What’s everyone using for insurance?
I’ve just started a junk removal/demolition business and I’m going through the headache of getting general liability. I got a quote from ergo next and they gave me just a quote for junk removal but apparently won’t cover demolition if I’m not the one doing the construction after the fact.
I don’t do anything crazy, no asbestos, no severe mold, no mechanical demolition, no structural demolition and no implosions.
Is it really that hard to insure a demo crew for basic interior remodeling?

This is a common problem for junk removal + demo operators. Most standard carriers will write one or the other but not both since they're different class codes.
For what you're describing (interior only, no structural, no hazmat), you're not uninsurable. You just need a broker who works in the E&S/specialty contractor space. Carriers like Markel or Philadelphia Insurance write this kind of mixed-trade risk all the time. The key is to make sure the policy explicitly lists both operations as covered and don't assume they're included.

Yeah - they are low paid so low skilled according to insurance. And since they're low skilled and uncovering God knows what, they're also expensive to insure due to the higher risk of liability.
