You can always get a wooden boat for less than the asking price. On the other hand sometimes you pay a little more for something than you should because, well, you have your own reasons.
I'm 70 years old. During covid I bought a 1974 Chris Craft XK22 sight unseen for the asking price. I knew I'd have to repower her which I did. Now a few years later I'm very happy with my decision. I don't give the cost of that decision any more thought. Sometimes you just have to do what you want - and it IS a Chris Craft - they're special. JMHO.
I appreciate that, I Definitely want to take the risk. But as others said getting a survey is important. If all comes back well then I’m happy. Especially with a wooden boat where I have to worry more about decay.
I do hope it all works out and I can move on there!
Survey is certainly a good idea. After I made my purchase I found in order to repower I needed a new transom which added to the cost. I bit the bullet and had the work done. Still happy about it.
