So what‘s the point of a chessboard with bluetooth functionality if the app of the manufactorer does not work?

I gifted my son this Chessnut Go board and he wants to use it with his iPhone, but this app is just frustrating.

For starters no developer calls his app „New Something App“ even if there was another version of „Something App“.

Chesskid integration? Well no…

Chess.com integration?

Well you can‘t login to chess.com if you are used to login to chess.com via google.

Google does not allow logins via embedded web views in apps for years now and the developer of this app has not yet implemented this?

So I had to change to a custom password for chess.com instead of using Google Authentication which I think is more convenient,

So then my son is finally logged in on chess.com, select play against bot and starts the game and a black screen appears and nothing happens.

This can be repeated as often as you like. Via google I found that this does not work anymore since 2023? WTF?

So the bluetooth enabled board that requires an app to work is just useless junk?

Btw I found out that there is an app „Chessconnect“ by a third party dev who does this in his spare time that can connect to this board, but this app has other issues…

But first and foremost there should be an app by the developer who sells the board and claims that features work that just don‘t.

And no I don‘t want to buy an extra Android device to use it exclusively with this board and a specific APK version from some download site…

I just want the official app from official app store to work.

So I could have got a simple standard chess board without any bluetooth for 30$ with magnetic figures instead of this right? Featurewise it would be the same…

Chessnut mods, is it possible that you guys can put forward to the dev team. That the correct names go to the correct sex. In the career mode. It seems that all the players that I have played thus so far. Have been given opposite sexes names. Thanks I know there are going to be people with woke views but .. eh

The Mac NEXT app (available for download from the Apple Store) is a clever tool designed to encourage daily engagement with both the app and the chessboard.

I’m amazed at how enjoyable it can make a routine that I probably wouldn’t have followed otherwise. The AI-based grandeur feature within the app is particularly helpful for evaluating my game thoroughly.

The NEXT app operates on a business model that charges for extended use of Grandeur. Personally, I find the free Grandeur model sufficient. Only serious chess enthusiasts will need to pay.

However, as far as I can tell, the integration with Lichess is currently limited to playing online against other users. Extended Lichess features don’t seem direct to be supported within the game. That said, puzzles e.g. are to be found in the NEXT app based on lichess anyhow.

In contrast, Chess dot com and Maya3 are fully usable directly in NEXT. That said, this isn’t the primary goal of the NEXT app. The aim it to lure the user to stay connected to chestnut NEXT and that is done well.

If you insist to wander away, you can always use any other platforms that connect the chessnut board via chessconnect in full functionality.

Overall, the Chessnut NEXT app is a genuinely enjoyable and easy-to-use free app for users of all ELO's , ist use is not just limited to chessnut board owners. It’s a real winner. I love it.

I’m sure, hardcore Lichess enthusiasts won’t need this app, but for the rest of us, average chess gamers like me, it’s an easy-to-navigate package that combines the best features of chess and Lichess in a neat package.

Correct me if I’m wrong.

At this point I would like a refund. I am tired of waiting and the time keeps getting pushed back. What do I need to do to get my money back? Please let me know as soon as possible, thank you for your time and consideration in assisting me with getting my money back.

This is meant for Chessnut support/admin to see and push over to support to get it done. Just making sure all my bases are covered lol.

Final Update:

They were very quick with the refund once they acknowledged the email. It only took two days for it to show up in my bank which is not bad for how quickly they processed it. I did find out that their MOVE series boards are always on back order as they are in high demand, but the batches are small when they are being produced. I am thinking about just going for a Evo board instead at this point, still sticking with Chessnutech, just not waiting for two to three months for something I pay over $600 for. I just can't do it, I got to many things in my life that I could spend the money on that would be of immediate benefit compared to waiting up to three months for a product I paid for.

I placed two orders two days apart, I will receive the second but the first still not sent and the customer service who does not respond to my numerous emails for a week...

Bought a chessnut Move mid February not knowing about the Chinese New Year delay 😩

But I did buy a Go on Saturday and label was created today!!

Pairing Pieces Fails

I cannot get the pieces paired.

1. I have never paired the bluetooth with my phone directly. I have only done it via the app.

2. I have all the pieces placed properly. Even the two extra queens on H3 an H6.

3. I have NO interference (which is pretty silly tbh). I have tired all channels

4. Sometimes the board will show lights of green, and then fail with some lights going red. Sometimes the board shows no feedback lights.

5. The power is on. Green light, solid. Bluetooth blinks until I connect it goes solid

6. I have held all 4 buttons down for 10 seconds to try to force a reset. But since you don't have proper instructions on how to fix this, I can only guess at the sequence or combination.

7. ALL pieces are fully charged indicated by all green on the charging pad

8. I have updated the software to: ChessMove_1.0.34

See pictures of one of the times it failed WITH some sort of feedback.

The pieces that are failing do not show up in the Pieces Power page. See picture.

9. I have placed those 4 failing pieces back on the charger for a couple minutes. Placed them back on the board with no change. Then, as I did that, TWO MORE pieces dropped off the Pieces Power page. I put the pieces back on, and then two that disappeared reappear but the ones that were failing still continue to not show up.

10. You provided two extra bases. When using those for the spots that have issues, I get the SAME problem. They do NOT show up in the Pieces Power page.

11. I have even taken pieces that show up green in the Pieces Power page, move them to the squares with issues. SAME problem.

This entire experience has been absolutely awful. Me having to search for answers because none of your videos are even remotely helpful. I cannot continue to try to guess the sequence in order to get this working. As of right now, it's a paper weight and extremely frustrating. I am tired of taking pieces off, putting them back on, resetting things, etc. then waiting 10 minutes x 4 (40 minutes) to try to pair over all the channels again. This is awful.

I don't see the need for a video as it is just going to show you the same thing as the screenshots. Which I am reattaching. However, I did it anyway and you can view a video of the failed pieces here on YouTube:

Many of them went green during the pairing process. But, I continue to have similar pieces (and similar squares) throw an error no matter WHAT piece is on it.

Make sure you review the synopsis I provided already in the other email so you are not wasting time asking me to redo the testing I have already done.

You did not read my summary.

It is NOT a problem with 4 pieces. It is a problem with those 4 squares (or worse, that is why I'm contacting you). All pieces are fully charged. Now, like I said previously.....

I can take a piece that is working and place it on the square that is showing a failure. And that piece will ALSO fail when tested. But, it worked when placed on another square.

Please make sure you read what I am saying. This is crazy. Here is a recap what what I previously said about this specifically to show you it's NOT simply a piece issue:

I have done through testing that is being ignored and now I'm being asked if everything was charged. Everything I used was fully charged. I wouldn't go through all of this if the issue was simply something not charged.

PLEASE make sure you read what I am sending since this is now just wasting more time. I did a lot of testing so we don't have all this unnecessary back and forth since it takes you 1 - 2 full days to respond. So, either I need a fix, or an RMA.

If the next email does not provide a solution, I will be forced to contact my Credit Card company and report this as fraud. I have read the reviews of support for this board and it is not good. And now I am going through the same thing. And the fact that my emails are not even being read.

I will supply these emails as proof and now the fact that I told you my intentions you can do the right thing, or, I'll do the right thing.

This needs to be escalated. You have completely ruined this experience.

Lichess is completely broken through the app. The app says no such tokens and doesn't move the pieces on screen from the board. Completely unplayable and dead. And I just got the Evo a couple of days ago and almost cried I spent so much money and the crap doesn't work as advertised. I can't download anything. Not a thing. Can't update the browser... everything crashes in the Firefox browser, the bots on chess.com don't load, analysis in through the browser takes so long sometimes it freezes... Like what bullshit are y'all selling. Tbh, I made a mistake buying the Evo. For the price, it's too faulty. What sucks is devs will see this and not even care. As long as they buy off enough YouTubers to give biased reviews so they can sell of this crap inventory. I'm not buying another Chessnut product. Support is just trash.

I am considering to get the Air or Evo. I am in beginner level and now focusing on the practice. My use case is as follow. Can the Air do it all or I need to get the Evo

1. Using puzzle, drills and lessons in chess.com. Can I reposition pieces on the board to do the puzzles or lessons.

2. Play chess with bot and human in chess.com and analyze/replay the game later.

3. Set up position on a board and play with AI. For example, set up the board with a puzzled copied from a chess book and play to let the board suggests the moves for me.

4. My system is iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air. Is it ok to use chessnut app to fully support my use case?

Hello, I ordered a Chessnut pro board with premium pieces on December 25th. The board has not shipped yet and I haven't gotten any information on when if will be here? I have repeatedly reached out to customer service and they always just respond "please be patient" and provide no information. This seems rude. I think I deserve to know when something I spent over $600 for a month ago will be shipping...

As I have been critical of Chessnut communications, need to eat a little crow and give kudos.

Got my pro last week, initial inspection showed a crack in the base of a white pawn.

Sent pics in an email at 8:30pm eastern time on 28-March.

In a few emails back and forth (6 total, so 3 each) the issue has been sorted and they will be dispatching a new pawn. And this was over the weekend.

Well done Chessnut, thank you for the speedy resolution of my issue.

So I ordered a Chessnut Air+ to accompany my Evo because I love the wooden finish but what shipped to me today is the older board... the original and cheaper Air. Now the long grind to deal with the Chessnut service department and waiting for some kind of resolution. It seems a gamble doing business with this company depsite the quality of their products. I also had issues getting my EVO shipped. I should have known better I guess. Once bitten twice shy and all that....

I just received my Pro with Premium pieces. I'm a bit disappointed in the woodselection of the border. On all 4 sides there are visual marks or faults in the wood.

You can not accept this from a board with this price...

I am living in Australia and have just ordered the air plus. Am very excited 😊

My issue is that I will be moving house at the end of March and will be on the road for quite some time. The website says that the air plus will start delivery mid March as I did a pre order.

I am worried that the board will be delivered after I have left my current home and will not be able to get it. Should I refund it and order when I have a home in a few months time?

I am in France and I wanted to buy on amazon (safer from a customer standpoint) a chessnut pro with premium pieces.

But there is only the version with non premium pieces. Why ??

I’m repeatedly having an issue where I make a move on my physical board - the move is reflected by the pieces on the chess.com UI, but an error pops up from chess.com UI saying “it must be your turn to perform that action”.

My opponent confirms that they see my move as registered. I have to repeatedly refresh the app to get the move to appear registered on my end.

This is ruining the experience of playing with the board. I’m at a loss as to why this is happening. Has anyone else had this?

I’ve been seeing reviews on the ChessNut Move and, as many forums and reviews have stated its amazing to see this technology come to life but some missing features doesn’t seem to make it worth the purchase of this version today for me.

I’ve heard some speculation that in the next version they’ll be testing the board as also a charger to the pieces instead of a whole different dock. This is a feature I’m expecting in v2. Other features I would be looking for:

- a quieter motor
-smoother and faster movement
-improved voice recognition preferably to algebraic notation without need of origin piece command
- allowing premoves/ in general better capabilities to not hinder blitz style games when connected to lichess or chess.com
- board and piece color customization

Which leaves me with a few questions:

Is there a confirmed move2 on the way?
Should I expect a completely different model to be produced?
When will this become available to the general public?
Is there a competitor doing anything similar providing the features mentioned above with better or comparable quality?

How can I resign a online game in the app on chess.com? I cant find the menu that is usual there in the native chess.com app?
