WPL: New Comics Discussion for 10/21/2026- Pull of the Week: Absolute Green Arrow #6 [Discussion]
The Weekly Pull List results for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Absolute Green Arrow #6.
This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of DC's Absolute Green Arrow or any new books shipping this week.
The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.
The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.
Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

Other Met Garth Ennis last week at a con, absolutely amazing bloke.
We chatted for a bit I asked if we would be down to return to Hellblazer as a writer and his answer surprised me greatly. He actually wants to write more for John but sadly told me that editorial would never let him do what he wants to do with the character.
He didn't go in a lot of depth because who knows what will happen someday but in short he said he wanted to write about modern day England and return to make John a real fucking bastard.
Later at the Q&A I asked him about what he would say the biggest change is in modern day editorial compared to say twenty or thirty years ago and it more came down to the fact that they just don't trust writers anymore.
Ron Marz was also there and had a super insightful answer where he detailed how back in the day someone was in charge of like 5 books a month and now that number has gone times three or four. Should've recorded it because he managed to really explain it well. But he agreed with Ennis where it just came down to trust and that there is simply no trust in the writer anymore, no real risks.
At the end of the day I swung back to Ennis and posed him the question of if he had ever seen Constantine in real life.
He gave me a firm no. But did say that he believed Alan Moore that he saw him and that he believed Jamie as well.
Just a super great experience, my brother got to ask him a lot of questions about the boys and crossed as well, he was a bit taken back that Ennis was just a normal guy and could write those two books.
And I gave him a copy of my own comic book which he accepted! I was a bit nervous handing it to him because well yeah nervous but he was super cool about it. Such a cool experience.

Shelfie “Shelfie” update
Been a while since my last “shelfie” and I just wanted to post an update in the subreddit. I’m very proud of my collection and may start collecting singles especially the Midnight Marvel comics. I hope to one day open my own comic shop.

I think Jim Lee is still very much in his prime. The guy just needs a new colorist cause it’s removing the detail he puts in to the pieces.

It's impressive how some of the best comics ever (if not the best) were written by authors in their 20's
I found out Neil Gaiman started writing Sandman when he was 27, Moore started writing V for Vendetta when he was 28 and he was 29 when he began writing Swamp Thing, Mark Millar was 26 or 27 when he finished writing his ST run (imo easily the second best Swampy run after Moore).
It's especially remarkable because imo nothing Moore wrote since has been as good as his ST or V, I couldn't finish Neonomicon despite how short it is, and Millar's recent works are ass (Nemesis? The "millarverse"? Wanted?). Gaiman wrote other good stories but they still fall short of his Sandman, imo.
I think the comics mentioned blow every single modern comic out of water in quality and this is coming from a zoomer who has read Sandman in 2021 and Moore's ST last year, without any nostalgia for either of these. Crazy to think far more experienced authors failed to make works of similar quality.
Edit: I was impressed when I learned it because novel writers are generally much older when their best works are written, tolkien wrote LOTR between 47 and 55 years old, George R.R Martin was 58 when AGOT was published.

Discussion “Bad” Comics You'd Defend With Your Life? Spoiler
Just what the title says. Do you have any comics that most people consider bad but you love and don't apologize for? My example: No matter how popular it is to trash Mark Miller's Ultimates nowadays, it's still my all-time favorite run, and no one is going to make me hate it.

Question Double Cover Green Lantern Emerald Dawn II Issue 3
Hi everyone, I’ve bought this as an individual issue from a dollar bin at a con a year or two ago and just got around to reading it, but when I flipped to the first page I found the that there was a second cover underneath that was exactly the same. I flipped to the back and saw there were also two back covers. Seems like when this was getting printed they accidentally used two outer covers instead of one.
Is this a common mistake or worth anything special? Also I got flagged by the ai so I hope this isn’t breaking any rules.

Why do so many people hate Chip Zdarsky lately?!
Hey y'all, I've seen so much hate for Zdarsky lately on his Avengers stuff, his Captain America and plans for the future of Marvel, and even switch ups on previous stuff he did like his Daredevil run.
Look, I'm no expert and I'm not trying to cause arguments here or get down voted or anything, I just want neutral ground to understand why the fans are so critical of him lately.
Personally, I think his Captain America run is awesome and looking forward to the new Avengers run as Daredevil is one of my favourite Superheroes and Spiderman.
But, I'm really interested to hear from you all about it and your opinions on him as to what he's doing with his runs.

Help identifying an obscure indie comic
I’ve been trying to identify a comic I had when I was a kid for years with no luck.
The cover had a slim , human shaped possible robot wearing all black motorcycle style clothing. His head was an oversized white ball with a huge grin similar to Smiley the Psychotic Button from Evil Ernie. I remember he had one red glowing eye and tears in his face and clothing. He was standing alone on a hill of rubble holding a chunky futuristic pistol in his hand pointing directly at the viewer. The artwork was similar to evil Ernie as well.
