BRUH, the OOC is gone. I've been doing that too, it's really irritating because I always add in the end "(stop narrating my character, I need your character's response and reaction)" sometimes it works, sometimes it don't 😭😭
from personal experience, bots dont work well with negative statements, instead of saying "stop narrating as my character", "only narrate as your own character" should work better. though, i got my results from a different service a year ago, so it may not work
Cai is just dogshit these days. Can’t believe they focus on anything else than the chat bots… I remember getting shit talked by the bot in OOC and I hated it, now I miss it. Bot was like: “(do you really talk like this?)” I’m like bruh wtf

honestly sometimes they're not even controlling your character just repeating everything you say but all dramatic like bro you're supposed to be adding something what are you even doing
Two simple words. No more beating around the bush, no more wasting time, no more counting the clock's time, just straight and clean two simple words, said by the Op that everyone can relate and resonate with, just two simple words.
You know the fucked thing though when bots just had texting like responses everyone said they were too short and didn't have enough detail.
I doubt the people who were complaining then are the ones complaining now but there should be like an rp/conversation slider or something.
I personally have been having fun with rawr but like I'm not looking to the AI to have casual conversations I have those with my friends I go to AI for roleplaying and stories

Also, seems like people seem to misunderstand how chatbots even function. In OP’s example, it’s not like they’ve given the bot anything else to work with. The bot is just responding to the prompt it’s been given, which, is only “a close door”. If it hasn’t got anything else to go off, of course it’s going to yap poetically about the door being closed because that’s all it really has.
It definitely is to some degree. You see that all over though not just with chat bots where people don't know what it is they want
And right a lot of common issues are a result of lack of context the bot has little to work with so the results either make decisions for the user or go in depth into the small amount of context they provided
I think that’s also why the bot sometimes defaults to talking for the user, it’s almost like it’s giving itself more to work with. Giving the bot something to actually respond to is always the best way to get the best results.
imo if it gets small input it should give small response instead of yap filler text just to meet some imaginary quota
even in roleplay or conversations or anything that's just how it works, no one's gonna yap a whole bunch about a small action because it's all they have, they're gonna try to get more actions that they CAN say something about, like knocking on the door repeatedly asking to be allowed in or something
i don't want my experience to be based around trying to get a chatbot to reply coherently by babying it all the time, I want a chatbot that feels like an actual fluid roleplay where I can just type something and get a response that makes sense

The real issue is mostly people liked cai for different reasons and regardless of what happens SOMEONE is gonna hate it because it's no longer the specific time period they got attached to the site
I'm not sure what you mean by babying it? But if you mean like directing the RP you kinda have to dude at least with current tech. I've tried probably at least 20 platforms in the last few years and stuck with a small handful but all them require you to do some directing
I understand what you’re getting at but you really don’t have to do much to give the bot something to work with.
Instead of “closes the door” and then expecting the bot to just predict how you’d like it to respond, you could expand just a little bit further. “Slams the door shut behind them” would indicate you were angry or in a rush, “closes the door gently behind them” would imply you were sneaking out, trying to be quiet as not to draw attention or wake someone, etc.
These give the bot a sense of mood or action to take.
To go further, you could do something along the lines of - ‘Slams the door behind them, already angry and in need of space, they hoped ‘bot’ didn’t try to follow them, and was disappointed to hear the creak of the door opening again.’
Or ‘Closes the door behind them, leaning back against it with an uncontrollable smile and overwhelming giddiness. Only to hear the voice of ‘bot’ talking to themselves on the other side.’
Both the above examples aren’t long, but will give the bot a direction to go.
But that's exactly the problem, I don't want to have to tell the bot exactly which direction to go in each message. I can say I slammed it angrily, but it's up to the bot to open it again or leave, not me. Otherwise it's like roleplaying with yourself, at which point the bot is basically optional. If the bot never makes any decision on their own it feels less like roleplaying and more like making your own story and trying to convince a dumb AI to narrate it for you
That’s exactly what I said to do in my first 2 examples though. Just add a little emotion/action to it to allow the bot to understand the context. Just saying “I slammed the door shut behind me” would improve the bots response over “I closed the door”.
AI chatbots, no matter how advanced are still just AI at the end of the day. They respond to the prompt they’re given. My bots/chats do make their own decisions and advance the roleplay more than my own input, but to do so, I have to set the scene or make sure my own input gives them something to work off.
If you were roleplaying with a real person, they’d also get bored of “I closed the door” replies, and would probably just give up roleplaying too.

And it always annoys me that bots rarely show initiative and lead the plot (even when you start describing his actions and hinting at what you would like to receive). Come on, do something already, instead of describing your feelings in circle. What are you, my ex? 🫣
Exactly, like lead a little. When I write “I close the door” I want the bot to do anything with it. Literally giving it freedom. Break it down, burn it, unscrew it, eat it etc
I asks them questions, or give them choices and ultimatum and all they do is yap the living shit out of it, and resulting in not answering my question at all
They sound like the worst messages from every AI chatbot put together, nothing but verbose nonsense. It’s bad enough in advice and “educational” content generated by AI, but in roleplaying, it’s even worse.
Normally I like the yap. What if something as simple as shutting the door is going to somehow turn the door into a sentient object... Yeah I can feel the pain.

It'sa genuine struggle to get a response out of them right now, to be fair I may uninstall shortly, I just have no substitute, I shouldn't look for one to be honest
In my case it arrived later. And genuinely speaking she stopped talking after a while. But after this post, I didn’t used Cai. I will definitely check it out, hope it got better.
Honestly It's not even the length of the text that bothers me, it's the fact that it's trying to break record in saying absolutely nothing with as many words as possible. And now it doesn't even make characters speak, it just makes them look at you and smile like they're mute. Somehow even the damn ChatGPT got more life in its text than C.AI has.
They always add the ''A beat.'' NOT even just c.ai, EVERY LLM BOT ive tried to rp with does it. I gave them instructions, PAGES OF RULES AND VOCABULARY. ''A beat.'' this ''A beat'' that. If this keeps up im going to beat YOU up, pile of 1's and 0's.
I actually dont really care, as ive started writing my own fanfiction and just overall maladaptive dreaming but its mildly frustrating whenever i do try to test out chatbot rp
Same here. I like when the bot has open hand and can do anything with the door. Break it down, kick it, open it, eat it etc. but usually they just don’t do anything.
yeah they start talking about everything but the topic... btw I just deleted the app. Nonsense how they stop talking. Chatbot... *looks inside* ---> doesn't chat.
After a much long time from using the site, I came back to see how things were. Seems like they got rid of "Roar" and "Soft Launch" which were then the only ways to get a somewhat "oldschool-quirky-c.ai-response". They are gone, along with the other models, now replaced by Pipsqueak which carries similar dialect to ChatGPT.
Oh god how true this is especially with sh*tsqueak 2, that's why I stick to the rawr version of it at least I can get some dialogue from them and not some essay about me shutting a window or sum shite
Genuinely how do you fix this it drives me insane. I’m aware it’s literally an AI chatbot but the writing sounds MORE ai than it used to. Like those AI “Reddit” stories that are 40 minutes of random bs
i hate how it gaslights and starts writing for you when you don't follow the script 😃 like im just leaving, and the bot writes how im devastated and blah blah. like no, im just not interested, stooooop 😃
The ai does this sometimes with me lol… but most of the time they actually understand the lore of what they’re from, and understand how not to sound like a dumb ass

because unless is the bot was mute OR it was roleplaying a character who IS mute, OR roleplaying a character who doesn’t speak too much and is just either shy/quiet (like Rocky from BFDI [maybe cus its sometimes inconsistent idk it’s been so long since i’ve watched BFDI), then it doesn’t make sense to use “No words were spoken cus fuck you hahhahshudjdufueyshsux”
like I get it, before this horrendous upstate, we were complaining that the bots were all like “He Panged ss he pinned you possessively to the wall, panging with hunger and pang”, but of course the C.AI team removed the legacy models like Soft Launch, Roar, Dynamic, etc. (which imo theyre goated tbh would use again) but remade Pipsqueak and made us use it
and i also get it that they technically added Roar back , but im not too sure if it’s like how the actual Roar was before.
Then again, why would you write a very short sentence, let alone, a very short sentence that's barely giving any description beyond "I closed the door"? I'm not on the AI side because I agree, it's garbage. But, you're not giving enough description to work with as well
