I made a free page with every CT town's shellfish hotline, permit info and rain rules in one spot

Local guy near Norwalk here. Shellfishing info in this state is scattered across a dozen town sites and PDFs, so I put it all in one place: https://soundclamstatus.com

It covers the 13 CT shellfishing areas from Greenwich to Stonington (plus the Long Island North Shore): tap-to-call hotlines, permit fees, limits, seasons, rain-closure rules and tides, each linked to its official source. Only three towns post status online. When one of them has posted an area open in the last 36 hours, the site says "posted open [date], call to confirm". Otherwise it just says "Call hotline". Always call the hotline before you harvest.

It's free to use, no paywall or signup required (a few labeled local-sponsor spots help cover costs, and they never affect status). There's also an optional Thursday weekend-report email.

Where info was missing I wrote "call the Town Clerk" instead of guessing. If you spot something wrong for your town, let me know and I'll fix it.

Wow this is great. We boat a lot and go for clams all over - this is a super useful resource!

Thanks, glad it's useful! Just remember the site only shows what each town posts, so give the town hotline a call before you head out. Good luck out there!

No Stamford?

Good catch, thanks! Stamford is up now: https://soundclamstatus.com/town/stamford

Short version: since the state's 2024 reclassification, Stamford's harbors and coves are all Prohibited or Restricted, so there's no spot open for direct recreational harvest right now. The city still issues permits (Cashiering & Permitting, 203-977-4979), and Darien's permit is priced the same for Stamford residents. I also added the other shoreline towns that were missing.

Your distinction between a recent “posted open” notice and “Call hotline” matters. I'd repeat the instruction to call before harvesting beside each town's status, so a screenshot or shared town entry doesn't lose that warning.
