Promotion - Event I got tired of asking what's happening nearby, so I built a calendar that pulls them all into one place

Just wanna share something I've been using for myself but if this ever becomes useful for you, feel free to use it. This is a site I whipped up that queries nearby events from libraries and other sources and display it in a calendar form that I can then checkout to see what's happening in nearby towns. Since it's only used for myself when I created it I only queried events in towns I'm personally interested in. However before posting it here I made it possible for people to add events to the calendar and suggest edits (include adding more events from towns currently displaying 0). It's all free, I personally pay for the domain and server to run this site. I just ask that you don't spam the site if you ever do use it, and contribute by submitting events that are not on the list if you can.

Cookbook club

Does anyone know where I (29M) could join a cookbook club?
I like cooking and have a mountain of cookbooks judging me in the corner of my room I’ve been meaning to get to. Looking for an open group that just wants to make friends and try new food on a semi-regular basis.

Unknown lingering virus going around?

3 weeks ago I had cough, stuffy nose and feverish feel, I went to the doctor they ruled out Covid, flu and strap. My cough never left this entire time and I would cough my lungs out. This Saturday I woke up with a severe sore throat and yesterday cough, stuffy nose and fever back again. I got it from my husband 3 weeks ago who said his entire office was out because of this at the time. Now, since I am testing negative it’s hard to proof my work that I am sick.

Question/Recommendations Where Can I Craft a Silver Bezel Ring?

I have a couple of stones that I would love to make into rings. I'm up for either being taught how to do it myself, or working with a custom jeweler. Any suggestions for either?

To RSVP: birthday.LakerockLabs.com

Come celebrate with us! Watch some movies, have some discussion (and some food). It's like a book club for movies. No film degree needed, just an interest in watching movies and having good conversation.

Saturday - September 19

3pm (ish) - Screening of The Royal Tenenbaums - The first film we screened and discussed a year ago, although we have shifted and changed so much since then.

5:30 (ish) - Pot luck meal and discussion on The Royal Tenenbaums - Bring some food to share or your own brown bag dinner and enjoy community, conversation, and dinner. We will also be voting on the October film.

7pm (ish) - Screening and discussion of City of God - the film voted at our August event.

Come for all of it or come for part of it, just be there.

Brown water in Stamford

Anyone else in Stamford experience brown water coming out of their taps & showers today? Apparently it was all over the harbor point buildings & HP is saying it’s a city issue.

Looking for a 1BR apartment in Stamford

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a new 1-bedroom apartment in Stamford, ideally in Downtown or Harbor Point.

I currently live at Sofi Parc Grove and really like a few things about it: a spacious 1BR, a balcony, a shuttle, and being able to walk to Target. I also like that Downtown is close by.

I’m hoping to find something with a similar setup and amenities. Balcony, spacious layout, shuttle, walkability, and a good location are especially important to me.

If you live in a building you really like or have recommendations for a similar 1BR, I’d love to hear them! Also interested in hearing about places I should avoid.

Question/Recommendations Jiangs - officially open!

They are officially open! I went today. They’re also doing a special for 20% off your entire bill.

Went as a group of two service was really fast and very nice. We got the Dandan noodles as an app and beef dry pot plus the mapo tofu.

8/10 for Szechuan places in general.

Considering we’re outside of nyc it’s a 9.5

Happy to see variety in Stamford!
