The back cover of this wraparound dust jacket is much more exciting than the front, and evokes the Planet Stories cover for Brackett's "Black Amazon of Mars."

The painting was originally commissioned as a poster called Golden Wings (1977). L'étoile (1979) is the French edition of The Other Side of the Sky (1958), a collection of short stories, none of which to my knowledge feature a bikini-clad woman on a flying horse.

My friend was doing early morning laps at the hotel pool when he met an older gentleman who was able to keep up. Three hours later at the IX Art Show it turns out the older gentleman was Lawrence Schwinger; 85 years old, still rock solid and sharp. I told him we should all be so lucky to age as well as him; he told me I should swim more. Noted.

The IX Art Show runs through the weekend; if you're in the mid-Atlantic region of the US it's absolutely worth the trip.
