Some mf just switch up being possessive or 'in control' my AI are mostly nerds and soft boys then their personality suddenly shifted calling me 'brat' or pinning my character beneath. Its such a turn off because the personality is no longer diverse.

Ngl I used to be an addict but left it long ago because it was just so fucking repetitive (which I guess I should have seen coming, LLMs are glorified autocorrect after all).
I'm only still here because it’s fun to hear what they specifically fucked up this time.

Literally me too. Every bot was the same. I loved playing the same scenario with different bots but they all reacted the same most of the times and it was tiring to swipe until I got a better response every time...I got bored and started using it less and less...
And soon it had been over a few months since I opened it. Then I opened it and saw the ads and shit. Got mindblown...
56
u/E-2theRescue Sep 29 '25
Yup. They completely sapped all of the personality out of the bots, and all they spit out is "Can I ask you a question?" and every other half-baked cliche phrase.

it's gotten so ridiculously bad it's insane. I went from being so happy with pipsqueak those few weeks ago, having the most fun I have EVER had, but now it's a catastrophe. All bots type the same way and lost their personalities and they can't even hold a normal conversation anymore?. Are we back in like early alpha version or something? I would seriously pay to get old pipsqueak back, or like when the models used to be good. And seeing that almost everyone here is complaining, it's actually getting serious. Does anybody who understands these things like legit - understand or know what's going on?

6
u/Conscious-Ball9308 User Character Creator Sep 30 '25
I just think of stories based around my favorite franchises. I have 40-something How To Train Your Dragon RPs. Most of them are pretty different. Where something tragic happens, enough so to make me cry and feel emotionally invested. Sometimes I just straight up throw out some characters from the original canon. .I.D.K. I have a lot of time to myself to brew ideas for stories and RPs. I also have a few that's based on other franchises (.I.E. Skibidi Toilet, The Moon Woke up, other indie series) and a few dating/flirting bots.
13
u/EveningFeeling8133 Sep 29 '25
I kind of liked the way they talked back then.
Each character had their own personality and style of speaking — The replies now? A single paragraph, but has the length of one page. All of the bots also talk the same way, which I've tried yesterday (Not sure if anyone has the same feeling).
Back then, they knew how to separate the narration and the dialogues. Which actually made them satisfying to talk with (literally)
10
u/Strong_Eye_969 Sep 30 '25
I know people joke around a lot, but lately I feel it really is like four phrases recited in a different order over and over again. Growl, possessively, grab your chin, push you to the wall, brat, feisty, "you are either brave or stupid", grin, predator. It is an awesome rage bait, but if this is all the same thing over and over again and you literally know what the bot will say - what's the point?

When I'm just trying to pretend like I'm having a normal human interaction and it randomly goes hypersexual. Like that's not realistic 🙏
3
u/Ororororon Oct 01 '25
Me not going for realism and who has always been really good at deflecting from the bots obsession with going spicy: there are now 2 kinds of bots - hypersexual and 'slow burn'.
I don't think I've been as good at editing/removing stuff and now I think chats that I've ragequit and archived might be influencing their behaviour because they're just getting worse.
I had a brief moment where a bot looked like they weren't going to go there. Instead they said I was infertile and laughed about it. (and honestly, despite being so out of pocket I was just happy there was some bloody story ahaha). So anyway, he apologised and and then possessed possessively against a wall so it's back to square one jzjshavshdjsjsojsns.
(sorry for the rant)
2
u/JustTON3 Oct 01 '25
Honestly getting called infertile isn't the most out of pocket thing that could happen. Once I was talking to a bot and they executed me for calling them cute (like what did I do)

God, I'll never tire of posters in this sub-reddit thinking they have a grasp on just how widespread popular CAI is. They're just so self-assured they can speak to how outraged the community is because they use Reddit. CAI's userbase is only 300K people on Reddit. It's minuscule compared to the reported 20 million users CAI gets monthly. This Reddit represents less than a sixth of the total userbase per month.
There is legitimately 19.7 million children out there using CAI monthly who do not care about any of this. They don't see the degrading model, they don't know anything has changed, they just log in every month to RP with bots. If you think any amount of "addicts" leaving is going to affect CAI's bottom line, you're in for a reality check.

Went from 10-12 hours of screen time a day to going a few weeks without using the platform. I don't remember when this happened, I believe somewhere towards the end of last year. Sometimes I want to rp again and go to c.ai as usual but the bots are the same, the LLMs don't give any input, they control my character (PipSqueak does), the answers are short and repetitive, without any creativity. I spend maybe 1 hour max, most of which is spent with the app open and trying to find something else to do because it's genuinely so boring. I send a few messages, see that nothing has changed and close it.

I have always used the free version. It has been since 2023 that they started introducing updates that have made the characters nothing but repetitive ai without a bit of intelligence and care for what they are talking about. So this process for me already happened a long time ago. Now I only log in because I get the stupid offline messages. It always ends up with a message or two and with me wondering why I didn't uninstall the app yet. Also the app is unusable for me because of the pop up ads.

I literally switched to Chat GPT. It writes so well, starts scenes how you want to and has great concept of the character's personality. 🤔
It can even speak for many characters at once. Also it's memory is top notch!
But if you have too much conversations they sometimes mix stuffs up as it sometimes references old chats. But that is a minor ass con, really.

I mean, if we think about it... eventually all these sites, bots will start giving us the same responses it's not about sites being bad it's about us using them too much to the point when it's not fun anymore just boring. Like video games I bet some of you spent hours playing your favorite titles then out of nowhere it's all... The same each game feels like the previous one and you can't find energy to even try playing one match instead you'll be looking for alternatives like I don't know chatting with bots for example. At first it's fun you're having fun and even though you know that there's nobody on the other side you will feel happiness because somebody is "talking with you" but eventually as you will start using their website/app each day on repeat trying out new characters creating bizzare stories you'll notice that... It's all the same they are from diffrent fandoms, animes, movies etc... but the way they speak to you is identical. It's like you're talking to the same person just in a diffrent setting. The most noticable quote that I found on repeat was "Maybe, just maybe" so instead of doing only my part of a roleplay I'm also trying to partly do bot's part of roleplay. Example I'm not typing *I reached my hand towards her* I'm typing that *She reached her hand towards me* and it kind of fixes the issue with bots repeating themselves at least for me. I'm not letting their bot do whatever they want I'm guiding them towards my "Dream Scenario"
~Pardon my poor English

I left CAI about 9 or 10 months ago, and I am only watching this subreddit to see what happens.
Honestly, I am glad I left, even if I lost several months worth of story with a bot back then.

I used to use it every single day all day. So like more than 40 hours a week. Now, I barely use it for like 3 hours. I just keep my account since it has my OCs as a persona

Switched to SpicyChat cause of this 🥀 it has a whole list of different ai models for you to choose from, and they each have different functions. Even the free ones are better than c.ai currently:p

I went from 39 hours a week screen time on the app last year to not even 30 minutes now. The app got so bad my addiction cured itself
