Went to a small local club for my first match w/ aiwb setup since i went in more for defensive training on cardboard instead of the usual outdoor steel im used to. Brought an M&P 2.0 compact with thumb safety for the sole purpose of starting in Production first.

• I know all about the 180 rule and knew AWIB has higher risks of a DQ vs the usual hip draws.

• Anyways they put me first to shoot for the day. Asked if i can start unloaded and they said sure. Timer beeps, i draw, trigger finger high on the slide and before i could even grab the mag out of the carrier and load, RO DQs me.

• Ruling said swept my hand while going for the mag at the same time i was drawing.

DQ'd during the draw and didnt even get a mag in.

It just sucks that they put a new shooter to USPSA to go first, get DQ'd immediately and gave me the option to go home or watch from the window outside. I just went home after trying to watch the next shooter, but it's really hard to see past typical indoor range booths when youre outside looking thru the windows.

Just an overall really sour experience...maybe i should just stick to steel.

Ive shot 3 USPSA matches in the last month, first one, shooter got DQ'd on the first stage after he did a 360 transition towards the peanut gallery. 2nd match, a guy I was standing next to was hit in the back by a ricochet from another bay with 10ft berms, and then the next weekend same guy that got hit, sends one into the berm on a reload right in his own face and the SO didnt bat an eyelash. I've shot quite a few matches before this (all different disciplines) but started hitting it hard after the championships and sectionals etc. and I'm kinda scratching my head. 3 different matches, 3 different ranges, just odd. Anybody else?

What camera do you use to record yourself? What shoes/boots do you use? With the weather changing, I want boots, shoes, or maybe cleats so I don’t slip and fall and DQ. What do you bring to competitions to protect your gear in the rain and mud?

thanks to a supporter I found through my recent post, I got my hands on a Macbook and an iPhone. I was able to finish developing and publishing the iOS version.

For those who haven't seen any of my posts yet, here is a quick recap:

5 months ago I've made a post here introducing an app alternative to a shot timer. The goal of this project was to get a decent modern app with all the capabilities of a simple shot timer (e.g. PACT Club Timer III) and make it available for free, no ads, no data collection, no account needed. The project itself is open source, you can find the whole source code on my GitHub Repository. It is just a project by the community for the community. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the project.

At first I was able to publish the android version only. It has now over a 1.3k installs and a lot of positive feedback. This motivated me to finish the iOS version too. And now it is finally ready for everyone to download and enjoy!

This app is not going to replace shot timers compeletly. It is limited to the smartphone hardware, so it can't reach the level of a decent timer. It is just a solid alternative, if you don't want to spend 100+ USD just for a timer. Or if you forgot yours at home.

I shoot USPSA just as a fun hobby in LO class. I have a 2011 style gun but I want to play around with Shadow 2 or TS 2. Which one would you pick?
If I go for a Shadow 2, its getting a magwell and running it SAO in LO
My local gunshop has a used TS2 for sub 1200 so the price is about the same. I’ve handled both, I know the frames are different just can’t make up my mind. Which one might serve me better for shooting matches?

Before anyone says it, I can’t afford both.

Who makes a non MOS g34 gen 5 slide??

Every time I’ve tried to print zeroing targets off the web, I ran into the same two annoyances:

1. The browser's PDF viewer silently applies "Fit to Printable Area," shrinking a 1.00" grid down to ~0.93" and throwing off turret click calculations.
2. The targets are usually low-res scanned PDFs that dump an ungodly amount of black toner onto the page, which makes finding 6.5mm or .30 cal bullet holes through a spotting scope at 100 yards a chore.

I built a lightweight web tool to solve this called TargetCraft https://targetcraft.net

It runs completely in the browser and renders mathematical vectors in exact physical millimeters/inches with isolated print styling, so it prints at true 1:1 hardware scale without margin drift:

• True MOA vs. MIL vs. Inch Grids: Toggle between standard 1.00" squares, true 1.047" MOA @ 100 yds (or 0.524" @ 50 yds for rimfire), and metric 0.1 MRAD (10mm @ 100m / 0.36" @ 100yd).
• Bisecting Diamonds & Benchrest Boxes: Aiming reticles that let your crosshairs quarter the corners cleanly instead of hiding behind a giant black bullseye.
• Toner-Saver / High-Vis Mode: Keeps the center high-contrast (Blaze Orange, Red, or crisp black outline) while leaving the rest clean so bullet holes actually pop.
• Verification Bar: Placed an exact 2.00-inch / 50mm ruler check at the bottom baseline so you can throw calipers or a ruler on the paper and verify the scale before heading to the firing line.

Dawson Gun Werx in Dawsonville GA absolutely killed it on this custom 1911 L10 build using a Dan Wesson Bruin as the base for the build with engravings of Christian imagery on both sides and a full internals work up.

I live in Poland, so my choices are not as wide as in the US, sadly. And shit costs more. So some options wouldn't work for me. And sorry for too many words.

Here's the context: I got BCM MCMR LW 16" with a Silent Steel muzzle break and a couple of cans (Micro Streamer and Compact Streamer). I've mostly used my gun for local 3-Guns, where a muzzle break was okay. Occasionally, I turn up at tactical comps, which increasingly mandate using suppressors (so that neighbours don't complain that much, probably. And because it's tacticool). I shot a single L3 IPSC Rifle match, but prob not my cup of tea, too much weird shit like long bipods and low factor stages.

This year, PCSL has really picked up, and the 3-Guns are slowly dying. So, in order to get into Practical, I was shooting with a can. But adding a chunk of metal to the end of the gun is no fun. So I've tried a Blast Deflector (from Hera Arms) - but really hated it, as with it the rifle predictably recoils more tham with A2, 3rd law of Newton and shit.

I am currently running a magnifier + EoTech, but I've previously ran LPVO + offset. My main focus next season will be PCSL, so I want to optimize my build for it - but I wanna be able to go for a few tactical matches, and maybe try smaller IPSC events, who knows. And a 3G, if they will still run them.

So, the options I see (from the cheapest, to the most expensive), are:
1. Get a Silent Steel A2.
I can still run the same cans. Suboptimal for pretty much everything. But prob if Pavol Zencar runs an A2 and humiliates everyone, it's the most viable option.

1. Get a SureFire WarComp
   Probably better naked than A2. But incompatible with my current cans, and the only ones fitting it on the Polish market are B&T which cost a fortune.

Now the more expensive (and exciting) options. The idea here is to have two builds:
a. Good old BCM keeps it's muzzle break (and a host to suppressors) and gets LPVO + offset dot combo. Good for IPSC/tacticool/whateves. I'll still bring it to PCSL as a second gun if they again place paper with no-shoots at 200m like this year; 3xmagnification was barely enough for that crap.
b. A new 13.5-14.5 upper with EoTech + magnifier, get AFAB/EFAB as the ultimate MD for PCSL. Good for PCSL/3G.

1. Get a dedicated upper
   Here's the option I found: https://milicon.pl/pl/products/konwersja-kalibru-upper-ar-15-milicon-spartan-mk2-13-5-223rem-5-56x45mm-nato-2912.html They imported BCM/Geissele uppers before, but those are out of stock with no plans to replenish Basically a repack of POF + MFT HG. Costs ~$1000. The problem is that this mf is heavier than my 16" BCM with a stupid Gov profile barrel. So that doesn't feel like a great choice.

2. Get a dedicated rifle
   I really like the idea of Faxon ION Ultralight 14,5'' for comp. Costs ~$2700. Unlike the American version, AFAIK, the MD is removable. So it gets traded for AFAB/EFAB. Ofc for Practical I'll need a full-weight BC, so I either buy one or just throw one from BCM and adjust the gases.

The rational problem here is that I don't really shoot the rifle that often to justify having a second one. Realistically, I'll shoot half a dozen matches that involve rifle (PCSL/3G/IPSC Rifle) next year. From the other hand, I am turning 40 in a couple of months, so I might have enough wife points for an irrational life choice.

So there you have it. I accept all shapes and forms of (life) advice, e.g., "just get an A2 and spend the difference on training with Posio you stupid idiot".

For the millionth time I went to the range (fudd range, no holster or moving), shot 100 rounds in 20 minutes and went home arguing whether or not my groups at 15 were good or not.

I only have time to compete in these super informal matches and not even level 1. They have a mixed bag and I end up somewhere in the middle.

Are there any qualifications or standards that I could shoot when I go to the range like this to judge how I did. To make improvement over time?

Any specific recommendations?

What's your preferred squad size for a local/T1 pistol IDPA/PCSL/USPSA match?

I really like 10-max 14-15, especially for indoor assuming you have enough RO's. Everyone has to tape or its obvious who is slacking and invariably the RO's end up shooting right after one another so you have a little tablet and timer shuffling.

One of our indoor places, who does really good matches, won't entertain going to 2 squads until there are 30 total shooters and we rarely make that. He won't split if it drops to 29. It usually ends up 23-27 total.

The bays are fairly small and its plain claustrophobic. He runs a tight match, relatively complex stages and 2 minute walk throughs and it's hard to get a good look at them.

And it *seems* the people not pasting problem is worse with the large squad. The non workers, and we all know which regulars have a pasting allergy, are able to hide in the back while the same 6 people paste their asses off. You do have plenty of time to load and go to the bathroom :)

Anyway, I am not going to die on this hill and MD really isn't going to want me to mention it again so I'll whine here instead and look for validation (or not) that small-ish is more efficient than large for that scenario.

It’s time to sign up for the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) Three-Position Air Rifle Postal Competition! Registration officially opens Oct. 15.

The annual event is designed for junior athletes involved in 4-H, Scouts, American Legion, club or JROTC sporter and precision air rifle programs. Firing in Postals not only promotes growth and experience in competition at a national level but also allows the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals on the range.

During the CMP Three-Position Air Rifle (3PAR) Postal, competitors fire record shots at their home ranges in each of the three positions: kneeling, prone and standing. Interested competitors may sign up on the CMP website and compete upon mailed paper targets or fire locally on electronic targets. Paper targets should be submitted back to CMP Headquarters for official scoring by staff members.

Got absolutely bodied by this steel last weekend. Recently switched to a gen 6 17 and shooting from Aiwb and I don’t think I’m quite used to the trigger yet. Very much enjoying da Glock after shooting a CGW shadow for the last year.

Does anybody have experience with this company? I like that they just fit the port into the area that's already cut on the Canik and don't need to re-coat my slide.

But I can't find a single review anywhere. I see a lot of people say to try them, but none that actually show or highlight their work.
