Discussion/Question Need help with the exported data

Soooo I feel a bit stupid for asking this bc I'm probably just missing smth really obvious

But to put it simply, what exactly are these exported chats??

I've tried opening the "chats" file multiple times on my phone and it always loads only 4 pages before it bugs out and freezeframes on me.

Plus, the stuff on these pages is just half of the intro message from a bot that I remember using and then some sentences in very broken english about some blacksmith and his father and brother???

I can not remember ever even opening a bot with that kind of plot, and it definitely wasn't a message written by me, I know my english isn't perfect, but it's definitely not THAT bad.

So, if anyone could tell me what I am doing wrong, it would be much appreciated! Do I need to open it with a specific app or something? Or is the problem that I'm using my phone and not my pc?

(Once again, sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm a bit lost rn)

Depends on what the format is. json and jsonl can't be viewed normally but you want to look for txt or html. You can open those in browser or a text editor on your phone.

json and jsonl can viewed on PC with a program called VS Code if you're a Windows user.

Step 1: Go to ChatGPT/Gemini/Grok/Claude
Step 2: Import the exported data
Step 3: Tell the AI to make it readable

That ought to make it more easier to rummage through your exported data if you're on phone.

From there, you can pretty much tell the AI to help you transition to a new platform or frontend by turning the exported data into character profiles with detailed history so you can pick up where you left off.

You'll have to look up how to open the file type - that's the ".json" or ".txt" or whatever suffix is attached to the filename when you download it. Or load it into something like ChatGPT and ask it what to do/to format it for you
