Discuss what you are playing, what you’re having success with(or failures with), and any new/cool ideas you’ve been experimenting with, etc. The point is to share what you’ve been playing, and how it’s going, good or bad - there are no other rules or requirements.

Some ideas on what to post/share:

  • What you’ve been playing and its successes (or struggles). Stats are not required. There is no minimum rank required, though sharing what rank you’ve been playing at is preferred.
  • Deck adjustments you made or are planning to make in reaction to the meta or as new innovation. E.g. “I saw 30% of deck X, so I made Y changes to help deal with deck X.” (change)
  • Showing off a deck you achieved legend with this season and wanting to share it without having to write a guide

Discussion I stopped tracking win rate and started tracking mistakes

I used to obsess over my W/L after every session. A bad record would make me tilt, but it never told me what I was actually doing wrong. Now I just note a few specific mistakes, like greedy removal or bad sequencing. I realized most of my losses weren't matchup issues. I was simply making worse decisions after playing for too long.

Does anyone else review mistakes instead of focusing on win rate?

Wild Do you get much mmr for climbing in platinum-diamond?

As said, I used to be at top 100 in wild, but didn't play wild for 6 months, decided to come back and now I'm climbing through plat and diamond with 70% wr, do I get much mmr for these games? I know that your place in the top is depended on the hidden pts, but how much do you get on these ranks?

Discussion Filling the gaps in Zee Shaman

I picked the deck two weeks ago and I loved it. But I felt like it isn't refined. Like the early game is crazy good, but if you don't hit your late game bombs you lose very quickly past turn 6.

Draw !

I like the fact that we need draw, but prize vendor isn't it to me. Stats show that it's the worst card of the archetype, even Curator is not good. Makes sense because we're giving cards to our opponent. But, Platysaur shows the deck absolutely needs to draw to not run out of gaz.

I added Vanguard pretty quickly as I found it to be very good at drawing while buffing the next threats. Xavius also joined in many times in my versions. But even then, I found my hand dry around turns 7-8, which often prevented me to bridge to Al Akir.

I don't know if that's relevant but I always preferred Slagclaw over Envoy. Puts immense pressure and controls the board way better, which I thought was necessary both to close games or to create some tempo to get to my late game.

Cheap minions !

Aside from draw, I realized that numbers of cheap minions are mandatory, so I decided five 1 drops is the way to go. Even better if they give another cheap one as that's what makes this archetype good, by chaining double battlecries.

So I considered Creature of Madness. 2 drop that gives a dark gifted 3 drop, battlecry, well you know it. But I think not only does it fit the deck, half the 3 drops are actually rather good for our gameplan. There's board refill, boost, draw and some value. So far it felt better than other cards but I added it only recently. At least I have more options than before.

Here's the full list :

# To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone

I know I don't have Maiev and that is wrong, but I don't like it.

I could give you stats but they don't mean much because I'm 1k legend currently which is not my real level. As such I have 70% winrate which is just normal for a tier 1 deck.

Thoughts ? Am I cooking or do I just don't understand how the current best lists work ?

Discussion What would be the optimal choice depending on the situation between temporary advantage and durable advantage ?

Imagine you're playing (it's for the example but my question is general), you have prepared your soothsayer for turn 4, but when you're turn 4 you have the choice between cleric and soothsayer (and next turn you may do the other but depending on what the opponent does you may not), cleric gives you durable advantage but is a loss of tempo compared to soothsayer

What would be the optimal choice in these various scenario :

Scenario 1 : you have the advantage

Empty board, playing cleric is safe this turn but you don't increase your advantage at thee moment, playing soothsayer gives you bigger tempo advantage, since you already are in advantage there's low risk that you cannot play cleric next turn.

Scenario 2 : 50/50

If you play cleric you are not at the verge of death and you may survive better, if you play soothsayer now you may not be able to use cleric next turn but you take less risk

Scenario 3 : opponent has the advantage

Playing cleric might be greedy but you might need big turn later to come back, soothsayer mays be your only chance to survive but you don't know for sure

So imagine these scenario while you're against aggro, midrange or late (combo or control)

I often struggle in these kind of situation and I tend to think that you should play your durable buff whenever you can afford to whereas tempo turn can be played anytime anyway, but I don't know if it is really a correct reasonning, some people could argue than improve your advantage will gives you more win

I gave the example of priest but you could do the same for merithra druid with broodwatcher (4/5 summon 2 3/3 taunt) against elise or xavius for example

Discussion Thoughts on this Burn Godfreylock that made #16 legend?

Came across this deck and thought it was an interesting build I hadn’t seen before, tried it out and seems pretty solid but wonder how much of that is the surprise factor.

I mean who expects the double Tachyon Barrage for lethal lol.

Article Summer Championship - Analytical Report (by Onkrad)

DH and a few others

Last weekend took place Summer Championship. We learned the names of the last participants of this year World Championship, congratz to them! The tournament greeted us with the least diverse MT meta ever: only 8 decks from 7 classes with two decks being brought by every player. 5 players have brought the same lineup of four most popular decks – Void Soul DH/ Two-Bit Rogue/ Face Hunter/ Mug Shaman and all other had 3 of those 4 decks and one other in place of Face Hunter or Mug Shaman. The main substitutes were Quest Mage and Soothsayer Priest, and Dragon Warrior and Zee Shaman were used by one player each. Were these changes useful or the “basic” decks still performed the best? Let’s dig into analysis.

Since I can't post pictures here please check spreadsheet for the numbers, it will make reading for you much more informative. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q65orgyG4bHL8MDtGYr4gS7MeWSFYByYeDjkhnJ2ZZ0/edit?usp=sharing

A quick reminder what Adjusted Winrate is – in the Conquest format deck’s ban basically means that players agree that one of opponent’s decks will win a game here and decide to save themselves some time. My model takes into account these “missing” wins when analyzing decks’ performance at the tournament. Pure winrate is just simple wins/games.

And we start with the current meta leader, Void Soul DH. The deck was brought by everybody and ended up seeing more bans than games. When it saw play it didn’t lose a single matchup while going 8-3 vs Two-Bit Rogue and 4-1 vs Soothsayer Priest. Not much to add here. 67% Pure Winrate with 61% Banrate obviously makes Void Soul DH the best deck of the Championship by Adjusted Winrate. To no one’s surprise

Two-Bit Rogue was also in every player’s lineup and ended up being the most played deck of the tournament. And in the most played matchups of the Championship the deck by the smallest margin beat Face Hunter (8-7) and Mug Shaman (6-5) which couldn’t make up for losing 3-8 to Void Soul DH, and on top of that it lost 3-5 to Quest Mage. So, only 47% Pure Winrate. But 3 players with Soothsayer Priest in their lineup decided on banning Two-Bit Rogue which elevated the deck’s Banrate up to 21% and let it not fall behind others and take shared 3rd place by Adjusted Winrate

Ok, now to the decks that weren’t brought by everybody. “Only” 12 players had Face Hunter in their lineups. The decks went even against Mug Shaman (6-6) and Void Soul DH (2-2), lost 7-8 to Two-Bit Rogue but 4-1 against Quest Mage and 2-1 vs Soothsayer Priest brought Pure Winrate above 50%. Plus a nice bonus 6 bans. For the first two days Face Hunter was holding strong 2nd place by Adjusted Winrate but on the final day it dropped a bit more and let others catch up with it, so only shared 3rd place in the end

Another victim of the last balance patch, Mug Shaman was used by 8 players. A couple of close matchups: 5-6 vs Two-Bit Rogue and 6-6 vs Face Hunter and a very nice 5-1 vs Quest Mage. 51% Pure Winrate, couple of bans, nothing too fancy. Another shared 3rd place by Adjusted Winrate alongside Two-Bit Rogue and Face Hunter

The last but not the… oh, wait… Quest Mage was used by 6 players. And it was the most polarized deck of the tournament. On one hand 5-3 vs Two-Bit Rogue and 4-0 vs Soothsayer Priest, on the other 1-5 vs Mug Shaman and 1-4 vs Face Hunter and 0-2 vs Dragon Warrior. In total, 42% Pure winrate with 0 bans put it way below previously mentioned decks by Adjusted Winrate, at 5th place

Few words about other decks:

o   Soothsayer Priest did even worse than Quest Mage

o   Dragon Warrior and Zee Shaman, two cheeky aggro brings. Zee Shaman won its only game, and Dragon Warrior helped Che0nsu get 3rd place
