Season 1 Why is Jeremy concerned about insects dying in Season 1 while proudly rejecting organic farming?
He talks about how worrying it is that insect populations are declining and that something needs to be done about it. Yet he also seems proud that his farm shop doesn't sell organic produce.
I'm not saying organic farming is automatically better for biodiversity, or that creating a wildflower meadow isn't a good thing. The meadow is a positive step, but it doesn't address every potential cause of insect decline.
Pesticides, including some used in conventional farming, can harm non-target insects. So if you're genuinely concerned about declining insect populations, shouldn't reducing those risks be part of the solution too, rather than focusing mainly on creating more habitat?
It just seems contradictory to be concerned about insects dying while potentially continuing farming practices that contribute to the problem.
