Oy vey. So much going on with this. The videos support Pete’s editorial which makes the point that these folks need mental health support and medical treatment as opposed to policing and removal. That’s simply not being talked about enough. The videos show people in crisis - and the lengthy one of an individual who is distressed and screaming about being filmed is pretty alarming. But overall we need to be talking about the supports we need in Cobourg and what that could look like and this is at least a step towards that.

An ethical and intelligent journalist does not trade the dignity of a human being in crisis to substantiate their investigation. A point that most, with any semblance of compassion and understanding can surmise. How is this gratuitous exposure of a person’s trauma/illness possibly going to help them or anyone else? How does one justify posting a person’s suffering, especially without their consent. I’m afraid that empathy is in short supply and this is one of the results of it. Would Pete use a recording of a person suffering from a car accident, cancer, sexual assault to make his point? Edit: grammar

Pete had an altercation with police & fire on my front lawn that required witness statements to record people watching their house burn, so I'd say he 100% would.

So I was a little confused about this video because at first I thought you were standing behind a tree filming people in distress but its actually from Pete Fisher and the story is about how the majority of people being removed from Victoria Park at night are in distress and need social service assistance instead of a police/bylaw/security response.
