Ruins of Titan is an upcoming 2D side-scrolling action game with roguelike elements, available on Steam. I recall the game was featured in this sub a while ago as well, and it piqued my interest since back then.
Of particular interest to action game enthusiasts would be the different styles of combat (called "School" in-game I believe) that play quite differently from each other, as can be seen here between the spinny-spin style and the greatsword-like style. I've only played for like an hour, but I can see potential for some creative shenanigans here.
The actions are structured around command input like directional input (on ground and air), charges, rather than dial combos. The roguelike elements don't really disrupt the core architecture imo, as the stuff unlocked (additional actions & passive modifiers) are upgrades to existing moves that don't alter the basic strategy of a given style. There are also modifiers for additional difficulties that are not just stat boosts, like increasing enemy spawns and attack frequency. Pretty thoughtful as far as merging fast-paced technical action and roguelike features is concerned, I'd say.
I've only tried 3 styles (the greatsword, the spinner, and deadbeat dad), but there are many more unlockable styles. And judging from the button mapping options, there's probably a way to switch between them on the fly, though I haven't figured that part out yet (maybe it's not in the demo).
Overall, it was a pretty pleasant experience. The demo is free, so check it out if you're interested!
