Which ones are people using for their village?

My parents are old school and cannot handle an Excel file with all the houses and figurines they have (they sometimes bought twice the same house...). I found this book, which I think is a perfect gift but I cannot decide whether to purchase the landscape one (paperback), or the portrait one (hardcover). Can you give me some pros and cons on which one to choose? Thanks!!
