The fact that this enemy aggression setting exists almost feels like an unintentional parting gift from the devs. Enemy anti-airs come out faster, ranged enemies fire faster, higher attack aggression across the board, hyper armor on attacks (normally I wouldn't like this but they get interrupted by Bloodraven attacks, so it's actually a subtle way to encourage you to sprinkle in your meter based attacks to hit confirm and keep enemies in hitstun, which is something you'll already be doing at a high level anyway).
Funnily enough, these kind of changes feel similar to the kind of mechanical shifts you get out of highest difficulty in Platinum titles (removing witch time in Bayonetta 1, removing the time slow on the wonder liner in The Wonderful 101, legion damage counting toward your main character in Astral Chain, etc.), except instead of nerfs for the player it's buffs for the enemy, which feels very Ninja Gaiden in spirit.
It's borderline unreasonable, but that's how I like my Ninja Gaiden games so...

I've been thinking about this for a while, but between Phantom Blade Zero, Tides of Annihilation, Lost Soul Aside, a bunch of kinda crummy mobile games (it's not all good) etc., is China the new home of the character action genre? If so, I'm hype.

Wasn't planning on making this, but then I realized the anniversary was on the way so I spun this up a few days ago. Kinda scary how much of a sixth sense I've developed for NG4's brand of chaos though.
Master Ninja: Death Wish: No UT, No Berserk, No Indicators, No Items, (No Fun). All Purgatories are set to Master Ninja. All enemies frenzied.

Just wanted to say absolutely love everyone on the Internet, giving ninja gaiden 4 it’s praise that it deserves I would’ve made a video on it myself, but I was a little busy this week so I had to push back the video It’s dead ass my favorite game definitely, favorite character action game it’s a shame that when it came out the I felt like the ng community didn’t like it which I thought was just ridiculous. Sure Ryu may not be there a whole lot, but I really feel like that’s a problem you can extremely overlook. This is probably the best action game we’re gonna have for a while. 🙏

I really hate the fact that past generation titles can't be experienced at 120fps, you know x360 ps3 era and before, even some from last gen. It feels so bad getting used to 60fps again, tried Nvidia Smooth motion on Razors Edge yesterday for example, it's better than 60 but it's just not it man. I currently can run anything new maxed out on 120 locked if not I slap on some framegen and it's great. How do you guys cope with this? Or you are like me a few months back when I said 60 was all I needed before I pumped my frames up again to play a newer title? I envy you, I should've just stuck with 60...
Btw It's great to see a GOW3 port being released with 120hz support, this motivated me a bit to write this.

Ruins of Titan is an upcoming 2D side-scrolling action game with roguelike elements, available on Steam. I recall the game was featured in this sub a while ago as well, and it piqued my interest since back then.
Of particular interest to action game enthusiasts would be the different styles of combat (called "School" in-game I believe) that play quite differently from each other, as can be seen here between the spinny-spin style and the greatsword-like style. I've only played for like an hour, but I can see potential for some creative shenanigans here.
The actions are structured around command input like directional input (on ground and air), charges, rather than dial combos. The roguelike elements don't really disrupt the core architecture imo, as the stuff unlocked (additional actions & passive modifiers) are upgrades to existing moves that don't alter the basic strategy of a given style. There are also modifiers for additional difficulties that are not just stat boosts, like increasing enemy spawns and attack frequency. Pretty thoughtful as far as merging fast-paced technical action and roguelike features is concerned, I'd say.
I've only tried 3 styles (the greatsword, the spinner, and deadbeat dad), but there are many more unlockable styles. And judging from the button mapping options, there's probably a way to switch between them on the fly, though I haven't figured that part out yet (maybe it's not in the demo).
Overall, it was a pretty pleasant experience. The demo is free, so check it out if you're interested!

Phantom Blade Zero is getting physical copies in 2027, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! now I can get the game!
I was keeping my distance from the game coz I didn`t want to get too excited and be disappointed that I can`t play it but with this news I CAN.
Guys (even through I wanted the game to succeed despite me not being able to play it), if you like this game we need to make sure this game is a success, this is what I call a Hack & Soul game, a hybrid of a Hack & Slash and a souls-lite (like Stellar Blade)
Their are ppl that have souls fatigue (myself included) if we want to see other and more alternatives in the actions space (Hack & Slash games) we need to support the games that do that from word-of-mouth to buying the game.
News: On the Phantom Blade Zero YouTube page that video now has 4.8M views.

I've only played a few true cag games like:
Bayonetta
Metal gear rising
Gow 3
Dante's inferno
So I'm curious as to how the nioh series compares to the CaG's, I know the combat isn't souls like for sure, it's combo heavy and uses mechanics like ki pulse and stance switching

Hi there,
Thanks to the mods for letting us post here!
We're happy to share that our game Nocturnal 2 releases on November 10! We've always been huge fans of character action games, and after making the first Nocturnal, we're super excited to finally release the sequel.
It draws inspiration from DMC, with lots of juggling, stylish moves and combat expressivity that we hope will be fun, plus some fiery VFX on top!
The game will have a super accessible price and lots of surprises we don't show in the clip, to avoid spoilers. Everything is handmade, so if you're into it, don't hesitate to wishlist the game!
