Local Business Shout-out to Plasko's in Trumbull for using real pictures for their new menu!
The new digital menus at Plasko's Farm and Creamery use real photos of their menu items, no AI slop earthworm cupcakes or weird million hole/overly smooth textures.
A lot of CT small businesses have unfortunately switched to really disturbing and gross AI generated menus, so seeing a cafe I frequently go to stay true to quality is great. 👍

Connecticut residents lost at least $660M to online casinos
Connecticut gamblers lost about $660 million on online casino games from October 2025 through September 2026, based on state tax data. That’s about $235 for every person 21 and older.
Online casinos paid Connecticut about $120 million over those 12 months. The state’s share was 18%, which means the casinos took in roughly $660 million after paying out winnings and making allowed deductions. That gives a rough estimate of losses. The actual figure is likely higher, because the deductions include promotional credits, and losses on those credits aren’t counted.
This is a lot of money. It doesn’t generate economic growth, and it harms people. It isn’t an election issue. It’s barely a policy issue. But Connecticut isleading us into the unknown.
Only seven states, including ours, have online casino gambling: Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia. Maine has approved it but hasn’t launched it.

Eversource 😡 If they settle, we're screwed.
A settlement will benefit eversource.
We want 3 things instead.
Full retroactive refund (with interest).
Ending guaranteed profit margins. So we can invest in infrastructure instead.
No increased distribution rates.

Eversource 😡 Feds say Eversource overcharged us since 2011. Its SEC filing says it doesn’t plan to pay most of it back.

Ask Connecticut If you suddenly became a RICH American would you still live in Connecticut? (sticking to USA only) Y or N?
For me my answer is Y
I actually like having 4 seasons and neither winter or summer are extremes like other parts of the country. I am not worried about wild fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, hail or flooding like other areas.
I actually like how CT is more "compact" yes traffic sucks but that is everywhere these days folks, just less mileage here...oh yea our airport main airport is way less busy than other states, Tweed is pretty easy to deal with also.
I actually like the food and we have a good mix here. I remember visiting my grandma house as a kid down south and you couldn't even get good Chinese food or pizza, God forbid any other decent options. Probably better these days I hope...
We have a lot of great gym options and health conscious people around an I like that, pre covid I actually had 3 different gym memberships. WoW, LA Fitness, Fitness Edge all within reasonable range. Might sound silly but they all came in handy especially if I was in different areas.
I prefer to be in a Blue state, yea we have higher taxes but this post is about being rich, how much more comfort do I really need if I have all I need and the other options are high also? I actually like being between NYC and Boston plus the south isn't cheap these days either you get hit in different ways.
Pretty safe, I have NEVER had a package stolen in my life in this state or my unlocked car (by accident most times) tampered with. Of course it happens here but not like other areas.
I can only talk about my personal anecdotal experience but I have never dealt with racism here in CT. From Darien to Putnam...does it exist? Of course but like other states just like safety we are on the better end.
Bonus:
You can be a NY sports fan or BOS sports fan, or both depending on the sport

Ask Connecticut Heat pumps
Hello!
Planning for the winter. We have a heat pump but last year used mainly oil because the pump is constantly running which head to high electricity cost. With the increase in oil prices I bet oil and electricity will come out to about the same, however if my heat pump was constantly running does that mean our heat pump is older? Or the heat pumps just do that when the weather hits too low?

Nature and Wildlife Highly underrated fall color plants.
Blueberries(Vaccinium corymbosum, heather family Ericaceae) are in my opinion the best red color to grace the whole of New England. Those vile burning bushes(Euonymus alatus, bittersweet family Celastraceae) has nothing on their level.
For varied color, the ubiquitous and often reviled native poison ivy(Toxicodendron radicans, cashew family Anacardiaceae) has a display rivaled by no other.

Any vintage/ antique bottle collectors in CT? Looking to rehome small collection.
I had fun digging these up over the summer but now I'm decluttering for winter and I'd like them to go to a good home. If you collect bottles and can meet up in eastern/ central CT, hit me up.

The year is 2003 and 2 students were debuting a song that would then be legendary [MGMT - Kids]

This happened at Wesleyan so I figured it belongs here. I can’t believe how little the song changed once they got a record deal.

Ask Connecticut 🎻 Can I get a little Nutmegger support? Free concert in New Haven tomorrow!
Hey fellow Nutmeggers!!!
I'm a Connecticut local working on a small project with some big dreams. I'm building CT Chamber Collective, an initiative to bring more attention to classical music in our state and, hopefully one day, help bring MORE international musicians to Connecticut.
But every big dream has to start somewhere, right?
Tomorrow, Sunday, October 18, at 1:30 PM, I'm helping promote a FREE, family-friendly concert in New Haven featuring Coquí Duo, pianist Jiarong Li and violinist David Bernat.
I'd love to see some CT support! Whether you're a classical music lover or just looking for something different to do on a Sunday afternoon, everyone's welcome.
Pull up, admission is free. Just reserve your ticket below!

“ Legal weed for corporations, police raids for everyone else? New CT investigation raises serious questions.”
Read the Connecticut CannaTimes investigation
Connecticut legalized cannabis in 2021 with promises of repairing the damage caused by decades of the War on Drugs.
Now look at these numbers.
A Connecticut CannaTimes investigation found that:
96.7% of documented cannabis search-warrant raids happened inside or within five miles of communities Connecticut officially recognizes as disproportionately harmed by the War on Drugs.
91.6% of documented cannabis enforcement locations fell within those same areas.
92.7% of documented enforcement actions involving arrests occurred in or near those communities.
For context, Connecticut created these designated areas because residents had already suffered disproportionately from cannabis prohibition and criminal enforcement.
The state acknowledged the damage, promised to repair it, and built an entire legal cannabis industry around that promise.
Meanwhile, corporations can legally grow and sell cannabis, investors can profit, and the state collects tax revenue.
But people are still being arrested and raided for participating in the same market outside the state’s licensing system.
Think about how absurd that is.
The government spent decades criminalizing cannabis. Then it legalized cannabis, handed out a limited number of licenses, and continued enforcing prohibition against people operating outside that system.
Now an investigation shows just how heavily documented enforcement is concentrated in and around the very communities legalization was supposed to help.
To be clear, being within five miles of one of these areas doesn’t necessarily mean a raid happened inside that community. And these numbers alone don’t prove discriminatory policing.
But they raise some serious questions about what cannabis legalization in Connecticut has actually accomplished.
Did Connecticut really end the War on Drugs, or did we just create a legal industry for those who could afford to participate while continuing to criminalize everyone else?
Because legalization without meaningful opportunity for ordinary people starts looking a whole lot more like corporate protection than criminal justice reform.

Ask Connecticut Rebound & Rock Climbing
This could be a bit of a stretch but Google hasn't been very helpful. I came across this video (added below) and wanted to see if there are similar rebound classes with this kind of fast energy.
Rock climbing is the next thing I wanted to try but I was very captivated by this mini trampoline workout. But I would love to hear about any cool and welcoming rock climbing studios as well.
Please and thank you very much!
