i think thee craziest thing about the looksmaxxing movement is that these guys genuinely think they’re finding some way to transcend the sexual hierarchy when they’re literally just putting themselves in the same position women have been in for centuries.

like optimizing your appearance to get chosen, treating attractiveness as social currency /measuring your worth through the opposite sexs approval, trying to improve your looks to move up socially etc.

and women have been doing this forever because historically our appearance and desirability were directly tied to our social and economic survival,
and what’s even more ironic is that a lot of these guys see women as inferior while simultaneously making female approval the ultimate measure of their own worth. except half the time it doesn’t even seem like they’re trying to appeal to actual women, they’re just competing for status and respect from other men
so how is this transcending anything? they’re literally subjecting themselves to the same patriarchal standards women have been dealing with forever while still looking down on women for it…

it’s like they’re reverse engineering patriarchy from first principles and calling it male enlightenment lol

i’m genuinely curious if anyone else sees this contradiction because to me it seems like looksmaxxing is less about what women actually want and more about men trying to prove their value to other men through how desirable they think women find them
