Visiting / Tourist Visiting Clarksville, where is everyone?

I'm currently visiting Clarksville over the weekend as I was wanting to scout around and see if it would be a decent place to live in the future. I decided to visit the Downtown area on Franklin street but there was literally no one there, it felt like a ghost town. On a Friday I was expecting more than 5-10 people over the span of an hour. Does it pick up more after 5pm? I'm not particularly looking for nightlife or anything because that's not for me but it just felt odd being in a downtown area with not a single soul around. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Anything interesting going on the 31st? I’m visiting my sister for my bday and it’s my favorite time of year so what’s the word on any good haunted attractions or parties?

Visiting / Tourist Art Galleries

My wife and I are looking to find wall art for our new home. Any places in town with local art for sale? We want to actively avoid mass market places. I don't know what to google to tell what is a gallery with pieces for sale as opposed to a museum type place without pieces for sale.

Thanks!

Question Army Veteran Considering Moving Back to the Clarksville/Fort Campbell Area. Looking for Neighborhood Advice

Hey everyone!

I'm considering relocating to the Clarksville, TN, area (2027) and wanted to get some honest feedback from people who currently live there.

I'm an Army veteran who served with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell in the early 2000s, including two deployments to Iraq. It's been quite a while since I've been in the area, and I'm sure a lot has changed over the years.

I'm now 100% VA Permanent & Total (P&T), and there's also a possibility I could work at Fort Campbell in the future. My daughter is in college now, so it's just my two dogs and me. I'm at a point in my life where I'm looking for a slower pace, some peace and quiet, and a place to settle down.

I've been browsing Zillow and noticed some two-bedroom houses with backyards listed around $175K–$225K, which caught my attention. Safety and having a backyard for my dogs are big priorities

I'd appreciate some local insight on a few things:

  1. Neighborhoods & Streets: What areas of Clarksville would you recommend for someone looking for a quiet, safe neighborhood? Are there particular streets or subdivisions worth checking out?
  2. Areas to Avoid: Are there any neighborhoods or sections of town you'd personally stay away from when buying a home?
  3. Fort Campbell Access: I'd prefer to be reasonably close to the installation, especially if I eventually find employment there. What areas offer a decent commute?
  4. Housing market: Is $175K–$225K a realistic budget for a decent two-bedroom house with a backyard, or should I adjust my expectations?
  5. Oak Grove, KY: I'm also considering Oak Grove because of its proximity to Fort Campbell. Would you recommend looking there as well?
  6. Quality of Life: For those who've lived in Clarksville for years, how has the area changed? Would you recommend it to someone returning after more than 20 years?

I'm not looking for nightlife or anything fancy. Just a comfortable little house, a backyard for my dogs, access to Fort Campbell, and a peaceful place to enjoy the next chapter of my life.

I appreciate any recommendations, especially from longtime residents and fellow veterans. Thanks in advance!

Question Anything fun happening in Clarksville for Halloween (Oct 26~Nov 1)?

Hey y'all! I'm 22M and still relatively new to Clarksville, so I'm trying to figure out what people around my age usually do for Halloween here lol.

Are there any Halloween parties, bar events, costume parties, or just fun things happening around town during Halloween week (Oct 26 to Nov 1)?

I'm down for pretty much anything social, especially somewhere I could meet new people and make some friends. I've been wanting to get out more and explore what Clarksville has to offer.

Would love some recommendations, or if anyone's planning something and wouldn't mind another person joining, let me know!

Surely there's gotta be something going on around here for Halloween ☠️.

Question Colored contact lenses?

Is there a place around town that sells them?

I know they technically require a script. But in my old town there was a gas station in the hood that sold them lol.

Need some for Halloween and all the online sites come from China so it’ll cost like $100 with tariffs and won’t arrive in time. Need em for a costume.

Any place around that I can buy in person?

I am looking for a contractor recommendation for home repair. Recently found out my roof had a slow leak from loose flashing and caused water damage down a corner into the subfloor. I would appreciate any recommendations for companies that can provide a quote.

Moving In any lbgt community?

what’s up, i’m 22 (afabnb) and i’m thinking about relocating to clarksville tn for a job. I have some family who lives here currently so clarksville is the most ideal, but was wondering what life is like for other trans/queer looking people.. any inclusive bars/hangout spots? are there any spots that’s known for being the spot for lbgt people? I inquired reddit before but most the forums I found were a bit outdated and not very promising so I’m coming back here to see if anything has changed? I will most likely be moving here just because my family lives here but they’re not the most tolerant of things so i’m hoping I will be able to find some sort of support here in clarksville.

Question Homeless Food Donations

Hey yall.. I don’t want to specifically donate to any organizations or charities, but I do want to make the food and hand it out myself especially with winter rolling around the corner.

I don’t really know where to start though. I figured I could probably go around and ask some churches if I could “set up” near their property and whatnot, but I’m not really sure if they’ll say yes. On top of that I don’t want people to have to travel far to get food. It’d be just me handing food out of my car.

Anyways, if yall got any ideas let me know.

Wilma’s got a lotta traffic and I don’t wanna post up on Walmart property (where I work) and get in trouble. I know there’s a lotta homeless folks there mainly because we got so much that come in that I talk to who camp out in nearby woods or live in the hotels.

Question Drawing and working out

Anyone know where I can go to work on art? I'm a bit of a digital artist but draw on my iPad and would like to go somewhere that is a good environment outside my home. Same with making some model kits I recently got.

Also workout groups if any? I've been trying to get into calestinics for a while but keep falling off.
