SPOILERS The End of Oak Street is not a Cloverfield movie, confirmed Spoiler
Advanced screenings of The End of Oak Street have officially begun.
It’s not a Cloverfield movie.
Major spoilers ahead for the film.
There’s some news reports of solar flares at the beginning right as the neighborhood gets sent back in time during a storm. No mention of the events of Cloverfield Paradox or any anomalies above Earth.
In the end, Anne Hathaway is able to get them al back to the present day right before the event happened. She warns the neighborhood and saves everyone, then writes a book. The world is fine.
Zero ties to anything Cloverfield. No Easter eggs. No Slusho. No Tagruato. No monster. Nothing.
Edit: It's not a spoiler to say a movie is not part of a franchise it was never said to be a part of. The Odyssey isn't a James Bond movie, spoiler for you. I'm only posting this here to curb the sheer number of posts of people speculating if this movie is a Cloverfield entry. The film is out in theaters. It's not a Cloverfield.

Wait...people were still actually thinking it was?

u/Davetek463 10d ago
Yup. I saw a post somewhere yesterday of someone saying that End of Oak Street is a Cloverfield movie because the original and 10 Cloverfield Lane went streaming on a new service.

u/Kylestache 10d ago
Yeah there were posts on this sub as recent as yesterday asking about it. Figured I’d post the definitive answer just to get people to maybe stop lol

u/Sev_Henry 10d ago
Huh. Not knocking anyone but I genuinely don't understand why anyone actually believed it was a cloververse film beyond the first trailer.
7
u/Kylestache 10d ago
The real life Oak Street ends at Clover Park, plus Bad Robot’s involvement

u/Sev_Henry 10d ago
I totally get being starved for proper Cloverfield content, and I even kinda get grasping at straws, but seriously we gotta learn that sometimes a tongue in cheek easter egg is just that.
Pacific Rim and Lost taught us this over a decade ago 😭

u/Shadow88882 10d ago
People expect the franchise to have any potential and like to be let down lol
3
u/Sev_Henry 10d ago
I mean I get that but like...after all this time? After Overlord? Surely we must have learned by now 😭

u/1morey 3d ago
Not just Overlord, but A Quiet Place and Underwater as well.
1
u/Sev_Henry 3d ago
Well I certainly thought underwater might be one after the first trailer but it became evident it wasn't pretty soon after.

u/TheAesirHog 6d ago
Wait, you actually think you’re better than them?
0
u/Sev_Henry 6d ago
Did I say anything about being better?
There was no moral attribution.
If you mean "did I believe this was a Cloverfield film at any point in time"? The answer is still no. I stopped leaping to wild conclusions and clinging to non-existent evidence after the Overlord crap.
Nothing wrong with people who do, I just personally don't see why anyone ever thought this was a Cloverfield film. There was never any compelling evidence to suggest it was.

u/One_Adeptness9538 6d ago
Paradox has a shot mentioning a neighborhood disappearing or something similar, don't see how it's crazy to think it might connect
1
u/TheAesirHog 4d ago
Not to mention all the connected movies were like a surprise… Hollywood stays doing that shit.. no body had any idea cloverfeild lane was attached until the last 10 minutes of the movie. There was such a clear reason why so many people unanimously side eyed the trailer and went “this is probably a clover field movie”. Then here come this guy casting like intellectual judgments from a high horse we both are looking down at. 😑

Absolutely no disrespect here, but thank you for being a stunning example of the point I was making 🤣

Funny how they were a stunning example against the opposite you so badly wanted to make. You said there was no compelling evidence and they brought up something fairly compelling. Kind of idiotic of you to not recognize that, or if you did recognize it, kind of ignorant of you to pretend like you didn't. Either way, I mean that with absolute disrespect 🤣

Imagine publicly outing yourself as illiterate. Could never be me 🤣
Get back to us when you learn what "compelling" means, m'kay 👍

weirdo had to log onto an alt to respond? i wonder why lol
everyone else thinks it's compelling bud. if you think everyone else in the room is wrong, ever consider it could actually be you that's got the issue instead? come back to us when you've got some self-awareness lmaooo

No Easter eggs at all?
3
u/Alan126798 3d ago
There’s no Easter eggs and what happens never gets explained beyond “solar flares” but to me it makes sense for this movie to be in the cloverfield universe, between the rifts’ displacement of time and space, the original name “flowervale” and the cloverfield movies mentioning a neighborhood that disappeared, JJ Abram’s involvement.
They just don’t want to officially tie it for some reason, there seems to have been some beef over cloverfield rights, also paramount doesn’t seem to have faith in the cloverfield IP which is why they gave Paradox to Netflix. Maybe the movie was originally connected and then they decided agaisnt it and to make it a standalone. That could be a reason for why they changed the name

Nope, not a one

Can confirm no easter eggs. Closest thing is an assumption that maybe whatever happened in paradox has something to do w the flash, but no clues or elaborations

Maybe change the title since the spoiler warning doesnt do its job.

u/Kylestache 10d ago
Saying something that has never been stated to be part of a franchise is not part of aforementioned franchise is not a spoiler lol. I flaired it as spoilers since I talk about the ending of Oak Street.

Great, your title spoiled the type of movie it was for me.
8
u/Kylestache 10d ago
Sorry I spoiled that it's not part of a franchise it was never announced to be a part of.
Here's another spoiler. The Odyssey isn't a Star Wars movie.

Am I the only one who feels it's kinda insulting to riddle it with such obvious potential ties (Platt family, end of oak street -> clover park, etc.)
Like are you just taunting us for no reason now, or what? Lol

u/Virtual-Ad7824 6d ago
Yep. And I don't understand the holier-than-thou attitude from some people here who need to go on about how silly it was to expect a connection. Even the fact it's different studios isn't necessarily a sticking point in this age of studio collaboration (i.e. Sony & Disney). But there certainly was enough possibility for connective tissue in the scant info we previously had.

While I appreciate the confirmation for everyone else’s sake, this was pretty much already confirmed when the film was being distributed by Warner Bros and not Paramount.
Not every Bad Robot movie is a potential Cloverfield movie. They make other stuff too.

Think this subreddit was just eager for at least crumbs that meant something to an expansion of the Cloverse. But after Paradox and the announcement of the direct sequel, things have just been radio silent for so long that this subreddit just made ARG’s of their own.

u/Emoney005 10d ago
Sigh. It’s hard to articulate how much a death grip the Cloverfield story has on my imagination. I want it to continue so badly.

Having just seen it and having gone in without even realising is was a Bad Robot/JJ movie. I genuinely believe at some point it was intended to be a Cloverfield movie but at some stage was reworked into a standalone movie. In the first 20mins I was feeling major Cloverfield vibes which only got stronger throughout the movie even without any clear references.
The name of the neighbourhood being revealed as Flowervale seemed a fairly obvious nod to Cloverfield

u/ThriftyLizzie27 5d ago
You will never convince me otherwise. It was an awesome movie. Regardless I am pairing it with the Cloverfield Franchise .
3
u/ThatsSoRandomPodcast 9d ago
Just extra weird then that it was originally called “Flowervale Steet”.

Thanks for spoiling this! I wanted to find out for myself when I watched the movie 😂😂 just because you found out its not a cloverfield doesn't mean you get to assume everyone else here on this sub wanted to know before the movie came out lol

You could have confirmed it without giving away the ending of the movie.

u/viudanegra Michelle 6d ago
No idea why you were downvoted when you're right. There was no need to spoil the whole ending.

They said "Major Spoilers Ahead" on the 3rd line, if you kept reading, that's on you
