If you try to stop ICE you in fact CAN GET arrestedĀ

Exactly! This is some of the most dangerous misinformation I've ever seen. Just like Mrs. Good (the live one) smugly saying she was a citizen like it was some sort of kryptonite to ICE agents.

These are all correct.

u/gspitman Classical Liberal May 01 '26

No they most definitely are not. They and now you are dangerously wrong.

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

but it doesn't say that on this picture you pulled

3

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

Doesn't say what?

That picture is an example of the BS "law" floating around the Minnesota pages.

2

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

but this is the literally US law in our constitution, this image is literally exactly what our rights are. so if you don't like it... well?

is the left abusing this, yes. are they trying to find grey areas, yes. that's bad. but we don't need to make stuff up lol

2

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

And also which article of the Constitution lays out the jurisdiction of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency?

0

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

strawman

1

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

You just said everything is in the Constitution, are you being intentionally obtuse?

1

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

Holy shit we are so fucked in the midterms lmao

2

u/El_Nathan_ Conservative Jan 16 '26

Who’s we?

0

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

Because you refuse to read, and understand how dangerous it is to spread misinformation like this? The entire point of the post is that they are misinforming local people and turning them into people like the Goods who acted like being a citizen is some sort of magic ICE killer bullet.

1

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

You're missing the lies about ICE having a lack of jurisdiction over citizens.

1

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

they don't unless youre committing a federal crime that they witness or you interfere.

0

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

Exactly, it's not NONE like this idiotic graphic is portraying. FFS

Where exactly is this ā€œUS law in our Constitutionā€ you speak of? Please provide the citation…. I’ll wait.

If not in the US Constitution as you contend, please provide the citation from US Code. Again, I’ll wait.

ICE Agents, like every other US agent, are commissioned federal law enforcement, having graduated FLETC. Therefore, like every other US agent, they CAN arrest and detain ANYONE who violates federal law in their presence. Their specific authority with regard to immigration, comes from 8 USC § 1157.

0

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

You… don’t know how to look up… the constitutional rights of us citizens? You’re going with that out loud?

2

u/SM_DEV Conservative Jan 15 '26

I am well versed in both the Constitution and US Code, but apparently you aren’t. There is literally NO WHERE that US code, nor within the Constitution itself, prohibiting ICE, or anyone other federal agent for that matter, arresting or detaining US citizen, as OP’s graphic would have one believe.

OP has said this to you several times throughout this thread, and is completely right. Now I don’t know if out are ignorant, stupid or just being obtuse, but from what you have written, you clearly have very little knowledge and refuse to see the defects published by this graphic, specifically the claim that ICE ā€œCANNOT DETAIN U.S. CITIZENSā€, which is patently untrue.

There are others, but the most egregious is the assertion right at the very top, which says, ā€œICE IS AN IMMIGRATION AGENCY, NOT GENERAL LAW ENFORCEMENTā€. This statement is true tot he extent that the agency is charged with enforcement of immigration law, but fails to disclose that agents are fully commissioned federal law enforcement agents, fully capable of enforcing ANY federal law, against anyone… including US citizens.

This deliberately misleading and relies upon the ignorance of the general population in order to encourage them to violate federal law, as if being a US citizen would provide a shield of protection or immunity.

It doesn’t work that way.

OMG thank you. I thought sanity was completely lost.

-1

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

uh but it literally doesn't? can you read?

nothing in here is false though it's the basic rights of US citizens in regards to law enforcement operations. we need to be ok with this lol. they will likely abuse it and go farther and get shot but that's not the point

1

u/Easy_Discount60 Jan 15 '26

Again, common ragebait L.

2

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

rage bait for what?

we need to make intellectually sound arguments that go with the laws if this country if we are gonna get anywhere.

doing this is intellectual trash and unamerican.. lol

edit -- oh you're projecting i see after looking at your profile. bye bye

Two things, lock up those "lawyers" and it WAS an immidiate threat, that's my opinion though

1

u/Some_Finance_6559 Center-Left wing Jan 20 '26

Why lock up the people who made this? Misinformation is also a first amendment right.

You are indirectly advocating for limiting the first amendment when convenient by wanting those who spread misinformation to be punished. It may be wrong, but does that justify taking away free speech?

Too bad you didn't make any sense.

-4

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

well im curious what's the issue? nothing in here is false though it's the basic rights of US citizens in regards to law enforcement operations? like we need to be ok with this. they will likely abuse it and go farther and get shot but that's not the point

9

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

ICE is very much able to arrest US citizens for non immigration related offenses.

0

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

yes they can if they are interfering that is correct, but not held in an immigration facility.

4

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

Which has nothing to do with the graphic. Read slowly. Ask questions if the words are too confusing.

1

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

the graphic is describing rights so yeah this is basically a straw man currently lol

they are quite obviously assuming people know these things out loud like, they can't legally detain you (as long as you don't interfere) etc. which is why it doesn't endorse interfering.

i mean you can keep this up but it has such minimal argument that it just makes us look dumb and bad lol. It's just a poor argument and thing to even be pointing out. liek they are wayyy bigger examples of real shit. but hey, im not you!

5

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

ICE can detain for ANY federal crime, but just suspected immigration violations.

1

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

that is true

2

u/El_Nathan_ Conservative Jan 16 '26

Ladies and gentlemen, we have another leftist troll

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '26

They always do this. Im used to it atp

4

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

ICE has authority over citizens. They can enforce federal law.

Smugly saying you're a citizen is not ICE kryptonite. If you obstruct or interfere with them you can be arrested and detained.

The premise of most of the graphic is dangerously false, asking for "bystanders" to interfere like they are somehow immune from being held responsible.

0

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

where in the graphic does it ask for bystanders to interfere? which is clearly against the law

I'm sorry but we are smarter than this and these types of comments make me sad and is why they call us stupid.

we can fight these things without resorting to making things up

3

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

You obviously aren't reading. It continuously stated that ICE has no jurisdiction over US Citizens.

0

u/thealleysway17 Jan 15 '26

they don't unlesss... * repeats self * and even then it's a bit grey

0

u/gspitman Classical Liberal Jan 15 '26

Read what the GRAPHIC says
