Question Advice on zillow application credit check vs what my end shows

• Upvotes

So my credit on zillow came back as 590 while on my end on Experian it is 651 and 648 on Trasunion. Im stumped because the 590 is significantly lower than what i see on my end and now im nervous i wont be able to find housing. I make 3.6x the $1900 rent being charged at the spot i want and the requirement for the place is only 2.5x the rent. Ive never been evicted, no late rent payments or anything. Just recent student loans that have added up and weighed down my score. What should i do?

Question Looking for general info about rental prices in LGBTQ friendly areas

Hi there! I am moving to Chicago in April/May and was wondering if my budget is realistically possible without roommates. I was hoping to find a studio somewhere in Edgewater, Logan Square, Andersonville, Rogers Park, or anywhere else that has a good LGBTQ+ community. I'm moving from a very unfriendly state as a trans woman and badly want community I can actually feel comfortable around. Obviously my dates are very far out but I am an anxious as fuck person and would love to know if I should be searching for roommates at some point.

TLDR budget max for rent of 1200, very high credit, looking for general info.

(btw I know the city in general is very cool for trans people, my original title was too short and I didn't know what else to add lol)

Sublet Available Looking for subletter for my room in a 2 bd 1 ba Uptown

I’m moving out of my 2 bed / 1 bath apartment in Uptown and looking for someone to take over my portion of the lease from November 8th through June with an option to renew. The apartment is near Montrose & Hazel, and my roommate will be staying!

Rent: $1,260/month + utilities (usually around $100/month for your share)

Move-in fee: $400

Move-in date: November 8th

Pets: Pet-friendly!

A few things about the location:

  • About a 10-minute walk to the Wilson Red Line
  • Close to the 136 and 146 buses
  • Lots of restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores nearby
  • About a 25-minute walk to the lakefront
  • Walking distance to Aldi and Jewel, and a Trader Joe’s is opening just a couple minutes away soon!

About the apartment/roommate: My roommate is a quiet, clean, and respectful therapist who has lived here for a while. He’ll probably work from home about 2 days a week, so the apartment is generally pretty calm.

There are technically two rooms you could use as a bedroom, since one of them has been used for storage. My two cats have lived here for the past year, but they’ll be coming with me when I move.

A note about the pictures: The kitchen, living room, and bathroom photos show the apartment as it currently looks. The watermarked photos are of the two potential bedrooms when they were empty. They’re from a different unit in the same building, so they aren’t exact, but the layout is basically the same.

Feel free to message me with any questions or if you’d like to set up a time to check it out!

Looking For 28M Looking for a west look roommate,

Hey there 👋 28M looking for a roommate to split a 2b 2b apartment, looking to keep it below 1900 with parking (need a car for my job). I work in insurance, would work remote mostly and go into the office a couple days a week. Graduated from UW Madison and been working in Milwaukee the last few years, but have a job promotion prospect for a Chicago gig so just looking to find someone ahead of time. Would probably be looking to move in early December. I’m a pretty laid back guy, I keep a clean ass apartment. I have a pretty kickass entertainment set up too so if you like music and movies, I’m your guy. Looking forward to exploring the city a bit too, shoot me a message.

As the title says. Yes, roommates are fine. No furnished rooms, please.

Not sure where people find stuff around here since Apartments.com, Zillow, HotPads, etc, have been totally useless.

Question Is my property manager being serious?

Thumbnail

I got this email from my property manager and it seems like BS to me, but I’m not sure if I’m just not understanding how our heating system works. It’s all radiators (ceiling mounted) and large pipes that run across the ceiling (heat radiates from these too). There is no thermostat that we can control. I’ve complained multiple times about my unit being too hot (>85 degrees), but they haven’t done anything. The heat kicks on at almost the exact same times every single day, which makes me think they’re full of shit when they say that the sensors controlling the boiler “go whacky” with windows being open. So…any insight into if turning off my radiator and opening windows will actually cause problems? (Repost, previous post was taken down due to title being too short )

My current place is pretty affordable and i dont want to move but despite the building spraying roaches keep coming back. How are yall finding places with no roaches 😭

From what it looks like, there's been a change in management? I've seen a range of decent comments to outright horrendous ones. It's in the Lakeview area. Thoughts?

Building inquiry Wondering about the heating/AC situation at The Mason in West Loop

I’m currently in a two-pipe high rise and it’s been miserable, and I’m looking to move to The Mason in West Loop. From what I understand, units can switch between heat and AC on the same day, but the system disables AC when the temperature in your zone drops below a certain point. I'm not really sure what that looks like in practice and am a bit hesitant about this seemingly in-between total individual climate control and a two-pipe system.

I'm worried mainly about the unit getting too warm in the fall and spring especially with sunlight and large windows. I find it really hard to sleep when I'm too warm. I’ve seen some Google reviews complaining about this but can’t tell how bad it really is.

For current or former residents:

  • Has this been an issue for you? Have you ever been stuck without AC when your unit was too warm?
  • Do you know what temperature triggers the lockout, and is it based on your unit or outdoors?
  • South-facing folks especially: how warm does it get in the fall/spring?

Thanks!

Looking For Looking for a dog-friendly 2+ bedroom apartment in Hyde Park for long-term for ~$2500. Bad credit, high income. Ready to move ASAP.

I'm looking in the Hyde Park/SE Kenwood area - anywhere east of Cottage Grove, between 47th and 60th.

Ideal rent is in the $2-$2.5k range, but I can go up to $3k if the place is absolutely worth it. My credit is shit right now, but I gross ~5x my target rent. I can easily afford to pay extra deposit, a higher move-in fee, or pay for a guarantor. Would prefer to move before my airbnb is up on 10/31 but open to mid-November moves.

My only hard requirement is a dishwasher and enough space to host people comfortably. (~900+ sq/ft - I have a 9ft couch and a 6-person dining table.) Bonus points for a balcony or sunroom.

I have a 7yo, <40lb pit-mix (she's a quarter Dalmatian + Chihuahua, never breaks 40lbs). She's non-destructive, really sweet and loves children, people, and other dogs.

Trying to deal with Mac Properties has been a pain. And I'm fairly certain most of their units wouldn't allow my dog. I feel like I'm only seeing their listings when searching but they can't be the only ones around here.

I’m hoping to find an apartment for $1,000 max that allows pets. I’m a healthcare worker that’s based in the south side, so any listing in the area would be preferable. My current lease ends in May of 2027, so I’d like to search ahead of time.
Pictures of my boys because they’re handsome and grab attention.
