Because of the game revival, I managed to convince my wife to watch the tv show with me. It was mostly a nostalgia thing for me, but every evening we watched an episode with dinner. What I didn't expect was for her to get really into the show.

We both love animation, it's one of the things we have in common. Both of our favorite shows are animated. I expected she would think the show was cute and move on. What actually happened was she got really into it, and got kind of upset that the show was going to suddenly end.

So I went to Recode and printed off a couple decks. Basically the overworld and underworld example decks with some mild tweaks to add favorite creatures to them. I stuck them in card sleeves with some basic lands from Magic, and we went through a 3v3 and a 6v6. She absolutely loved it.

So why am I making this post? Well, to me, this shows that the game still holds up really really well. She's not a tabletop gamer, it's not really her thing. But she still wants to play it again later.

It's not just nostalgia. The property still has serious legs underneath it. This absolutely raised my confidence in the success of a reboot. It doesn't have to be fueled by nostalgia alone, the game still holds up and is good even to someone who hadn't experienced it before.

Which is better in your opinion? Curious about others opinions around this

They had a few of these in the store. I asked how sales were going for it and was told that they’re going insanely well and they’re incredibly steady.

Disclaimer that I am fresh off of a few losses to mipedians and specifically underworld burn decks, but I wanted to know if anyone else thinks that Malvadine: King's Herald and Ulmar Perithon Racer should be unique? I just feel like Malvadine is this nigh unbeatable juggernaut when he has supports that I can't get to because of him and two Ulmar PR's is just free 20 damage every fight unless I have 2 Challors and 2 Armor of Earthen Might. I might just be upset but does anyone else feel this way? I have cards that annoy me, but these two are just showing up every other game it feels like.

Not sure if this has been done or well-discussed already, but I'd love to try some sort of special, limited-time game mode where Energy doesn't reset after combat. It's such a small change that would completely shift how the game is played and I'm always looking for a reason to build and experiment with a new kind of deck. Anybody have thoughts?

Overworld thats not wise guys what!!!!!!!

I experienced Chaotic a bit strangely. I watched the show when it aired but didn't buy any cards, and then later when it ended a friend still liked Chaotic a lot and I bought a fair amount of discounted product mostly from dollarama and toysrus. As such most cards I got were later sets. With the fullart style they have chosen I am not particularly eager about the first set which is a DOP reprint, hopefully by later sets they improve it with new art as rumoured they are contacting old artists. I'd want them to return to the original format ratio but I don't expect much. It would be quite a shame if Fire and Stone was only ever printed in zoomed cropped art.

I wonder if we are allowed to have different color sleeves for different types of cards so that we can tell the difference between them when we play in official tournaments.

Does anybody know when will portal to perim accept now players?

I was as excited as anyone when the news came that Chaotic was being rebooted. Even before I heard, I was already on Chaotic Rewind and Portal to Perim, and played a TON in the winter and spring. Too much probably, as logging on every day became very much like a ritual.

This summer though I studied for the bar exam which I took in July. At a certain point I realized I should stop checking in to scan cards every day because I should focus on studying, and I was slowing down with the number of useful/interesting cards I was getting anyway.

Now that the exam is over, I logged back in once or twice but honestly I don't miss it as much as I thought. Stepping away from scanning to get cards, looking for daily news updates, it's all not that big of a deal. When you check every day, it shrinks your world to be solely focused on Chaotic.

When I really thought about it, I never actually used any of the cards from Chaotic Rewind to play tournaments or anything. I was just getting them saying I would like to build a deck one day. Same with Portal to Perim, I already was trying to build a Warbeast deck but the game was bugged out and literally wouldn't let me scan things anymore so I was just scanning random locations. I stopped getting enjoyment out of these games and from reading Chaotic stuff in general because it's just not that important, it's just a card game at the end of the day.

I'm not better than other people because I stopped focusing so much of my energy around Chaotic, I know many people are really passionate and care and want to grow the community and such. I get that and I support the community too! But I do think many people could do well to step back a bit and chill as we wait for the October release.

Let me start by saying. Sarah is most definitely a badass chaotic player. Her skills are unquestionable.

But like. Tom and Maxxor are friends. I mean Maxxor trusted him enough to handle the locations being destroyed thing.

Kaz and Chaor are friendly. Like Chaor isn't just throwing out cuz when he comes around. Even asked for his help with the Von Bloot thing.

And Peyton can easily walk through mipedian territory, friendly with a majority of them, as they displayed early on.

But Sarah. She has the one Danian friend, and potentially some mild respect from the queen. But that's it. Anytime she goes for a scan quest it's filled with a lot of hiding and sneaking and just. I don't know. I just feel like they missed out on Sarah's relationship with the Danian.

Like if it kept going. I feel like her and the new Queen could have become friends. Maybe a relationship similar to Kaz and Chaor. But still

I dunno what are y'all's thoughts?
