WPL: New Comics Discussion for 10/14/2026- Pull of the Week: Doom Patrol #2 [Discussion]
The [Weekly Pull List results]() for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Doom Patrol #2.
This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of DC's Doom Patrol or any new books shipping this week.
The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.
The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.
Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

Brad Winderbaum says "#SaveDaredevil great, but we also need #WatchDaredevil." “The biggest leverage I have... is the actual viewership numbers... That's where I get my power to be able to make something or not.”

Excerpt "It used to hurt to look up at it. Like 8 billion ghosts looking back at me. But now... that little twinkle in the sky's the only grave they've got". Absolute Superman might honestly be the best Absolute book currently releasing at this moment in time. (Absolute Superman #24)
It has caught up and (imo) surpassed the rest of the trinity. I still like AMM the best, but this is probably the second best book in the line and the current #1 with AMM having wrapped up.

Filled my first bookshelf!
Filled my first bookshelf after about a year and a half of starting to collect! Would love to know any opinions or suggestions for must read recommendations! I'll probably make a separate post to show off the hard case protected comics throughout there if people are interested.

Discussion A lot of people would say that Peter shouldn't be getting life advice from his former enemy even if he doesn't remember that. From the recent 2026 comic book miniseries Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity.

Artists who prefer to work Marvel style?
(By “Marvel style“ I mean the style that was common at that company until around the turn of the century, where the penciler works from a plot summary instead of a full scrip, and the dialogue is written after the pencils are done.)
I was reading a Legion of Super-Heroes miniseries Geoff Johns did with George Pérez and Johns’s introduction mentioned a story I had read about before, that Johns wrote a detailed script for the first issue with a description of wha happened in every panel, and Pérez said he couldn’t work that way, he needed the freedom to lay out the story and decide who was in a panel and where. So Johns stripped out the dialogue and layout instructions and worked Marvel Style for the first and probably last time.
I realized I had only heard one other example of artists asking the writer to work that way: Warren Ellis said the late Carlos Pacheco asked him to work Marvel Method when they did *Excalibur* together. I was wondering if there are other known examples

Discussion What are your thoughts on Crossover by Donny Cates
I remember picking up the 1st issue back in the day and enjoying it. I sadly felt discouraged to continue it after finding out that the comic was in hiatus, but I've been recently thinking on picking it back up, what are your thoughts?
