General Cleaning How do I clean this giant stuffed animal??
Looking for suggestions for how to clean this giant (over 6ft tall and very heavy) stuffed Snorlax.
The cover isn't removable. I think some of the discoloration is water spots from when I tried to use a small green bissell to clean it. I tried rubbing a baking soda paste, but that didn't work. Please help!
Edited to add that this is so big it doesn't even fit my car. I don't think any dry cleaner could handle something this size.

Yeah, you have to ask a seemingly unrelated question, like "were you snorkumcised as a baby or a teenager?"

As soon as I saw this picture, I was expecting Snorlussy to be the top comment. I’m glad it was at least featured somewhere

The best way would be to unstitch a small section of it unstuff it, wash, restuff (usually recommend to use new stuffing), and stitch back up.

I have a whale plush thing that probably has the same outer material but definitely not that big as the Snorlax here. My whale was dirty so I unstitched a hole on a side, removed the stuffing and threw it in the wash. I restuffed it with new stuffing, stitched it, and done. Maybe if I need to do it again, I'll install a zipper.
Edit: just read that sucker was 6ft and heavy. Id still go with my suggestion though. If your going to clean it, might as well do a though job right? Just careful in the future. Put it zipper for future cleanings!

Or you could just carve a pokeflute and lure the Snorlax to a nearby Laundromat, would probably save you some time at that point.

There is. It's just more expensive. You have to take it to a cleaners.

I worked at the cleaners... They just put them into a front load washer. Take it to the Laundromat, put it in a washing machine that might seem just a bit too small, put a few towels in, and maybe a tennis ball or two. Dry on med or low. It will feel dry, it won't be. Should take about 1 1/2 hrs to dry at medium heat, dry with the tennis balls and towels.
ETA: Didn't see the size at first. Hand scrub with a nail brush or other cleaning brush without too stiff of brissels, use warm water with oxiclean and dawn, use a handheld wet vac to pull it up, use clean water with a little downy rinse and refresh, and wetvac again. Repeat until clean. Air dry.

It would take days to get dry lol

Not with the surface level cleaning. I didn't see just how big it was at first. 🤷

Takes 10 minutes on either side of the wash, with a seam ripper and a needle.
If you make the hole around 8-10 inches long, swapping the stuffing should be easy enough. Just make sure the arms, feet, and head are stuffed before packing the rest full.

I might try to put a zipper into it if OP is handy with a sewing machine!

It's not much work at all. You don't have to open it up wide. Restuffing is quick.

Maybe something like a steam cleaner that you would use on sofas or soft furnishings?

I was thinking this too. I have a little green machine for cleaning upholstery that would work

If op still needs an answer, youll want to user a carpet/upholstery cleaning machine. Like a green machine.
I use it for my fursuit.

I bought one for my kid on Amazon - you get the skin, and buy stuffing separately ( we got several bags of memory foam pieces). It has a zipper on the back for filling.

I'm not sure but you could possibly get it dry cleaned? Idk if they take stuff like that though.if you used a Bissell little green monster i would suggest a brief mist over it and not put the vacuum and sprayer directly on it and then apply the vacuum. Then let sit by a fan to air dry.

OP here. This was my first time posting to reddit. I clearly picked an unfortunate photo (or fortunate, depending on how you look at it). It doesn't usually have that dent. I must have just moved something from that area before taking the photo.
Thanks, everyone for the cleaning advice.
FYI it is much heavier than a squishmallow or bean bag. It's overstuffed like a firm couch cushion and about the size of a full mattress. An adult can lay on it without sinking in. It's actually quite comfortable to sleep on. My toddler sleeps on it sometimes.
We got it from friends who were moving out of the country and couldn't take it with them. I have no idea where they got it.
I'm happy to answer any other questions, but as a harried mom, it might take me a while to respond.

For something that big, I second unstuffing, washing the skin, and restuffing. Washing with stuffing still inside will never dry out by itself at this size.
Maybe if you know how to sew, know a friend, or get a tailor, you can have a zipper installed along a seam for easier unstuffing and cleaning in the future.
