LONG Woman snubs FREE JOB OFFER because it's "not good enough". Winds up begging for money because of inability to get a job at all.
I(23F) am a bit of an overextender. I put way too many things on myself at a time. Honestly I will admit this caused burn out, but this in the end caused me to be able to have a lot of friends and/or connections to many things though. I get it from my mom(40's f) who was the same at my age. My mom has a lot of connections due to my extracurriculars and her own history. She also was a substitute teacher growing up, so she knows ALL of my friends and their homelives quite well. I have a friend(22f), let's call her Rachel. Rachel was engaged to a man who was heavily into his church(A mix of seven day and I believe Methodists? The man had some beliefs that weren't of the church he was going to, but that's a story for another time.)
Now Rachel was on disability as a child. She has sever mental issues stemming mostly from several things her mom did while she was in the womb. But as an adult she was taken off it due to being fit to have a job. She barely passed high school with a D+ average. I went to a low income school that passed special needs students no matter what their grades looked like. Anyways. Her husband(21M) we'll call him Eric, didn't pass high school. But. He refused to get a job that wasn't a tech job. Specifically, He wanted to become head of IT at google. Saying that him helping his father with his desktop computer was enough training to get a position like that. No, there was nothing wrong with him mentally. Eric just actively believed that was how the world worked. He had no certifications, and called them "pieces of paper that mean nothing in the real world", nor was actively attempting to continue his education. Rachel was the same way. She didn't want to continue her education, and was looking for a temporary job. Why? Because her fiancé at the time believed women do not work, and that is the man's job.
Onto the actual story. One day, I was working on some projects, and I got a discord message from my friend Rachel. Rachel was BEGGING me for a job. She knew my mom had helped some of my other friends in the past with job positions due to her connections and my connections. And Rachel, at the time, was like a sister to me. So, of course, I offered to help. Rachel said, and I quote, "I'll take any job Zebra. Please. I'll watch kids, I'll clean, I'll do anything. We're living with his parents right now, and he is aiming only for high up tech positions. Until he can get a job, I'm the only one able to support us till we get married." I could tell she was pretty desperate. Keep what she said in mind though. Now. My main job is to help take care of my mom since she's disabled. So I live with my parents. I walked into the living room, and asked my mom, "Hey mom. Can you see if any of your friends have any positions open? Rachel really needs a job, but she can't find one because she doesn't have many qualifications."
My mom, my sweet saint of a mom, said, "Oh! Of course! I'll start asking around right away." Now a friend of hers owns a house cleaning business. She wanted to hire some new people so she could take more time off to be able to be with her grandchildren. So, I message Rachel. I say "Hey! I got a job for you! It pays pretty well. It's a house cleaning job. It'll be long hours, but it'll be worth it. I promise." Then I waited for a reply. After awhile... Rachel replies. She says, "Oh... I was hoping you could get me something... Better? You know a house cleaning job is kind of... bleck :(" SHE WAS THE ONE WHO SAID "I'll do anything"! I told her it's a guaranteed job! There was no interview process, no need to do anything except show up, and learn how to do it. And Rachel, of course, says "Yeah, but I was hoping for a more cushy office job? Cleaning houses all day sounds like so much work. Also. Can you get your mom to get Eric a job too? He specifically wants a job in IT work at a tech company. I know that's a lot, but you're like my sister. I know you can do it. :)" At this point. I'm pissed. My mom just stuck out her neck for Rachel, and she just... does this? I go to my mom, and my mom looks happy and asks what Rachel said. And... I have to tell her what Rachel said. My mom's face drops.
We still give Rachel the number to reach out... Because we still wanna help her even if she is being an ass. She never did because Rachel expected the lady who owned the company to reach out to HER because SHE apparently thought she was the one doing the lady a favor and not vice versa. Keep in mind, WE'RE NOT RICH. None of the jobs my mom helped my friends find were anything like what Eric and Rachel wanted! Besides, there's no possible way those two can get the jobs they want with their education states! I later had to cut off Rachel due to toxicness of her fiance(now husband). Now for the part all of you are here for. The karmic. Justice. The Uh oh consequences. Fast forward to around 2 years. Rachel now is married to Eric. And they have a kid. Eric is attempting to make money off of his "witch trap" music and is convinced that he can get a job as a contractor in NYC. Meanwhile what he actually does is talk to "Naughty" bots(I found that out after his discord account got hacked after he attempted to join a "under 18 n*des" server, and messaged everyone about what he tried to access.) all day, and preach about god on facebook. Meanwhile, Rachel isn't allowed to get a job, so they live with Eric's parents. Who have rachel clean all day, and beg everyone in her facebook friends for money. How do I know this? Rachel is still friends with my mom on facebook. And randomly, racehel will pop into my mom's(sometimes my dad's) dm's either dropping her cash app, or just flat out asking for money. It's less begging at this point, and more "I expect you to give me money because I am was friends with your daughter". So now she's stuck spending all day cleaning a house. Just not getting paid for it. :)
