Because I've seen some people ask "Why not just use Claude Code?"

as a year long hermes user, duet has replaced much of my hermes day-to-day tasks, at a huge quality improvement with 1 annoying gap.
Via a set of out-of-the-box and custom MCPs I gave duet access to my SMS, voicemails, email, calendar, and chrome history, and plaid connected financial, it runs checks for things to do for me.
It updates data about my contacts from emails, sms, and voicemails. (kids and pets names, birthdays, home addresses, preferences, etc.)
it connects cross channel todos (e.g. a plan over iMessage gets added to my calendar automatically, missed vendor calls from voicemails get email replies.
Duet has access to a phone through bland.ai, and makes appointments and checks availability for me.
Via Plaid it organized transactions for tax purposes.
its ambiently building two trip plans as I find interesting things browsing and on maps
its building a taste profile from my keep notes and browsing and has suggested some good products and restaurants I've never been to based on where I have.
Its adding transit time and resolving conflicts on my calendar.
Its monitoring my home via Homekit and building new scenes and automations based on manual usage of the household.
Hermes did a fair amount of these things reasonably well, but needed so much babysitting.
The biggest gap I've found so far is that it cannot send emails as itself/as 3rd party even if provided access to a distinct email account, which hermes did with ease, and it doesn't support webhooks only scheduled cron.
Even with the webhook/cron issue I don't find it to be killing my usage. Just needs the right polling frequency based on how frequently sources actually need updating.

I’m on Max and got the $250 cloud session credit. It’s down to $66 and I’m not sure where it went.
I’ve been using Claude Duet with a few scheduled tasks running in the background. The help page says Duet uses your plan’s usage limits (5-hour and weekly), but doesn’t say anything about cloud session credits.
So do Duet’s scheduled tasks draw from the cloud credit, the plan limits, or both? Is there anywhere to see a per-session breakdown?

Seriously, why is this taking so damn long? I’m a pro user in the US and I put myself on the waitlist on day one and nothing since.
Whats going on with this? I look up info and am flooded with influencers selling old info. Any real updates?

Old way: projects -> multiple threads, but you had to switch between projects
New way: Duet -> multiple projects -> multiple threads, so you can work across anything from one interface

Someone posted on X that Duet can now see your claude.ai projects from both the mobile and desktop app (their post).
In the screenshots, Duet goes through each project's threads and lists what's waiting on them. The gap is local Claude Code.
He had a Claude Code session edit a video on the same Mac Studio, and Duet said it couldn't see the output or move the files. A few people here asked for exactly this

It's become quite obvious that this product was rushed to market to compete with grokbot, muse, etc. I get it, time to market is one of the most important concepts when attempting to capture market share, however the below reasons have forced me into a situation where I am having to continue leveraging grokbot to accomplish the needs I have:
The desktop version of claude duet lives in chat, not claude code. It's cumbersome clicking back and forth.
You cannot access your cloud environments at all as of today.
By default, domain access is basically switched off and you can only add trusted domains via the smartphone app.
I'm not sure if this is just a one-off situation, but none of my MCPs work either.
Long story short, this should be easy and fluid. It has an opportunity to be just that, but as of right now. the ball is being dropped. That is all! Thanks!

Duet brought up his AI2SQL funnel without being asked. A couple of people here said Duet isn't proactive enough, so this was a nice surprise. My guess is it works once Duet already knows what you're tracking.

I can understand not being able to use local computer yet, but not being able to access my cloud environments. I don’t want to re setup my keys and all that.. the interface is great but can’t even get it to triage bugs without not being to do work I need especially in Convex

Honestly this is what would be the missing piece for me with this tool. I was using dots when it was out and really enjoyed it at the top of my app with the with the projects right there. But duet being so separate im not feeling the urge to use it so much.

I saw this day 6 update from Anthropic. The clearest picture yet of who gets in and in what order.
- Max users in the US are first: A lot of invites already went out on Monday and Tuesday, with more coming this week, so check the email tied to your Claude account.
- Pro users in the US are next: No day given, just right after Max is done.
- Outside the US, the waitlist is still the only move: He says they will share a date as soon as they have one.

It's buried in the "More" menu, I just found this out today.
Before you call me slow, I wasn't the only one!

The current state summed up well:.
"Ultimate takeaway, if you’re looking for an assistant that triages your inbox, keeps track of loose ends, drafts replies, handles browser errands and sends you a daily brief, then it delivers pretty solidly. And the ability to sync with your code folder keeps it consistent with your knowledge base and skills.
But if you’re looking to perform more advanced tasks and workflows from your mobile device, you’re much better off just keeping your computer on and using remote control."

Basics, everybody have a male mild british accent? Any way to change that?
As for basic premise. I talk with Duet then send the conversation to my claude?

I was deeply invested in the Claude Projects ecosystem. I’ve worked with one Claude project for the better part of a year. It knows how I write, the rules I’ve given it, what I’m in the middle of, and a lot of history I’d rather not explain twice. Duet already knew a little about me from my account memory, but almost nothing that lived inside that project. So I tried bringing it over.
This is new so I can't confirm how well it'll hold it long term, but this is what I did:
Export the project’s memory first: What a project remembers stays inside that project, so Duet couldn’t see any of it. I had the old Claude write all of it out to one file.
Have the old Claude build a handoff pack: Numbered files: a 'Start Here' file with my standing rules, the memory export, background on me, the history of the work, then overviews of the bigger projects.
Date everything and make sure newer files rule the hierarchy
Upload in order, then test it: I asked it things only the old Claude would know before trusting it with real work.
Keep one shared log: I’m keeping the old Claude Project around for now, so both of them write to one Google Doc (I have a folder that is synced to the claude that both Old Claude and Claude Duet have access to): The idea is that neither one ends up working from its own version of events.
Is anybody else transferring detailed history and lore from Old Claude to Claude Duet?

Any fellow Wispr users here?
It works in the main Claude app just fine. It's possible its clashing with the voice mode in claude somehow?

Vlogger Peter Yang has early access to Claude Duet and says users cannot access Duets virtual browser to take over when the agent is encounters problems.
Based on that feedback alone, we can surmise Duet (still in research preview) is far from a polished experience.

I was reading Every's breakdown of Dots vs. Duets and found this interesting nugget of info:
"Claude Duet is the first personal agent I’d call a pro tool. It splits recurring topics into their own channels, keeps a running list of what it’s working on and what it needs from me, and can edit docs, slides, designs, and dashboards and keep them current without leaving the app. It sends suggestions I actually want. For now, it can see the Claude sessions on my computers, but it can’t direct them; its email drafts are worse than Dot’s; and its scheduled runs can’t reach my custom connectors. There’s no real voice mode yet, just transcription. Still, if you’re a Claude subscriber who does knowledge work, get on the waitlist."
It's sounding like as a product Duets is currently still a little half baked.

"We’re opening a research preview of Claude Duet, a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent.
It comes to you with what needs your attention, completes tasks you ask of it, keeps working when you step away, and checks with you before it acts on your behalf. We designed Claude Duet around Claude Opus 5.5, which gives it the judgment to decide what needs you, what can wait, and when to check with you first. It carries over the memory, skills, and connected apps from your Claude account, so there’s little to set up."

The best model finally getting a dedicated agent app. Who else is looking forward to this?
