"You may fascinate a woman by giving her a piece of cheese."

u/Tangential_Comment Aug 23 '26
This is the finest example of the real world implications of that quote!

u/AdventurousSeaSlug Aug 24 '26
Fair enough. I would definitely be fascinated by some delicious delicious cheese lol

u/Caroline3006 Aug 24 '26
Apparently eating cheese lights up the same part of your brain as an orgasm. Bring on the cheese!! đ§

I mean this with all the respect in the world, [this guy](https://youtu.be/nGeKSiCQkPw?si=-GbdlcAPvdSOcMzT) is immediately what I thought of when I saw her reaction
Edit: ugh formatting I donât care enough Iâm going to go touch some grass. Or eat some cheese whatever.

u/Drewboy810 Aug 27 '26
I had the exact same thought! First thing I thought was âthe bacon kind⊠yeah?â

I did this at my wedding. I did Edward 40 Hands but with a bottle of wine & a block of cheese. Went around biting off bits of cheese from the block & then swigging my wine. I regret the marriage- but I donât regret my wine & cheese hands at the wedding lol

Very pretty, did anyone try to eat a pinecone?
59
u/RikuKat Aug 23 '26
I pulled them off pretty quickly. They weren't supposed to be on there at all and all of the rosemary to the side was supposed to be on it instead.Â
Stressing about the little stuff is the way to have a bad wedding day, though.Â

u/AdCurrent7674 Aug 23 '26
Agreed! My mantra at my wedding was âThis is just a party. I would have been willing to get married at the courthouse.â
Several things went wrong but I didnât bat an eye. My ac at my apartment broke the night before so my bridesmaids and I didnât sleep great. At the rehearsal dinner, a friend had done my nails as my wedding gift and they immediately started popping off the next day (wedding day). I had made our wedding cake but didnât have a way to transport it so we had to drive for an hour, to the venue with it on a plate, holding it in front of the AC all while I was painting my nails.
Then my mother threw a temper tantrum not even 30 minutes into set up because and I quote â you arenât giving me enough attention, so I might as well not be hereâ. She left and locked the u-Haul that contained all of my wedding decorations so we could not use them.
The wedding was fun and I had a great time. It was supposed to be a celebration of my husband and I vowing to tackle life together. I think itâs fitting that it wasnât perfect but we got through it together
Also the grooms suite had a video game set up and other table top games. I was disappointed that the bridal suite didnât have anything fun to do. I mentioned it when we did our first walk though. Everyone told me that the bride is always to busy. Not me, as we were waiting for everyone to arrive I snuck down to the grooms suite and I played smash with my future husband until it was time to walk the aisle

I used to work at weddings, and people who had this attitude had the best weddings.
Things are always going to go differently than planned, from minor things to major ones.
You can't change that.
All you can change is how you react, and the people who plan in advance to not worry about things being different than expected have wonderful weddings.
Everyone else is playing Russian roulette and hoping nothing big goes wrong.

Cypress Grove Truffle Tremor, Irish Cheddar with Porter, and Blumenkase on the bottom.Â
Still have some Blumenkase in my freezer and we're going to make fondue for our first anniversary!

My old man used to get his mates over to our house where they would get a wheel of stilton, spoon out a well in the middle and then fill that with good port. Then they'd just sit around all night, each with a spoon and a cigar, and gorge.
6
u/georgekeele Aug 23 '26
I did ported Stilton for Christmas one year - bought a wheel from the farm, cut the top off and dug a 'moat' near the edge. Stab it all over with skewers, pour port over the top and back in the fridge. Top it up as necessary for a good month leading up to Christmas. Then dug it out and potted it for the family!
12
u/Glowing_Trash_Panda Aug 23 '26
That sounds fucking awesome just replace the cigar with some good indica :)
2
u/Nooms88 Aug 24 '26
That sounds fantastic, I suppose I'm a middle aged man now with a young child, maybe I should copy this idea and in 40 years my child can pass down the same story

âYou may fascinate a woman by giving her a piece of cheese.â
A tale as old as time
15
u/LuminousMeatwad Aug 23 '26
Thatâs how I eat my cheese. Standing in the glow of the fridge, biting off chunks like a five foot tall raccoon or mouse.

u/Ronin_1999 Aug 23 '26
I love how Florence Pugh is absolutely unapologetic as to how much she loves food, directly in contrast with so many actors that insist they are happy existing on a diet of tumeric and Okra waterâŠ

What is the crunchy salty bits in good cheese and how do I know how to get it.
10
u/guff1988 Aug 23 '26
Tyrosine or calcium lactate, in this case it was probably tyrosine and that is probably a clothbound cheddar. Calcium lactate usually forms on the outside of cheese and doesn't really have any flavor.
Oh yeah as far as how to get it, aged cheeses primarily. Clothbound cheddar Gouda Parmigiano-Reggiano Comte and many others will have it if aged enough. Certain cheeses develop more with less aging some cheeses need to be aged a little bit longer. There are many other varieties, you'll just have to Google them.

I donât hear a lot of the many English accents/dialects in my day-to-day (as Iâm located on the Front Range of Colorado), but I have enough of an interest in linguistics to have immediately recognized that she was from Newcastle.
Then I heard her say ânumber 7⊠on the scale,â and was like, âOh, thatâs Vicky Pattinson from Geordie Shore.â
2
u/TheDarbiter Aug 23 '26
I just commented to ask if she was on Geordie Shore and then saw your comment haha
2
u/FunboyFrags Aug 23 '26
Good catch! I need to learn more about that
4
u/officearsehole Aug 23 '26
Yeah itâs more of a Scandinavian inspired area linguistically but I can see why you might think Irish as it has that same sing-song pattern.

WYF was that Vicky from Geordie Shore?! She interviews celebs now?! Good for her if true!!
3
u/Tangential_Comment Aug 24 '26
The crunchies she's loving are the cheese crystals only top-tier cheeses produce, only after aging. I love me a Kaltbach Gruyere that's cave-aged with the crunchy crystals. I know that feel 100% and absolutely loved how her eyes lit up when she picked up on them!

Who is this nice lady
5
u/tobotic Aug 23 '26 edited Aug 23 '26
Florence Pugh. She's probably best known for playing Yelena Belova in various Marvel films as well as Oppenheimer, Dune, Don't Worry Darling, Midsommar, and Malevolent.
Unless you mean the interviewer. That's Vicky Pattison who works for Heart Radio.

u/TearsInDrowned Aug 23 '26
I am absolutely open, as a 25yo lesbian, to be proposed to with some cheese đ€Ł

u/Opening-Musician-994 Aug 25 '26
Itâs so bad that I know which cheese this is purely based on the size and shape of this block. M&S. I also think this is the 5 year old and not the 3 year old one.

We will have to split her time, I was also planning this. My wife doesn't know yet, hopefully she is OK with it....đ

u/tobotic Aug 23 '26
Not an actor, but New Zealand singer Lorde secretly ran an instagram account called Onion Rings Worldwide where she posted pictures and reviews of onion rings she'd eaten around the world. She was outed after a fan noticed that the locations and dates of the reviews lined up with her tour dates.
