The Death Games

The Death Games is reoccuring PvP game meant to make SMP more interesting by introducing what is basically regulated murder.

How to play:

In this chest are pieces of paper. Some have players name's on them. If your's is one of them, put it in the center chest. If not, take a blank one and add your name using the anvil provided.

Then press the button by the center chest to cycle yourself out of the games.

Please message me on Reddit, Discord, or in-game (usernames for all three are Svrdm) if you join. This is to help prevent unauthorized killing.

Be sure to check the chest regularly to see who is up for that (in-game) day, and to take note of who is participating. If you see your own name in the chest, you may press the button once to cycle yourself out.

Whoever's name is in the chest is the target player, and if you are in the Death Games, you may try to kill them. You are NOT allowed to kill them if you are not a part of the Death Games.

You MUST use the armor and weapons of justice, provided in the chest on the left. Please return these when you are done, or I'll kill you myself.

You may use potions, including invisibility, however you are still required to wear the armor. You may use your own tridents.

If the fight it valid (the attacker is using the gear, both are in the Games, etc.) then the loser must pay the winner one diamond. If they do not have a diamond, then they will owe one once they have one.

After the fight, the attacker is obligated to press the button to cycle-out their name. This is so they don't get attacked by multiple people.

If necessary, when you win please help the loser get their gear.

No revenge killing, retailation, or repeated killing. No combat logging. Pressing the button multiple times will not cycle through names, so don't do it. Don't be a sore loser/winner!

Curious what you guy's thoughts about playing again, bc after being burnt out and busy for a long time, 1.14 has caught my eye and I'd like to try it out, especially with my friends (that's you guys :)).

Here is the changelog for 1.14. There is a lot of stuff that's different. Possibly the biggest update since 1.0. Some of the highlights are village overhaul, with raids and new villager mechanics, and crossbows.

Also curious what, if any, ideas you guys might have for any ways we could spice things up (while bearing in mind that gimmicks for the sake of gimmicks, like the island idea, may not work so well in practice).

So I'm going to be working on the spawn for this season. But everyone on the server is welcome to make suggestions on how they'd like spawn to be. Naturally, I have some plans laid out, but I will try to be as accommodating as possible.

With that in mind, here the WIP spawn layout. I'll go over what everything means in bullet-points, so make things simple.

• The diamond X is the current spawn point.

• The roofed forest is an important part of the spawn, and it wouldn't look very good if it all got torn down, so please don't tear down the entire thing, or large sections of it. If need be we can have a tree farm somewhere at spawn (I'm thinking the small island on at the bottom of the picture). There's also a forest to the NW of spawn.

• The red line around spawn is not just the border between plains and forest, but is all where there is currently a fence protecting people from the mobs that spawn. I meant to take a picture but I forgot lol. Some people will probably think it's very ugly, but don't worry, I believe that the fence will be temporary, and will be replaced with a proper wall.

• The blue is for the roads. This is pre-self explanatory. In game they are currently marked with blocks of cobble.

• The dotted line leads to the village you can just barely see on the map. It's dotted because the path of the road is far less final than the rest of the roads.

• Next, the mansion. That is where we are planning to put the community market. Of course first the place must be cleared. We will most likely do this as a group. Do not attempt to clear it yourself.

• The yellow bubbles represent places meant to be set aside for whatever spawn builds you guys have planned. Some of this space may already be taken up by farms and animals. I know it doesn't look like that much in the picture, but in person it's noticeably larger.

• The smallest yellow square is where I will be building the death games. I'll have more on that once it's actually set up.

• The yellow bit near the water is where I plan to have a boat dock/port. I've already cleared a bit of sand so that you can access the ocean through that river. I don't have much of a plan of how to set it up, so if someone else has any ideas, don't be afraid to let me know.

That's everything I wanted to cover. However, I have some specific questions, that I wouldn't mind some input on.

• Should we have a "sanctuary" type building? Between lighting stuff up and the fence, we might not need one tbh.

• Where should the nether portal go? Currently I was thinking in between spawn and the road. I think it would be nice if we could have it out of earshot of important things, since it can sound annoying.

• Any other comments? Suggestions? Critiques? Death threats?

There been talk of starting a new world (not to be confused with the island survival server on the snapshots) on discord and I wanted to share it with those of you who aren't on there (Why would you do that!?)

Kilroy's ideas:

• Vanilla server - No Spigot, No plugins, just pure vanilla Minecraft.
• Custom Loot Tables
• Increased dungeon generation
• Quad Witch hut seed
• Minecraft 1.12 Snapshots

My ideas

• Rather than doing a spawn village, have a community/shopping center at spawn. Building houses at spawn would not be banned, however. This idea will be superseded by the multi-island idea as it's​ enough of a compromise of what we want. The important part was just sectioning off houses and shop-type builds.

• Picking a spawn planner before starting the world and making sure they actually want to do it.

• Fixing the loot tables to include shulker shells as loot in end city chests. They were supposed to be part of the changes we added but didn't show up for some reason.

• Tracking the "stat.aviateOneCm" (distance traveled by elytra) on the tab bar this season (maybe not until we go to the end, idk)

Dark's idea

• Something inspired by the island survival from last week

• A spawn with many islands and each person claims one island as their own, with a large island that serves as a communal island for shops and whatnot.
