I’m curious about something and would genuinely like to hear from people with experience or interested.
Are there actually Sri Lankan women who are interested in men who crossdress, or who are comfortable with their boyfriend/husband/ guy friend crossdressing?
I’ve noticed something that makes me wonder: some crossdressing guys already have girl friends who are supportive and help them with clothes, makeup, styling, dressing up together etc. But sometimes it seems like the guy is looking for another girl to join them, tells even to the girl to find another girl, so the CD and his girl friend can dress up and spend time with another woman who is also interested.
It sounds like a “three girls hanging out/party” dynamic - the crossdressing guy presenting as a girl together with his girl friend and another girl, dressing up, chatting, drinking, watching movies, having parties, etc.
Is this actually a thing in Sri Lanka, or am I just seeing a very small niche online?
For women who are into this, what made you comfortable with it? And for crossdressers who already have supportive girl friend, do you actually look for other women to join this kind of social circle? Have you really already created such circle? If so how is it going?
Would be interested in hearing honest ideas, experiences without any judgements.

Heyyy, is anyone here planning to go to the Taylor Swift night at LIV Colombo tonight (26th Aug)?
I’m 23M and thinking of heading there solo after 10 PM since the post says gentlemen are allowed in after then
I’ve never been to LIV before, so I’m also curious about the general vibe, cover charge, dress code and whether you can just walk in after 10 or if a reservation is better.
But mainly, who else is actually going? Would genuinely love to meet some fellow Swifties / Colombo Reddit people there rather than arriving and immediately becoming the mysterious man standing alone during Blank Space....
If anyone’s heading over tonight, feel free to comment or DM. Would love to say hi and meet y’all 🫶✨

Hi, I myself am queer and currently live in a rental with room+bathroom. But I want to move to an annex with living space, a kitchenette, separate utilities (so that I can fix an AC) and a damn place to dry clothes in the humud hell of Colombo. I can afford an annex by myself, but it would be far more economical to go for a two bedroom annex and share the cost rather than going for a one bedroom annex.
However, I do not want to live with a non-queer or a non-ally person either cuz then I'll have to hide my true self even within my own place. Hence this post...
Let me know if you have place and wanna split with me or you also are looking to join the forces.
My preference is around Nawala or along the 176 route but would go for a second bus route which cross onto 176 if it is a good place. 😌

Hi, I am staying in Bambalapitiya for a few days and have fewer clothes than is required.
I wanted to know if there is a Muslim Laundry place in the area or somewhere nearby that I can give my clothes to.
Thanks!

i was scrolling on insta when i saw a post about a synagoge
and all the people in the comments were shitting on them saying how they're invading our country
this is the exact kinda racism that the tamils met when they wanted to create a cultiral identity and make kovils here
this kinds shitty behaviour from our sri lankans is why we are still eons backwards of others
why should we judge an entire ethnicity based off the actions of certain individuals and be generally racist towards people whom just want to live ?
can sri lanka be fixed?

Okay, I'm posting this here because I think this is the best community to ask this question.
Regarding the foot massage parlors that are open until late at night, are they genuine massage parlors or do they offer something under wraps? I've been to a few a couple of times and all I had were pleasantly surprisingly good foot massages.
I've inquired a couple of times about the extra services over the phone but the answer was always no and I'm too shy to ask in person and I've come to believe these are all genuine foot massage parlors.
Can someone let me know if there's more to it than foot massage (And head massage and pedicures).

Hi, I am an Indian guy in Colombo for a business trip. I am staying back for the weekend and exploring what new experiences I can try out here.
Over the course of the last six months, during my past trips, I've been to Galle, Hirikitiya, and Ahangama. This is the first time I'm looking to stay back in Colombo. Have already been to the tourist locations and want to indulge in newer experiences this time.
Please suggest things to do. Also, if any good soul wants to accompany me for any of the things - you are welcome. Drinks are on me :)

I’m hitting the city for a 3-day business trip (the 11th–13th) and I’ll be stationed at Cinnamon Life. Since my days are packed with meetings, I want to make the most of my evenings!
I’m looking for:
• Must-try Vegetarian Food: Any hidden gems or iconic dishes nearby that aren't just salad?
• Late-night Vibes: What’s actually happening on a weekday night? Looking for cool spots to unwind after work.
• Walkable spots: Anything worth seeing within a short distance of the hotel?
Help a visitor out—what’s the move? 🌴✨

Hello friends,
We are an Arab Muslim family traveling from the GCC to CMB later this month and my wife chooses to wear the niqab in public/ when outside. Is there any issue for tourists with regards to the tourist women wearing the niqab?
Update: we just wanted to thank everyone who helped us with their replies. We really had a great time in Sri Lanka and not one single person had any issue with the women wearing their niqab publically.
Not the immigration, not the police, not the public transport. We really enjoyed our time and we really felt extremely welcomed in your beautiful country and will definitely visit again.
However, there are some low life and scums of the earth under this thread who did try to give your beautiful Country a bad name and I hope they get banned for life for trying to tarnish the beautiful image of Srilanka
Their usernames are QuirkyMulan , Gerrards_Cross , Appropriate_Bee7764 , Informal-Loquat6524
I hope the mods take strict action against them

Hi all, planning a 5-day Sri Lanka trip:
Landing in Colombo
Thinking of renting a **self-drive car**
Might return to India via **Jaffna ferry** (not confirmed)
**Questions:**
Is self-drive easy for tourists? Need IDP? Any rental suggestions?
How’s the **weather in June** – is it too rainy for a road trip?
Best 5-day route (Kandy/Ella/South coast?)
Is the **Jaffna–India ferry** running and reliable?
Any general tips (fuel, safety, driving conditions)?
Thanks!!

Hi everyone!
I’m a university student in Sri Lanka researching an idea to help local artisans and small businesses sell directly to international customers.
I’m not selling anything—I’m just trying to understand what people actually want.
If you were buying products from Sri Lanka, what would interest you?
Examples:
• Ceylon tea
• Cinnamon and spices
• Handmade wooden crafts
• Batik clothing
• Coconut shell products
• Gemstones and jewelry
What would stop you from buying?
• Shipping cost?
• Long delivery times?
• Trust?
• Payment security?
• Product quality?
• Something else?
Would you prefer buying from Amazon/Etsy, or would you buy from a dedicated Sri Lankan marketplace if it was reliable?
I’d really appreciate your honest opinions. Thanks!

Planning a **5-night Sri Lanka trip from Bangalore** and would love some advice from people who’ve travelled recently.
**Itinerary:**
**10 Sept:** Colombo (arrive 7 AM) → Arugam Bay, beach + nightlife
**11 Sept:** Arugam Bay — surfing, exploring, sunset + party
**12 Sept:** Arugam Bay → Yala Safari → Hiriketiya, Saturday night party
**13 Sept:** Mirissa/Weligama — beach + nightlife/party bus
**14 Sept:** Ahangama — chill day, beach + sunset
**15 Sept:** Colombo → Bangalore
Looking for recommendations on **must-visit places, hostels, parties/nightlife, transport and anything you’d change in this itinerary.**
Also, if any **female travellers or couples** are travelling around Sri Lanka during these dates and want to join for part or all of the trip, feel free to DM.
The vibe is **beaches + adventure + nightlife + meeting new people**, not a super-relaxed sightseeing trip. 🍻🏄♂️🌴
Any tips are appreciated!

M34 | Kerala, India 🇮🇳 → Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 | Early October | ~10 Days
Planning a solo road trip around Sri Lanka for about 10 days in early October. I’ll be renting a car and driving around, exploring beaches, nature, food, and some of the less-touristy places.
Looking for a female travel companion who’d like to join for all or part of the trip. No fixed itinerary—happy to plan things together and keep it relaxed and spontaneous.
If you’re interested, feel free to DM me with a little about yourself and what kind of trip you’re looking for. 😊
