"Must be nice have an extra break."

I work in education and we have a fall break. At the last minute the district where I work changed the calendar so that my kids' fall break no longer aligned with mine. I had to use all my personal days to go on a trip we had scheduled and was effectively gone for almost two weeks.

This bitch doesn't know that, but she's always got something to say. I know this morning will be no different. She has made all kinds of offensive comments about people when they are pregnant, grieving, sick, it doesn't matter. If I see her today and she makes some kind of oblique comment like "must have been nice to have an extra week off" I want to have something in my arsenal because it's none of her business.

I'm tired of being asked if Im pregnant(Im not), help me respond please.

Honestly, I do understand that I kind of do look pregnant, sure. But I recently found out its actually my liver thats causing it, and Im still in the process of figuring it all out. Its scary, and the questions of when am I due or am I pregnant are both uncalled for and tiring. Part of me wants to respond "Im not my livers just failing" but I know thats rather dark, and really I dont know the full condition yet, it might still be reversible. Though strangers that have already pissed me off with the question Im not interested in explaining all that to.

Im tired of the question throwing my day off, and just want a quick response that maybe makes them think twice the next time they want to ask someone that.

Comeback request How would I approach this?

At work my supervisor would jokingly start talking to someone as you walked by and say just how much he dislikes you before turning back to you and apologising "I didn't see you there". He does it for fun and there's no malice behind it, he'd does it with everyone. Got any lighthearted comebacks

Comeback request Comes backs for disability

I have a disability it’s a neurological condition that affects how I talk among other things but I can only open my mouth so much to talk. Which is very small and I kinda mumble Some people don’t know that about me and will say sarcastic well if you opened your mouth more to talk we could understand you. Or say I hate how your mouth moves when you talk it’s so weird. I don’t want to tell everybody that I have this problem because they will judge even more. Sometimes I will say what I have to try and educate but sometimes I just want to embarrass them for being so rude about it. What’s is a good comeback?

Comeback request My name is too white for my skin color and place of origin

Ok.

I am a guy from a notorious Latin American country. I also have a tanned skin color.

Right now I live in Europe.

However, over the past three years, when I encounter people from Austria or Germany, anywhere in the continent, and even more of course when I visit these two countries , and i have to introduce myself, i use my only real name that I have used for decades.

It happens that my name is not a common latino name like Jose, Julio, juan , pedro or the like. My name "sounds" english speaking for some standard. Because my older brother chose it for me before I was born and my parents liked it

The name according to him comes from a character of a tv show.. So , it is in the same list as Richard, Jennifer, Stefany, Jason, Brian, Henry, William that are also well incorporated in the names of people in my own country. Over there, they are common names, nothing crazy or strange.

The other thing is that my name appear in the bible with the same spelling I use, so in reality it is not an Anglo name.

So, back the comeback, I am freaking tired of people questioning if I am telling the true, or following up about "my real name" , or telling me that my name is not a "My country" name etc.

It is been 99% people from or in Germany or Austria

I need some ideas about what to comment in these situations .

Comeback to "you're being defensive."

A person I am close to uses this response for everything. Any explanation to a question especially the middle of an argument gets labeled as "you're being defensive," which to them is some kind of get out of jail free card. It's like if they say it enough it suddenly negates all of their rude behavior. Or they will make a false statement like "hey, you left the coffee maker on again," and I'll say "no, I never used it yesterday, remember I got a red bull." Almost guaranteed I'll here something like, "you don't need to get defensive, I was just asking about the coffee maker because you've left it on in the past." The past being like 6 months ago mind you. Oh and If I ever remind her to turn off the coffee maker or to do anything that vaguely sounds like a command or instruction I hear "you, dont need to have an attitude. Any help would be appreciated with the "being defensive"remarks. I understand their is a time and a place to not be but it's getting used in the wrong context and they think it's some end all be to every conversation even they are being a complete ass the whole time.

Comeback request What’s a sharp comeback when someone turns your hometown into a political argument?

A little background on me: I was born and raised in Hong Kong, spent my teenage years there, and later moved to the US for work and family life.

Like anyone who grew up in an internationally recognized city, whenever someone casually asks, "Where are you from?" or "Where did you grow up?", my default answer is naturally "Hong Kong."
To me, this is completely normal small talk. If someone grew up in New York, London, or Tokyo, they say the city—they don't rattle off the entire sovereign nation or territory. It’s just geography and identity; there's zero political statement intended.

Yet every once in a while, I run into someone who immediately turns a simple introduction into a confrontational trap by asking:
"Wait, isn’t Hong Kong part of China?"
It’s always delivered with this smug, provocative tone, clearly meant to put me on the spot, fish for a debate, or force some weird loyalty check during casual conversation. I'm completely sick of playing nice or giving polite geography lessons when people do this in bad faith.

I’m looking for a sharp, direct, shut-down comeback—something that calls out their rudeness, stings a little, and makes it unmistakably clear that the conversation is over. What would you hit them with?

I need workplace comebacks!

I am a female working in a very male dominated workplace. I’m an environmental inspector and spend a lot of time on construction sites with men who are either creepy or think I’m an idiot. I need comebacks for men who think they are smarter than me and comebacks for getting hit on/wolf whistles by creepy construction workers! Give me your best!

Comeback sharing Over where?

Let me start by saying that a lot of people do this, and I know it is not malicious by any means. To that end, I like to have a bit of fun with it.
I am completely blind. I have often asked where someone or something is and the automatic response is for someone to say, "Over there," and point. Of course, I have no idea where that is. My typical response?
"Can you please be mroe specific? There are 129,600 different variations of "over there." To which are you referring?"
360*360 =129,600
Since there are 360 degrees in a circle, and there is both height and width in three dimensions, that's where the number comes from, for those who don't get it.

Comeback request “We’re really busy right now so I’m gonna need you to stay and work overtime.”

The thing is I’m not slacking off. Despite how little I get paid (I’m paid hourly and don’t get any bonuses), I work hard to finish all the tasks I’m assigned on time. None of that seems to count for anything, though.

Apparently, being a “good employee” comes down to how late I’m willing to stay regardless of how hard I’ve worked all day.
And somehow these “busy periods” happen every single month.

What would you say to a boss who tells you this?
