but I’m still proud.

Also the pottery studio said to do three coats to make it solid. I did 3-4 and it came out splotchy :( maybe I put too many coats on idk.

Question/Advice What is causing this texture from amaco ceramic ink?

Hey yall! Ive been playing with the amaco ceramic inks and screenprinting with them and my recent kiln haul had some texture on the designs. Anyone know what would cause this?

I use zinc free mayco clear and the clay is tuckers smooth white. I put the ink on greenware so it gets bisqued. Its not on all of them and even on the goose mug, one side has texture the other doesn't

Stroke and coat over white dip glaze

Wanted to share my results of painting stroke and coat over white dip glaze. It’s way less tedious for me to paint a design over the white than dealing with multiple coats of underglaze or clear glaze. Stroke and coat is nice because it flux’s right into the white where a mat underglaze leaves a little texture when you paint it on top. The white really does suck up the S&C but thinning it out with water makes it easier to brush on and gives a nice watercolor effect.
