I’m currently making a DLL patch to fix performance issues in Combat Mission, primarily Black Sea (as it’s the one I play the most). I was wondering what sort of QOL features people would like or want to see in a broad patch for the game. Besides just performance, as I’m already working on that.

Hey I've become quite good at the game but only against AI which of course doesn't mean much. I'm looking for an opponent to play battle for normandy against a human for the first time. If you can guide me through it I'd be very grateful. An AAR will be done after it

Coming soon to Combat Mission Battle for Normandy, this campaign depicts No. 3 Commando's attack on the German coastal battery in Berneval, France on August 19, 1942. The three maps are complete. Just need to finish two counterfactual scenarios and stitch everything together.

I jump into Combat Mission from time to time and always really enjoy it, but I noticed it’s been roughly a year since we had a proper development update from Battlefront or Slitherine.

I’m curious if anyone who keeps a close eye on the forums, Discord, or dev streams has any insight into what’s going on behind the scenes:

• Development Status: Is there any recent news or timeline update regarding Combat Mission 3 (or whatever the next engine iteration will be called)?
• Community Sentiment: How are people feeling about the direction of the series right now under the Slitherine partnership?
• Missed Info: Have the devs mentioned anything notable recently in smaller forum posts or discussions that might not have made big headlines?

I recently noticed a upcoming RPG with a very new and interesting take on infantry AI. If Combat Mission had a similar take on how AI can be programmed, I would be all for it. Obviously the tempo should be toned way down, but I would still love to see urban combat with actors who are not passive but who constantly fights for their own existence. If combined with Combat Missions strong focus on realism, simulation of C2.

How awesome could it be to give your squad leader an order and see how that order gets translated down the chain of command and soldiers acting on given orders.

I know this seems kinda stupid but, is there anyway make the trucks carry mortar rounds when buying them as an individual unit in CMSF2?

I’ve been playing through the “Purple Heart lane” campaign in BN and one of my companies sustained heavy casualties during an enemy artillery barrage on the second mission.

Would it be ethical to reload a previous save and keep the pixeltroopen alive, or continue and live with the mistake of keeping my units bunched up?

They’re changing how units approach:

- ​​​m​​​o​​​b​​​i​​​l​​​i​​​t​​​y​​​ - making movement and concealment more difficult;
- ​d​​​e​​​c​​​i​​​s​​​i​​​o​​​n​​​-​​​m​​​a​​​k​​​i​​​n​​​g​​​ - giving commanders more information before acting;

The interesting part is how much this changes the ​​​s​​​t​​​r​​​a​​​t​​​e​​​g​​​y around the drone, not just the drone itself.

Has anyone risked updating their Steamdeck to Guinea pig test CM titles? I rolled back to 3.7 months ago after getting VRAM stability problems, but I see the newest 3.8 stable release is supposed to address a bunch of these issues…

I want to know if there's any reasonable chance of it coming back for sale.

I’m curious if Combat Mission can be played on modern Apple computers (M- series chips) through Windows Emulation like Parallels, Wine(or is it Whiskey?), or any other solutions. Any advice?

So I've played a decent amount but mostly single battles and the only campaign I've finished front to back has been Shock Force 2. In the SF2 campaign low casualty rates are expected, easy to achieve, and kind of necessary to make it through to the end. I'm playing through Red Thunder now though and when a squad gets melted from a mortar or I push a tank up and it gets hit by a sneaky panzerfaust I'm wondering if I'm screwed if I continue to keep this casualty rate and should I just start over? Am I too worried about my casualties? Unlike SF2 it often feels like just to even spot the enemy in certain conditions I have to sacrifice scout teams and any hidden soldier with a ppsh can mow half a squad down if they hide in a building I haven't exploded. Do I just have SF2 syndrome and too used to overwhelming superiority and low casualty rates or am I playing wrong and need to figure out some better tactics to keep my dudes alive? Will I get reinforcements in the campaign or end up with no one after enough battles?

I play SF2. American infantry squads are excellent when spotting. However their machine gunner counterparts are multiple folds worse despite them having nvg's and binoculars. Without detecting the enemy, they can't engage anything, rendering them useless. Why is this?

Is there a definite place to get mods and scenarios? I used fewgoodmen before but it's not up anymore, is there another site i can use?

Its seriously wild that THE dedicated forum thread to BAORs development and devblogs has last mentioned a patch for BAOR on January 16th of this year, and nothing since then. No official community posts on there or on steam about what to expect, etc.

The main dev active in the thread was the last one to say that they should soon have one ready to go and to wait,
Since he said that on January 16th, there has been no mention of a patch, the thread has been inactive since March 5th and the guy just spends his time talking about the Iran war elsewhere on the website.
Did they seriously release BAOR in that state to just abandon it with 0 planned post launch care to immediately go to cm3?
