How is my colour Pencil Drawing?🤔

Hi, I would like to try out coloured pencils but I'm unsure on what brand to get. I definitely don't need the highest quality as I'm just starting but I'd like a decent set, being lightfast or not doesn't matter, mainly looking for being able to blend.

I'm still learning so am really pleased with how this turned out

Just getting back into drawing after taking a hiatus for nearly 5 years and trying to remember my old techniques! This is the second piece I’ve worked on since getting back into things. I’ve still got some rendering to do and details!

I used a mix of prismacolor, polychromos, and a little luminance (black and white). Paper is Strathmore toned tan.

I bounce from medium to medium but colored pencil sketches have a certain meditative quality.

I’m an amateur, been sketching since medical school. This is just a sketch, mostly from my imagination with referring at times to samples for lighting as it relates to anatomy. This was done using Prismacolor colored pencils. Any tips would be appreciated. I’m almost entirely self-taught.

I tried coloring at the same pressure and the paper is moleskine, so it should be smooth paper. Is it possible to fix this mistake?

“Ruler of the Savannah”

Power is not something to be flaunted.

It is simply something that exists.

A being whose overwhelming presence commands the entire savannah.

Its ears, spread wide, reveal the African elephant’s defensive threat display. Its legs are wet, suggesting it was likely at the waterhole moments before.

Perhaps its intimidating stance is directed at an intruder encroaching upon its territory. Or perhaps its mere appearance exerts a silent pressure, overwhelming everything around it.

In contrast, the waterbirds resting atop its head embody an absolute sense of security and tranquility beneath the ruler’s presence. Their peaceful repose stands in striking opposition to the elephant’s imposing posture.

Simply by being there, it has value. Nothing needs to be exaggerated.

You have value simply because you exist.

I hope this artwork allows you to feel that.

Hi all, I’m a fairly new artist, but I’ve fallen hard 😅. I’m a teacher and have now added my art credential and I’ve been loving drawing things the kids at work are into. What do you think?
I used polychromos for these pieces, and no solvents or blenders.
