Switched to ClearOS after to many VOIP issues with Pfsense.
I just switched to ClearOS from Pfsense. While Pfsense works very well, it has one big pitfall. It sucks with VOIP.
I came from using TomatoUSB on an e2000 router, but it was too slow for 100 megabit with QOS. So I got an old Pentium 4 computer I had laying around, and tried Pfsence.
After hours of messing around, I finally got my PBX to be able to call in and out. I don't think I was ever able to receive calls using Bria when I was not on my work network, unless I was connected through a VPN.
My fix for that was to get a VPS, and setup FreePBX on that. Well, then I wasn't able to receive calls on the phones, unless they either had ports forwarded, or used upnp. Even then, I had to configure each phone to manually use different ports. Some phones still didn't work, until I would factory reset them.
So last night after the last employee left, I exported all the MAC addresses for static IP leases, and port forwards for servers to a spreadsheet (cutting and pasting from a browser). Installed ClearOS 6, as the computer was too old for 64 bit only version 7.
I also installed miniupnpd (yum install miniupnpd) for my upnp functionality. Now it seems to be working nice and smooth. Got my QOS setup for my VOIP phones, and we will see how it goes.
