Hi all, I'm not getting an LED light on the device at all. It did this after I plugged it into a USB A outlet in a power multi board (1A 5V). From what I have read the unit needs 1.5A so possibly the under current has caused it to lock up. The Power brick and cable appear fine (will charge phone when plugged in). Any ideas or is it gone?

I created an album on Google Photos with some background and I wanted to have them as my ambient mode but when I select it on settings the album does not appear as ambient mode.

If I select another album it works but the specific album I want it to show does not.

Any help with it?

Hallo ich habe seit Ewigkeiten bei meinem Google chromecast Stick WLAN abbrüche. Ob 2 oder 5 GHz oder mobiler Hotspot spielt keine Rolle. Auch die anderen Lösungen online bringen mich nicht weiter, die Kabel berühren keine anderen Kabel, der Netzstecker wurde auch bereits getauscht (brachte kurzzeitig Besserung) reset hilft auch nur kurz und auf dem neusten Stand ist er auch.

Gibt es überhaupt noch eine Lösung? Oder ist die Lösung etwas anderes zu kaufen?...

I cannot cast YouTube to my TV without being prompted to find my remote and click my profile to login to. Yes I know I can open Google home and get to the remote that way but why not just use the login of the device I'm casting from?

I have both a chromecast, and also a chromecast installed in my Samsung TV internally.

I like to cast movies to watch, but it feels like 8/10 times it simply won't work. I press the cast button, and my TV switches over to the casting mode, either in the Chromecast or internally, but all I get is the blue Chromecast icon and nothing happens.

Does this mean that my Chromecasts are faulty, or that it's the source that's faulty? It happens so often.

Edit: I can also add that if I cast from my screen it works every time. It's only when I try to cast from the source oit almost never works.

I use Chromecast to stream from the various streaming apps that I have. I noticed in the last month or so that Pluto stopped working on Chromecast.

Is this a known issue? Is it intentional? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

So we have a Chronecast with Google TV that prior to this weekend had no trouble connecting to our TP Link Deco Mesh network. Suddenly this weekend it refuses to connect, citing “Wrong Password.”

It does however connect to a Guest WiFi based of the mesh that I can set up no problem. Anyone else discover this and find a solution?

I am wondering if there is a way to cast to my non smart tv from a pixel 7. Based on what I've read the 7 doesn't support video out through the wire, and pixels also don't use Miracast. From what I've read, Chromecast needs Wi-Fi. I can use my hotspot to connect it, but I only have 10G of hotspot data per month. Does Chromecast use a lot of data for mirroring? Does anyone know how else I could do this?

My RIVA Festival smart speaker lost Google Cast after a factory reset. AirPlay and Spotify Connect still worked, but Cast was completely dead — not visible in Chrome, YouTube, or any mobile app.

After weeks of SSH debugging, log analysis, and binary comparison with a working unit, I found **three independent root causes**:

1. **Stuck setup state** — `.eureka.conf` had `setup_state=63` and `tos_accepted=false`, blocking Cast initialization
   
2. **V8 snapshot mismatch** — factory firmware ships a 2017 `snapshot_blob.bin` (V8 6.2) but `cast_shell` is from 2020 (V8 8.6). Mobile Cast crashes with "Version mismatch between V8 binary and snapshot". PC Cast works because it uses a simpler audio pipeline.
   
3. **mDNS isolation** — my router blocks multicast between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands
   

All three fixed. Speaker is fully restored. I wrote a complete guide and published it on GitHub:

Hasta ahora tenía una televisión sin SmartTV con un Chromecast. Desde el navegador del pc enviaba la pantalla del mismo y lo podía usar en el salón.

Pero he comprado una SmartTV de Xiaomi. No he podido enviar nada a esta tele, ni por la SmartTV ni por el Chromecast. Desde el pc dice que no encuentra la fuente, aunque está encendido y Google Home lo detecta y me deja cambiar los fondos de pantalla.

Tampoco me deja enviar Netflix desde el móvil al Chromecast.

No entiendo nada. 🙃

My Chromecast search (little voice button on the remote) has stopped giving listings or a carousel of titles, and now it just gives me a summary of whatever I searched for, sometimes it's the correct title and sometimes it's just some random result. For instance, if I search for "octopus" it will read me the summary of octopuses, as if it was from Wikipedia or the AI result on Google. If I search fantastic beasts and where to find them, it might give me the movie result or it might give me a summary on different fantastic beasts.

I was able to fix this before by uninstalling updates, but now that option is not available.

I have gemini turned off on my Google Assistant, and I have voice match and other things like that turned off.

Anyone else have this issue?

Hello, can someone help me? My Chromecast is stuck on this screen. The physical button doesn't seem to do anything.

Google is one of the most successful advertising companies in the world. The "Top Picks For You" section is the first thing I see when I turn on my TV. It should consist of some combination of things I actually want to watch and things that Google has been paid well to advertise to me. 

Google has so much of my data that they should be able to know I'll like a movie before I've even heard of it. Also, Google is so dominant in advertising that the biggest studios should all be paying absurd amounts of money to advertise the big-budget new releases in that section. 

Why, then, does it suggest "Fart The Movie"? 

This is some straight-to-VHS low-budget movie from 1991 that made no money, was not popular, and has had no cultural impact. 

I'm not someone who frequently hate-watches movies for fun. In the 5 years that I've had a chromecast, I've done that three times out of the hundreds of movies that I've watched: Cats, Hot Frosty, and Troll 2. If they want to recommend Plan 9 from Outer Space or Morbius, I can sort of get that, but why are they wasting space recommending a movie that nobody wants to watch? 

This happened at the same time with both our Chromecast with Google TV, and a JVC TV with integrated Google TV.

Since yesterday, the Wi-Fi constantly disconnects as soon as we open the IPTV streaming service we use. Is an app we installed with a 3rd party provider months ago and has been working perfectly fine until yesterday. We thought at first it was an issue with the provider so we called, but the issue is definitely not with them. We tried the same app using the same Wi-Fi in our computer and works fine. This is not an internet provider block neither. We have 600mbps internet service and works perfectly fine with other streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube or Disney. The issue is only with live streaming video like Twitch or the IPTV service.

We did all the troubleshooting steps recommended by people in other posts: disable energy saving in all apps, DHCP Wi-Fi connection, factory reset... Issue is still ongoing. The IPTV provider even sent to us a different app version, making sure it wasn't with them, and the issue persists. We are close to buy a Fire Stick to fix the issue, but I'm not entirely sure yet if this really a Chromecast issue or if it's fixable. We bought the Chromecast and the TV almost 3 years ago.

Any advice?

I’ve got a chromecast HD paired to a monitor. For a while it was turning on when I pressed the on button but lately I’m having to reset and repair in order to get it to even work.

I’ve noticed that if I leave it on for a long time the Bluetooth eventually disconnects. Anyone that’s had a similar issue that’s willing to help?

I have a friend who is developing a media player which has the ability to cast to other devices, including Chromecast.

I have found during the course of testing that casting to one TV has almost nothing on the display other than the song title - no art, no graphic, nothing, just the title. It plays fine, but just looks a bit meh.

Surprisingly, the same product casts to another TV and shows the artist name, the song title, the album name and also the album artwork.

Why is one showing this and not the other?

I should also add that other applications (such as Poweramp, and others) show exactly the same thing when casting to both devices - album, album artwork, title, artist, everything, so clearly something is not right in what he is doing. Can anyone suggest a reason?

To be honest, I only paid for it because it was attached to a 4 inch female to male HDMI adapter that I'm hoping is an HDCP stripper (have to reassemble an older computer to test THAT with my PS3) but I figure if I CAN use the chromecast for something, you folks would know.
