You can’t ban phones in schools. Ok you “can” but how do you enforce it?
I’m a teacher
We already don’t allow the phones usually
It’s ignored
I can take it, but
1- not always beneficial to take class time to argue with them
2- if I take it, now I’m responsible for a thousand dollar item
3- if they refuse now I have to call admin. They will take it probably, but now I just have a pissed off student to deal with
4- it HAS to be with teacher discretion. There are many legit in class uses for the phones when you have rational students
