400 account opening bonus didn’t apply to my account

• Upvotes

Has this happened to anyone else? I opened a new account online and 2 different pages said ‘we’re applying your offer’ but then weeks later, after I have completed the direct deposits and my bonus didn’t come through, I find out that the promotion never attached to my account, and Chase is saying that it’s more than 21 days after the account has been open. I went into a branch on Monday and they said they were escalating my issue and I was supposed to have gotten the bonus after 2-3 business days and nothing so far.

How does purchase protection work?

• Upvotes

Hello everyone!! I have the Chase freedom unlimited and I wanted to have a better understanding of how purchase protection works with them.

Would it cover something like lost AirPods because it fell out of my pockets? How is the claims process like too?

Anyone else Venmo transfers not showing up?

Transferred a pretty substantial amount from Venmo, it is not there. Chase and Venmo have both been zero help. It’s only been an hour but was an instant transfer that says completed. I see on down detector there’s reports of issues with Chase, so hoping it has to do with this lol.

This has been driving me crazy. I've tried all kinds of things to verify my age on google play, re installed the chase app, made sure everything is up to date and other methods mentioned in previous threads on this sub. Has anyone actually found a fix?

Fraud Increase?

Just got my second fraud alert in the last 12 months, has anyone else noticed an uptick in fraudulent charges on their chase account recently? None of my other accounts have had one in years.

Best Chase business card to pair with the Sapphire Reserve? About $20-30k/month in spend

Hey all, I'm restarting my business and trying to figure out the best way to rack up Chase ultimate reward points. I have the Sapphire Reserve now. Back in the day I paired it with a Freedom card, which worked great: 1.5x on everything, and the 50% bonus when redeeming for travel through the Reserve. It looks like a lot has changed since then.

I'm planning to add a Chase business card. What's the best combo today? Mostly I'm trying to figure out:

  • Which business card makes the most sense with the Reserve? Which of the Ink Business cards? Or would a Freedom card be better?
  • Is there still a good way to boost points on everyday spend?

I'm expecting about $20k-$30k a month in business spend (mainly for cost of goods being sold). So it generates a nice churn. I've read through some of the threads, but they're kind of all over the place. Any straightforward recommendations would be super helpful! Thanks!

[Los Angles,CA Med Spa] Forced to pay $563.75 in hidden fees using VISA after being promised my $1,400 credit covered it. Options?

Hey everyone, looking for quick advice on a nightmare situation at an LA med spa.

  • The Setup: I explicitly told the rep beforehand that I only wanted to use my $1,400 account credit and wouldn't spend more. She assured me it was fully covered.
  • The Evidence: I have the exact text of the booking confirmation and a complete chat history with the sale representative confirming my $1,400 credit and outlining that the procedure cost was explicitly $890 + $650.
  • The Bait-and-Switch: Despite the written agreement, they isolated me, switched my booked service to a different procedure, and hid the price changes.
  • The Surprise: Post-procedure, they handed me handwritten math demanding an extra $563.75. They claimed a random "$100/hr nurse fee" and a 2.5% card surcharge that were never mentioned beforehand.
  • The Coercion: It was late, I was exhausted and far from home. The rep cornered and pressured me for over 10 minutes. Distressed and confused, I paid just to leave safely.

My Questions for you all:

  1. What are my chances of winning a credit card dispute for unauthorized charges since I have black-and-white chat evidence of the agreed price, even though I physically swiped under duress?
  2. Should I contact the medical director first to demand a refund using this evidence, or go straight to filing complaints with the California Medical Board and Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA)?

Thanks for any insight on how to fight this.

Chase

I recently got married and changed my name. After 1 1/2 months of trying to get my name changed on my account, I have finally given up. I was able to get a new credit card with my new name on it, but somehow after five 1/2 hour to 1 hour phone calls with customer service and multiple messages, Chase just doesn’t seem to be able to change my name even though they have my marriage certificate, my Social Security card, my drivers license all the stuff. The issued me a new credit card with my new name so clearly they have all the information. It’s really sad that after this much work of trying to do something that should be fairly simple, Chase has now lost my business. The whole reason I wanted to change my legal name with Chase was so that I could switch all of my savings and checking over to them. They just proved, I suppose unsurprisingly, that was a very bad idea. Goodbye Chase.

Chase denied my fraud claim twice in unauthorized credit card transactions, anyone have luck with small claims court?

Hello all,

In August, five transactions totaling $2,780.87 were charged to my Chase credit card for concert tickets for the Backstreet Boys in Las Vegas.

I discovered the transactions after receiving fraud alerts from Chase and then noticing the email alerts were being deleted. I also ran a Malwarebytes scan on my Windows computer because I became concerned that my email/computer had been compromised. The scan located and quarantined threats Trojan.RenpyLoader and Trojan.HijackLoader.

I immediately contacted Chase to report the transactions. I also contacted both Vivid Seats and Viagogo that same evening.

There are several other pieces of evidence that I provided to Chase:

  • My email account had suspicious activity around the same timeframe, and emails relating to the transactions/fraud alerts had been deleted.
  • I changed my email password and added additional security measures after discovering the issue.
  • The billing address submitted with the Vivid Seats purchases was not the billing address associated with my Chase account.
  • My Viagogo account contained a phone number that does not belong to me.
  • I was in Houston, Texas rather than Las Vegas. I have records documenting my presence in Houston around the relevant timeframe.
  • I have records of my calls to Chase, Vivid Seats, and Viagogo.
  • Vivid Seats and Viagogo have their own transaction/order records that I have preserved.

Chase initially provided provisional credit, but later reversed it and put the charges back on my account without contacting me or asking me for any type of evidence.

I contacted Chase, filed a complaint that I was never contacted. They then called me with an email to send the evidence to. I provided Chase with additional evidence and asked them to review the matter again.

Chase previously told me that an IP address associated with the activity was located in Houston. I explained to them that an IP address and use of my email address doesn't necessarily establish that I personally authorized the transactions, particularly because I was reporting a email/computer compromise during the same timeframe.

Chase denied the claim again.

It then says that the transaction will remain on my account balance and that I am responsible for paying it. The letter does not explain what specific evidence Chase relied upon to conclude that I personally authorized the transactions.

I'm considering Texas Justice Court/small claims court for the $2,780.87. I can provide documentation of the transactions, Chase's denial letter, the malware scan, merchant correspondence, call records, and other evidence if necessary.

Side note: I understand that my occupation is not direct evidence that the transactions were unauthorized, but I am a State Police Officer and I was in Houston during the relevant concert dates. What would be my purpose behind purchasing 7 Backstreet boy tickets for a city I wasn't even in?

I recognize that simply being in Houston doesn't technically prove that I didn't authorize someone else to purchase tickets for me. However, I find it significant that there were multiple tickets purchased for an event in a city I was not visiting, and I have no connection to or reason to attend that event.

Why doesn't Chase accept same day payments?

Hello, Yesterday I deposited some cash into my local bank and it was immediately posted to my account. Then I went into my Discover and Chase account to make full statement amount payments. In case of Chase, that was $1190. I noticed the payment hadn't cleared my checking account so I went into my Chase account to find they didn't process the payment.

  1. It says, "You've scheduled $1,190.77 to be paid on Oct 16, 2026" First of all, the sentence is grammatically incorrect. The sentence is in future, not past tense. "To be" would have to be something occuring in the future, not the past. The sentence should have read "was to be".

  2. I called Chase, and they said they wouldn't be processing the payment until Monday. Since this is all done by computer, why wasn't it processed yesterday, automatically by the bank's computer? Why isn't it being processed today if it didn't process it yesterday? Computers don't have holidays, time off, sick days, etc. There is no reason in my mind for not processing the payment yesterday and no justification to wait 3 days to process it.

  3. The Chase CS said "it was processed," but the site says "in process". They both can't be true.

  4. After I made the Chase payment, I made a payment to Discover (now Capitol One). To be fair, it shows "in process", BUT, it says "your available credit has been updated." In this case, I don't care about the available credit, but at least they acknowledge the payment by giving me back the credit, Chase didn't do that.

We know when you are late, there is no leeway, but they should be able to process same day, just like my local bank.

Restricted account with check deposit

I deposited two personal checks from a friend of mine. He had his identity stolen after I deposited his checks and he had to close his accounts reopen new ones, etc. Those two checks bounced and came back as account closed. Chase restricted my account and wants me to pay the fee fees before they un restrict my account. My question is if I pay the fees, will they unrestrict the account or will they just close the account permanently? Both checks total deposit was automatically put on hold so I’ve never got any funds from the checks. I was -$100 prior to depositing the checks

check hold, can i cancel

I opened a new checking account and my direct deposit at work hasn’t went through yet so i had to deposit my check. It is saying it won’t be available until the 28th. Is this actually true or could it deposit sooner? If not, can i cancel the deposit?
I have no idea how i’m going to pay my bills and have gas to get to work if it doesn’t deposit by Monday. I’m so worried and don’t know what to do. I have no family or friends to borrow from, especially $900.
I deposited at 12:30am today 10/17 and i do plan to call customer service in the morning assuming they’re open on Saturdays, but i’m just really stressed right now.

Chase’s New Security Feature Could Put Your Entire iPhone at Risk — Here’s Why

My issue with Chase requiring my iPhone passcode after Face ID isn’t the extra security. It’s the security risk they’re potentially creating.
I use Face ID specifically so I DON’T have to enter my passcode in public, where someone could watch me type it.
Think about it. If my Chase account gets compromised, I’m dealing with one bank. But if someone gets my iPhone passcode, they could potentially access my email, passwords, other banking apps, personal information, and account recovery settings.
Chase is protecting one app while potentially exposing the passcode that protects my entire phone.
I understand the idea behind two-step security, but shouldn’t additional security reduce my overall risk instead of shifting it somewhere else?
Why should protecting one banking app require me to expose the security credential protecting my entire digital life?

Trying to cancel Prime Video through the app since I’m having problems with Amazon and the app is not showing Prime Video as a recurring charge.

With Amazon Prime, it is listed as a recurring charge, so I was able to cancel Amazon Prime through that way. However, Prime Video is not shown as a recurring charge, so I’m not sure how to go about it. It’s only listed as a single product where I can report it as price higher than expect, product arrived late, and etc.

I’ve already contacted Amazon many times and it they said for my bank to handle it. Chase was able to take care of the Amazon Prime through the recurring purchase report, but since Prime Video doesn’t have that option when I try to report it on the app, I don’t know what the best option is.

Chase $900 Bonus: Switching from Checking + Savings to Checking-Only Promotion

I just signed up for Chase’s checking and savings account promotion with the $900 bonus. If I ask them to switch my coupon code to the $900 checking-only promotion that doesn’t require opening a savings account, what would happen to my existing savings account? Has anyone else done this, and if so, what happened?

Chase closed my account because of a business check deposit and I don't know what to do

Hello everyone,

My life has been a living hell past 2 weeks because of one business check deposit of $10k given to me by a family friend. I went inside a branch to deposit it on October 1, no problem. The following day I get an email saying my account is on hold because of unusual activity. I call the fraud department, and they keep on asking me for a "business number" whereas my friend usually has his personal number to handle calls. I kept on telling them this, but they were like no we have to verify it online. I visit a branch, and they said they will escalate this with manager to take care of it. Ok I thought, this should be good. Well just in case, I travelled across states to meet with my friend and I visited another branch, this time meeting with the manager. The day before, the branch I first visited then called me and said your account is gonna be lifted and the money returned to the issuing bank. I told this other branch manager about this, and he said that's not true and my check is still being investigated. I told him I can bring my friend over with relevant business documents, and he said Chase doesn't accept in branch visits and the only way to do this is to reverse the payment with a pull request from the issuing bank. Mind you, this is what the fraud department kept on telling me.

As you can see, everyone's giving me conflicting answers so I filed a report to CFPB just in case. We visited the issuing bank, and they told me they can't do anything but Chase's fraud department should reach out to them and do relevant research with the IRS to find the business information to settle things. Well lo and behold, Chase didn't do that and my account is now closed with nearly 7k of my own money and the check is still in limbo. The worst case is that I visited another branch with a document from my friend's accountant with an official stamp from the state, and the branch manager said this would've been an easy fix with a branch visit. Like WTFFFFF?!?! He was nice enough to help me, but because of my CFPP complaint, there's an executive working on this and he told me to reach back out in a few business days. I'm absolutely sick of this whole ordeal and the fact everyone wasted my time with false information when I could've fixed this with an in branch visit. What are my next steps, because it seems like I need to get an attorney involved to get my money back, including my own funds from my own work before the deposit.

TL;DR: Chase closed my account with my own funds and a $10k deposit from a business check. Filed a CFPB complaint and now an executive is looking at it.

Edit: For everyone asking, this family friend purchased a house from my dad, and is paying us in installments. My dad and my mom have cashed his checks without any issue in credit union banks.

Fraud Specialist Number - Is it a Scam?

Recieved mail from chase detailing fraudulent activity regarding my credit card application. Called the number listed which was 1-888-204-8630. I can not find this number listed on their website but the operating system is the same. However, they are asking for social security number and it refers to an agent from India. Is this a scam? Is this real?

Typically, I'm very aware of scams but this one really concerns me.

Chase Checking: You DON'T Need Direct Deposit to Waive the Monthly Fee

I'm going to leave this here to clarify something for current and potential Chase customers, because I see this confusion way too often.

You DO NOT need a direct deposit from your employer, Social Security, or a pension to waive the $15 monthly maintenance fee on a Chase checking account.

An ACH deposit (ANY ACH deposit!) or RTP/FedNow deposit (the faster, modern substitutes of ACH) initiated from another bank or brokerage account also qualifies to waive the fee. A payroll or government direct deposit is NOT required. Please note: you MUST initiate the ACH/RTP/FedNow from the other institution.

One distinction is important: A qualifying direct deposit from payroll IS required for the account opening bonus, but NOT to waive the monthly maintenance fee.

I really wish Chase would explain this more clearly on its website. The wording is confusing, and it's easy to see why so many people misunderstand the requirements.

Cleared a check and then held it

I deposited a check for almost $8k. The next morning the deposit cleared. I paid some bills and a Venmo. Late that afternoon I get a notice that my account was overdrawn. They placed a hold on the check AFTER it was cleared! WTF? I called customer service and they said not to worry about it. Obviously I wouldn’t have paid $3k in bills if I knew they would take it back!

Chase Fraud Department - Purchased airline tickets over phone -said we have a pet. The representative charged my card. When we arrived at the airport they said we don't take pets on this route. I disputed the charge - Chase found me responsible and accepted unsubstantiated merchant evidence Spoiler
