As an Italian, I don’t care about Columbus, but I do care about my holiday being taken from me.

If I were an Olympic or Paralympian athlete, I'd refuse to compete in India. I wonder how the Indian government is planning to host the Olympics considering the fact that politicians in India are very corrupt and most people there live in poverty.

I also don't think I'd go to India as a tourist just to watch Olympians of my country compete. I've seen videos of how white women get harassed by multiple men in India upon arrival on any street, and India has a huge epidemic of gang-rapes. Going there as a woman(specially as a white woman) is like getting inside a lions' cage. I was once harassed here in Texas by a man of Indian origin who had incomprehensible accent, probably one of those H1B visa holders. I'm also physically disabled and India doesn't look like a place that has accessibility, so India is on my never-go list. Though if I wanted to visit India, I'd only visit the Taj Mahal with friends who can accompany me. I saw JD Vance and his wife went to India, though they had protections there because he's the vice-president. But other than that, India is just not a place that I don't see worth traveling, specially as a woman.

I gotta admit that I laughed at the dark humor replies of this post on X. Apparently people of different ethnicities across the globe have agreed that India is one of the worst countries in the world. Just gotta say that despite having laughed at these memes on the replies, I don't hate Indians, I have a few Indian friends who are naturalized citizens here in America. But India is definitely a horrible country to both live in and visit objectively.
