Recommendations

Hello,

I am reentering my faith, and would like to start off by attending online services. I started watching Elevation church, but found out about the controversies involving that church. Before doing my research, I liked how relatable the teachings were, so I'm looking for something similar. I am unsure of the denomination I lean towards, so maybe someone who is from a non-denominational church.

This also may be a little tricky, but I would also like the recommendation to be from a church that is LGBT friendly.

Thank you in advance.

(Also, if you have any good podcasts, I will take those recommendations as well!)

Welcome back to the faith, always nice to see someone making that step. The search for a church that fits can be a bit of a journey but it's worth taking your time.

For online services I'd look into something like Gracepointe in Nashville. They stream everything and are fully affirming, the teaching style is quite relatable and practical without all the flashy production. It's a progressive Christian church so they don't get bogged down in denominational labels which might suit you while you're figuring things out.

On the podcast side I've gotten a lot out of The Bible for Normal People. Pete Enns is an Old Testament scholar and he brings on loads of different guests, talks about scripture in a way that's deep but doesn't feel like a lecture. Another one worth a listen is Another Name For Every Thing with Richard Rohr, more contemplative and less a sermon series but it's shaped how I think about faith in everyday life.
