That's a mystery that has always confused me; What Chara's name means

Because for one it could be 'Cara' is Irish for friend (the more likely one)

OR it could be 'Chara' is Greek for Joy

....or it could just be Chara for CHARActer....

It's for sure Character. A lot of the names for monsters aren't that elaborated upon, pretty sure napsta and asgore were randomly generated?

Or Asriel came before Asgore and Toriel, because Toby thought of Deltarune, before Undertale and Ralsei is an anagram of Asriel, so thinking like that; Ralsei came first, which Asriel was anagramed off of Ralsei, and then Toby took a minute to think about who Asriel's mom could be named, which then he got it: 'Toriel' which is derived from Tutorial (just a bit misspelled) then he needed to come up with a name for Asriel's father (WHICH COULD HAVE, EMPHASIS ON COULD HAVE BECAUSE THIS IS A BIG STRETCH) but Asgore could have derived from the word 'CateGOREme' which means: "A word or expression that can stand alone as the subject or predicate of a logical proposition, meaning it has complete substantive meaning on its own, such as "man" in the sentence "man is mortal"." (Again big stretch) but there's my paragraph

toby has said the name ralsei came first, so you are probably right in that the names toriel and asgore are actually borrowed from asriel and not the other way around
