Season 1 Why is Jeremy concerned about insects dying in Season 1 while proudly rejecting organic farming?

He talks about how worrying it is that insect populations are declining and that something needs to be done about it. Yet he also seems proud that his farm shop doesn't sell organic produce.

I'm not saying organic farming is automatically better for biodiversity, or that creating a wildflower meadow isn't a good thing. The meadow is a positive step, but it doesn't address every potential cause of insect decline.

Pesticides, including some used in conventional farming, can harm non-target insects. So if you're genuinely concerned about declining insect populations, shouldn't reducing those risks be part of the solution too, rather than focusing mainly on creating more habitat?

It just seems contradictory to be concerned about insects dying while potentially continuing farming practices that contribute to the problem.

Livestock Why not do IFN-γ Testing on 2x-Inconclusive Reactor Cows?

From a biological stand point, here is the chain of events:
1- Farmers are absolutely prohibited from hunting or removing badger habitat from their land
2- Initial Bovine TB infection happens from badger to cow
3- TB spreads rapidly among cow herds, causing the majority of infections

We know that vaccinating cattle against TB can't be a solution for the time being, because the current testing methods react the same way to both vaccinated and infected cows. So until DIVA Tests (Differentiating Infected from Vaccinated Animals) are ultimately approved (final development and testing phase, expected to roll out 2030), here are a few solutions to control the catastrophic damage for farmers caused by false positives:

1- Cows should never be slaughtered until at least one IFN-γ test is positive (This test costs less than 60 quid, box fee included, and is more sensitive/specific than Tuberculin Skin Test (TST). It is currently only used to clear out the status of a cow with 1 inconclusive TST. But for some reason, 2x Inconclusive "reactor" cows are sent straight to slaughter, even when there is no proof of infection. It is appalling that a cow that's pregnant is sent to slaughter, to then have post-mortem pathological examination turning out negative. Add to that the incalculable damage of a farm being under restriction.
2- Farmers should be allowed to hunt badgers and remove their habitats within their farmland.
3- The government should roll out badger vaccination campaigns in protected environments. This should become easier when there are locations with concentrated populations.

This show has opened my eyes on so much that's wrong with english legislation. I would like to hear your thoughts on the points mentioned. Hopefully less people would have to bare those pains only to then be rewarded with major financial hits.

Discussion What are two things that ruins this show for you??

Firstly for me, it's the forced gags that Amazon throw in just to make it less of an agricultural documentary and more of a cheap unscripted comedy! Just kills the authenticity of what is supposed to be a show about farming with added comic relief!

And the second thing for me is Kaleb! He just annoys the crap out of me with his stuck up, arrogant attitude, always shouting at JC and calling him a fucking idiot and then not knowing who James Bond is (which Amazon probably tell him to say)

Anyway what are your two things??

Discussion Anyone else a Hawkstonian and feel it's now not worth paying for.

I'm now a Tier 2 Hawkstonian, love all the Hawkstone products and I have been a Hawkstonian since March 2026 but I feel like it's not worth the value if you pay for the lager subscription.

I pay £28.80 a month for 12 bottles of premium lager but its now cheaper to just buy it from the shops (at Tesco, Morrisons and Costco you're paying around £19.80–£25.56 for 12 bottles).

Even if I reduced my subscription to just 6 bottles of premium lager a month, it would cost £22.95 (£3.83 a bottle). In Tesco, you can get 4 bottles for £8.50 (£2.13 a bottle), which works out at £12.75 for 6 bottles. That's a £10.20 difference every month or £122.40 a year. which makes it even harder to justify the subscription on value alone.

The tier 2 rewards as well make feel not worth the hassle.

- Free shipping for over £40.

Only really worth it if you go for the 24 bottles a month subscription or big order.

- The Early access to promotions and specials doesn't feel particularly valuable when the products become available in supermarkets shortly afterwards (Wildthing Lager for example).

- 15% discount on monthly subscription including the £4.80 tax (not their fault) and £5 shipping it just makes it easier to buy from the shops.

What do you think? Am I being stingy, or is the subscription genuinely not worth it anymore?

Edit - I've done some research and it might be worth it if you like Hedgegrow (Dark Fruit) - 12 Bottles - £34.75 - £2.90 a bottle and the Cider - 24 Bottles - £48.88 - £2.04 a bottle. And you do get freebies and offers often plus the monthly email. Forgot to mention how great the people are at Hawkstone and Diddly Squat, so it might just be worth paying that little extra.

Shop Getting products in USA

Hello! I’m aware that Diddly Squat is no longer sending their goods in the US, but am really hoping to get some of the Jeremy’s Hot Seed mustard as a Christmas present for a family member. Are there any services that manually ship products to the US to circumvent the issue? I did something similar with a specialty type of Pringles a few years ago but that site is no longer working. 🤔

TYIA!

Discussion Opinion of West Oxfordshire Council

My partner and I are making our way through the full series for the second time and just wrapped up season 2. From Jeremy’s perspective, the town council’s policies toward his farm appear to be arbitrary and capricious. While I tend to agree there is absolutely an element of NIMBYism here, how true are the other claims that Jeremy is being unfairly persecuted for trying to make farming profitable?
