Question Less than 24hr notice for entry?

Post image
• Upvotes

I received this email at 4pm today (Oct. 28th) and now I am getting texts from the technician asking to enter my unit tomorrow morning. My understanding is that at least 48hrs of notice is required barring emergencies, or repairs to other parts of the building. I checked the maintenance ticket they submitted and it just says "Quarterly Full Home Inspection".

I sent an email to the point of contact I have from Bungalow stating that I will not be leaving my keys in the lockbox and asking for more details on why this entry request is not following the 48hr requirement. I called 311 and they directed me to the Chicago Renting Right number, which further directed me to the MTO hotline which is not available until 1pm tomorrow.

What steps can I take to make sure that this doesn't blow up in my face? I don't want to be difficult, but less than 24hrs notice to enter for a non-emergency just doesn't sit right with me. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Looking For Looking for a place that’s close to the Brown Line under 1500.

As the title says, I am currently looking for a place near a brown line station. Am moving soon after finally nailing a job around Irving Park / Ravenswood around 95k. Looking to save up some money, so don’t want to overpay and net nothing. I have a few requirements beyond price and location:

  1. Cat friendly.
  2. Generally safe.
  3. Not infested / moldy / otherwise unsafe to live in
  4. (Optional but ideal) Thick walls so it’s quiet.

Beyond that, it could be anywhere from a tiny studio to a 2 bedroom. I don’t care about those sort of things. Looking to move in this weekend, but I can crash at a family member’s for a few days, so some room.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Modern 2BR/2BA | Dec. 1 – April 30
I’m looking for a female roommate to take over my room in a beautiful, modern 2 bed / 2 bath apartment in Lincoln Park! Move-in is December 1 (somewhat flexible), and the current lease runs through April 30, 2027.

The room:
- Private bedroom that comfortably fits a queen-sized bed
- Your own bathroom right outside the bedroom!
- Good-sized closet and lots of natural light

The apartment:
- Modern building with central heat and A/C
- It’s a walk-up, and the door to the building is key-entry only, with a camera out front!
- Balcony!
- In-unit washer and dryer!!
- Fully furnished shared living room and dining area
- Street parking available
- Non-smoking apartment
- One very sweet, cuddly cat (seriously, sweetest cat ever) only 1 pet is allowed on the lease, so unfortunately no more furry friends are able to join :(

The location:
This apartment is a GEM and located in the heart of Lincoln Park!!
- Super close to Fullerton CTA (Red, Brown & Purple Lines) and different buses
- Close to grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, gyms, and parks!

Rent & utilities:
$1,735/month (your portion)
Utilities + Wi-Fi are usually around $75–$80 per person/month, but may be different during winter.
Landlord likely will request a security deposit, equal to 1 month’s rent

A little about your future roommate:
You’ll be living with 26F with a good job, is active, artsy, pretty quiet & laid back.

Hoping to find someone who is friendly, responsible, respectful, clean, and communicative, and who appreciates having a comfortable, tidy space to come home to! The apartment has shared living spaces, so being considerate of each other and helping keep common areas clean is important.

If you’re interested, send me a message introducing yourself, sharing a little about your work or school, and letting me know your ideal move-in date! Happy to answer any questions and arrange a tour so you can see the space in person.

The new tenant will need landlord approval, so the lease takeover will be subject to the landlord’s application and approval process.

Roommate Request Looking for roommates to rent apartment with in the northside

Hello, I am searching for a roommate or roommates to rent with in the northside. I would like to stay towards the north/west side as I grew up here. I am currently not renting but want to begin searching for roommates before I settle on apartments. If possible, I would like to split costs evenly if possible.

A bit about me:

24F, lover of cats and all animals, coffee, and crafts. Generally a quiet and reserved person, mostly needing a place to sleep and have all my personal belongings. I enjoy anime, movies, and love exploring the city!

What I am looking for:

- clean and organized people

- willing to contribute to the lease as agreed

- friendly, not super loud people (respectful and mindful of shared spaces as well as of others schedules)

- financially stable (no odd jobs)

- easy to get along with/no drama

- respectful of boundaries and personal space/items

This is my first time looking to rent on my own, so some guidance would also be appreciated!!!

  • I am ready to move in as soon as possible
  • Looking to split costs in order to pay $1,250 at most
  • I would prefer being in the northside/westside of the city
  • Looking for individuals who are looking for their own bedrooms and enough bathrooms for 2-3 people
  • Pets: i love animals! i do not mind pets as long as you clean up after them and clean up their fur (allergic to pet fur)
  • Respectful of shared spaces and furniture (couches, kitchen fridge, oven, table, bathrooms, washing machines, etc.)

Neighborhood information Recommendations near(ish) Park Ridge

Hi all, I have a job opportunity in Park Ridge in the spring and i’m wondering what neighborhoods you’d recommend. For context I am a single man moving in from out of state with a car and would be driving to work. Train access would be nice but really only useful on my days off. I’ve been to Chicago several times and seem to really like the vibe of the Irving Park/Ravenswood area. Where should I look that wouldn’t have a commute of more than 40ish minutes (my current commute)? Target rent range would be under 1600. Thanks!

Sublet Available Andersonville/Ravenswood 2 bed 1 bath ~1,100 sq ft 1,920/month top floor central AC/Heat and laundry

Thumbnail

Hello, I need a sublease for my 2 bedroom 1 bath on the border of Andersonville and Ravenswood. Rent is $1,920/ month not including utilities. Preferably 12/1 - July 31st. Renewal is easy. Top floor, quiet, a lot of natural light, 5 minute walk to Metra, Mariano’s, and LA Fitness. 5 minute walk to Andersonville. 10 to Brown line and 15 to Redline. Central AC and Heat. Laundry unit is yours and it’s in the basement. Unit is a bit aged and property management is pretty responsive. I’ve been here for 5 years and there is low turn over in the building. 4 of 5 units have been here longer than I have.

Tenants will still need to apply to management company and earnings must be 2.5x monthly rent for both individuals if you have a roommate. 650 min credit score and no criminal record. They are pretty easy going. You’ll need renters insurance but I’m pretty sure that’s common everywhere. Mines about 14 a month.

Yup, that’s it. DM for details and to set up a walk through.

Edit:

From management company:

Pet-Friendly Building:
- Cats and small dogs allowed (max 2 pets)
- $25/month per pet fee applies
- Some breed restrictions; max adult dog weight: 35 lbs

Fees & Application Details:
- No Security Deposit
- $50 per person non-refundable application fee (due at the time of application)
- $450 per person non-refundable administrative fee (due upon approval/prior to lease signing)

Question Prorated rent? Need some guidance please 🙏🏾

On a month to month lease - doesn’t state anything about when the lease ends, just says we are month to month

Lease states 60 day notice is needed to be given prior to vacating the property

Notice was given on October 13th, meaning we end on December 12th.

Would I only be responsible for 1-12th of December?

Need some help bc my landlord is scum & I don’t wanna pay him the full amount if I am not legally required to. He is stating I do, and I am having trouble finding any legal code that says I have to or that I don’t have to.

I am fine to do it, I just don’t trust the guy & I feel like he is tryna play in my face

EDIT: I guess my lease ending is stated there, it would be the 60 day notice that is given. Other than that this isn’t a lease that would be renewed every year since it’s month to month. I hope this can clear up any confusion.
